Hi all, so recently the urge struck me to revisit some Discover Our Bodies work I was doing, I wanted to revisit the idea of raising Pantromorphs and what that will look like. If you don’t recall, Pantromorphs are lab-synthesized organisms that act as a medium to explore the outer reaches of the types of consciousness that come about from Flowering. Flowering is a one-way ticket as far as we know, once you transcend your singular body and join with the group-mind there is no way to go back. Pantromorphs, much like the psychic fungi that are the bridge to human being Flowering, are more tool than they are organism, in that their function is to enter the subjectivity of an observer capable of collecting diagnostic information and then take them to those psychically dangerous places without being destroyed in mind or body.

(pictured above, a very early rough draft of a Pantromorph you may have seen a few months ago)

I have had a lot of ideas regarding the game play surrounding Pantromorphs, I have concrete plans for how they relate to the rest of the game: in examining subject’s bodies that have experienced anomalous psychic experience or activity, in your relations with your peers, your exploring of the Center for Special Procedures, in your growth of new types of psychic fungus, all these intertwine with hatching and developing Pantromorphs that will take you further and further beyond the time and space the human mind is accustom to experiencing. I have a lot of interactions in mind but I wasn’t really sure about how to go about displaying them visually. Most recently I have tried to emulate 90s desktop virtual aquariums.

The results are kind of fun but also I don’t know how well it fits. I also tried modeling some Pantromorphs in Blender and making some isometric sprites.

I like this a lot better? It’s very bare-bones and lacking polish at the moment I hope you will excuse me. But I think I am going to go ahead with this style of presentation.

If you have read this far you will have noticed I have not yet talked about Phantom Limb; Genius Loci. I am still working on it (sorry!) It will be ready soon though.

As always thank you so much for your continued support, I am infinitely grateful for you all taking a chance on me and I literally would not be able to do all of this but for your support. If you don’t hear from me before Halloween is over I hope you all have a fantastic time. Thanks again.

Yours In Games,

Yames
