I just wanted to share a little body horror snippet from Family Vacation. A while back I posted about sort of a progression system in the game related to collecting genetic patterns/familial connections. I used a genogram as a base for this. HOWEVER after some tinkering and thinking I have redesigned this a bit. The new progression system is sort of based around the idea of familial or genetic memories which is a recurring theme in Family Vacation. Because of the situation of the player character, whenever you encounter familiar sights/sounds/smells/tastes/touches, you receive a flashback or recollection relating to the vast lineage of ancestors that make up your personhood. Some of these ancestors are even non-human!

These sequences will be less interactive than the rest of the game and more text-based but I am hoping to make them stylized in sort of a cool way. Like a sky made of blood!

In order to progress through the game, or rather, in order to use the tapes which allow you to progress through certain parts of the game, you must go through these sequences (harness your genetic memory and thus your understanding of the tapes and their ability to mold and remold flesh) and so they act as an incentive to explore around some but also to learn more about the thematic framework the game is built around (original sin, inheritance, the striving of all life)

The older system about collecting familial relations is still in the game it just has changed somewhat. But you still get to collect heads and spinal columns! Rejoice!

I'll try to have more info about "Ruins Of The Human Temple" (the game with the robots/ruins/archaeology) this coming weekend. In the meantime, enjoy this demonstration of the scanning animation and the movement through the (pseudo?) 3D space.
