Hey everybody, I made another tutorial! I'm by no means a sound design expert or whatever (I'm pretty sure you can get a doctorate in that, there's a lot to learn) but I wanted to make a video sort of about how I go about constructing atmospheres for games with a couple of samples and some effects.

This isn't really a beginner tutorial, it definitely assumes the person watching has some experience with digital audio workstations and mixing and using VSTs etc etc, but even if you don't understand half of what the stuff I show does, I think the broader notions about what makes a good weird noise are hopefully helpful to you (or will be helpful down the road).

I think when I do another sound design tutorial I'll focus on vocal processing, because I've gotten a lot of comments about the voices of my characters/monsters and people seem to want to learn just what is going on. I could also maybe do some stuff on music? Or sound effects? Let me know if you all have any suggestions.

Kinda crazy how you’re a man of many talents. Interesting watch for sure.

after a long struggle with wanting to be really good at just one thing I sort of accepted that I will always be a generalist so I definitely embrace doing a lot of dabbling now. solo video game dev rewards that sort of thing though, as i find myself doing a bunch of different stuff that only needs to be "good enough" to come together into something I actually like lol

excellent stuff! i would be interested to see a similar breakdown of the WIP title theme for DOB, since it has a simple rythm but is still murky and subtle.
