Idk if someone has already told you guys that your theory about Pike's absence (the cleric) is correct, but yeah, it was indeed because of the player's irl schedule lol In addition to Critical Role, Ashley Johnson was also part of the cast of Blindspot, which was filmed in NY, and CR is based in LA. Ashley would sometimes join in via skype, but she was mostly absent for most of this arc (including the feast in ep.3). They had in-game explanations for Pike's absence, which ended up being part of the character's journey, so they also wrote some of that into the adaptation.

Pike’s voice actor, Ashley Johnson, did indeed have to leave for extended periods of time to film in New York for the NBC show, Blindspot. All of the cast are working voice actors/actors so they occasionally have other responsibilities that cause them to miss time. During COVID, they switched to pre-recorded episodes for safety, and ended up sticking with pre-recorded as it made scheduling easier for the cast and crew.
