Cut the roots -game & interface designs (Patreon)
Content
Hey everyone!
This week I've been working on some re omart for the minigames. And that's because I'm currently getting some help with the coding of the games- so the more art I have, the easier it will be to put these games together :)
Cut the roots!
So as mentioned last month, one of these games is about cutting down a plant with a hedgecutter. The goal here, is to cut away ever regrowing roots, by clicking on the root-ends. Clear the screen before your battery runs out, and you win!
And this is how the game will look :)
These roots grow in all directions- and consist out of various parts. And to make everything fit together, I had to make a 'tile set' where each root fits pixel-perfect to the next.
Now this is quite a tricky job! But when I was still a freelance artist, I often made sets like these for other games. So luckily I knew what to do :)
Well, here you can see a few steps of my creation process for these tiles.
I hope you like how it turned out :)
Interface deigns
Now to complete these mini-games, they also need their own interface elements; like a hud & mouse-icons.
And I feel there is an art to making a good interface elements; where the goal is to clearly tell the player what's going on. So, when making these elements, I always try to design them as if they were 'trafic signs'. For traffic signs are all unique, yet the same -and therefore easily recognizable.
So keeping that in mind, I made these mouse icons! The icons on top were already in game, and the animated icons below are for the new mini-games.
And here you can see the various huds I made for the mini-games. Every minigame is unique, but still I managed to fit all information in more or less the same frame.
Well, there are not many boobs in these designs, but I still hope you like them :)
All the best!
