It has come to our attention that the last build is triggering anti-virus alerts, both in windows defender and in web browser as well as 7z itself (when trying to extract). After doing a rebuild and recompression of the app (without changing anything), this alert seems to have gone away. I have now uploaded this new build, which you will find on the site.

For now, I can only theorize as to what could have caused this kind of alert to occur. As already mentioned, without changing any code, the new build seems to pass just fine, so it's not the code itself. Furthermore, running Windows Defender on the [old] build (not the archive) did not trigger any alert, so it seems to have something to do with the archive itself.

One possible explanation is that the compression process got corrupted, and that somehow is triggering a false positive. As a matter of fact, it is not even possible to list archive contents, so that seems to give some credence to that theory.

tl;dr:

  • Last build is triggering anti-virus alerts.
  • Alert is triggered by the archive, not the actual build itself.
  • New build exists, not triggering any alerts.
  • No code was changed in-between the builds, suggesting the problem lied with the archive.
