A giant thank you to Shane Hunter and Sawyer, who pledged at the top tier for some crazy reason. Seriously, I'm excited as hell to make this game worth your kindness. Of course, thank you to my other patrons as well. Things are just getting started!

Now, onto the dev log-

Forget what I said last week. Flash is an awful program for even slightly dynamic animations. I wanted to stick with it because I was worried about piling new technologies onto what is supposed to be a simple game. After all, everyone else I see is using Flash to animate adult games.

Not us, baby. We're switching gears.

It's called Spine2d. Now we can blend animations (no need to reset to a common pose when switching to a new loop), make real-time programmatic adjustments to animations (I don't even know what to do with this yet but it's awesome), and swap out body parts and attachments without a god-damned headache.

To be clear, this is still a Flash game because it runs as a Flash file. However, unlike most adult Flash games, the animations are imported from Spine and the rendering is being handled by a framework called Starling, which improves performance (especially for potential mobile versions).

My previous plan was a lot of work for a somewhat mediocre result. Now I can add lots more subtleties to the animations without worrying so much. To give it a test drive, I made a few thrusting animations with our friend AJ (okay, technically a changeling in AJ's form). I also gave her some new expressions -- these will probably change dynamically based on what's going on in the game. Lastly, I tested switching in a larger penis.

You can see how it went in the attached images.

Since I'm no longer using Flash CS5 to build the UI, I have to redo some code. I'll release the next alpha version once I have all the previous elements, the new animations, and the player's Arousal/Orgasm system done. Not too much work there, so I'm hoping it'll be ready quite soon!

I know Tiarawhy and RIP switched from flash to something called Toonboom, and I think Mittsies did as well, which they all say is loads better than flash for creating interactive games

I've been curious about Toonboom. Spine seems focused on working with game engines, which is something I don't see pushed as hard on Toonboom. It might be that Spine is the poor man's TB, which means I'll be using it for a while xD

Look forward to playing around with the next update when it comes :)
