This is also one of the movies that are not just great but important and everyone should watch like Schindler’s List, To Kill A Mockingbird, Saving Private Ryan, etc.

Talking of classic movies: The Wizard of Oz is 84 years old and still snaps (as the kids would say)

You are indeed correct, Simone. Juror #2 is John Fiedler, the voice of Piglet.

One of the best things about this movie is that we never know what really happened. There’s no big reveal that the kid did or didn’t kill his father. We experience it like the jury who never know if they got it right.

Lee J. Cobb is so good in this film! Also Jack Klugman, from TV's The Odd Couple & Quincy.

Also, please do 12 Monkeys as well!

Everyone's wonderful in this film, but I, too, have a soft spot for Klugman. Go back and look at the Twilight Zone episodes he was in. Too many people familiar with TV of the time think of him from "Quincy"or "The Odd Couple", but he was really a first-rate dramatic actor. I find it fascinating that all of these dramatic actors could also do comedy. Lee J. Cobb in the "In Like Flint" movies, Jack Warden in "Used Cars", John Fiedler as Piglet, E.G. Marshal in "Creepshow" (OK, semi-comedic), Robert Webber in "SOB", etc. I guess a great actor is a great actor.

If you liked this, you guys should definitely check out a little HBO film, The Sunset Limited with Sam Jackson and Tommy Lee Jones...

2 Questions, What was Simone's jury verdict at the start of the film? and, how the hell does Simone know how to use a switch blade knife?

How many times have I seen this movie?... it just occurred to me! As the movie begins, at least two people assumed that the fan was broken, one even commented something like, "What do you expect from the gov'ment?" They _assumed_ that the fan was broken, and they _assumed_ the reason why. Only later, when it rains and they have to turn on the lights do they learn that the fan had always worked, but was plugged into a "switched outlet" that also switched the lights. Every one of them suffered discomfort because of those assumptions. Just as they _assumed_ that the boy was guilty, and they _assumed_ the reason why. Love this movie!

Maybe since you two _love_ this movie so much (as I do, and I presume many of us do), perhaps you can do a poll of Stage Plays that were turned into Movies. My favorite that comes to mind is "Glengarry Glen Ross" from the stage play by David Mamet. (That would be Zoey Mamet, from "Girls", her dad for you two.) Do remember that Kevin Spacey was pretty much an unknown/up-and-coming actor at the time it was made. (He is a good actor, notwithstanding his legitimate "Me Too" problems.) Another favorite is "The Trip to Bountiful" by Horton Foote, for which the amazing Geraldine Page won Best Actress at the Academy Awards (as announced by F. Murray Abraham with the epithet, "America's greatest living actress!"). You've already reacted to "A Few Good Men" by Aaron Sorkin. Others... "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf", "Agnes of God", "A Soldier Story", "A Streetcar Named Desire", "Long Day's Journey Into Night", "Amadeus", "The Miracle Worker"...? I saw "Fences" by August Wilson on Broadway with James Earl Jones and it was amazing, but I can't speak to the movie, but the cast is led by Denzel Washington which does speak in its favor. Sadly, all great Stage Plays turned into movies are NOT winners, I'd say it is the exception, but when it does work, like here, it is pretty amazing! Other possible entries for the "Stage Plays that were turned into Movies" poll? I, like you guys, love this movie, and I also love your reaction. Perhaps you two have discovered your inner Drama-Nerd personas? Do either of you live in Toronto, because the Tarragon Theater is amazing and spawned an amazing playwright Judith Thompson, "Perfect Pie" being my favorite of hers that I know. ("Perfect Pie" _was_ turned into a movie, but only got 5.6 stars on IMDb so I fear it doesn't stack up. I have not seen it as I fear ruining my remembrance of the great Frank Theater production that I saw.) Happy Watching!

What made this movie so amazing is the character arcs. Normally we look at an arc of a character. Name a movie where you seen this many arcs in characters?
