People in the US pay more taxes than just about anywhere for their healthcare and still have to go into debt over it. I was talking to a nurse from the US, who argued the system must be good because the rich abroad often flew over there to get the best care. They didn't see any problems with what happened to everyone else.

as a recovering alcoholic, that last episode hit home pretty hard. i know its not the same as drugs, its got its similarities. hard times. I would never wish addiction to my enemies.

Just to put it out there. In 2022, I live in the same city that Breaking Bad takes place in. I recently had pneumonia and had to stay in the hospital for 4 days. The Bill i received was $5000 dollars. That was my deductible. What the insurance covered was what i saw around 23,0000 dollars for 4 days in the hospital.. That included. Nurses, breathing exercises, general treatment for pre existing conditions. I am still trying to figure out how to pay the deductible. Probably gonna pull from my retirement.

I'm from a sane country with normal healthcare. Because I have an average income it costs me about 125,- per month and the vast majority of healthcare is 100% covered. Certainly all cancer treatments.

In Australia. Had kidney stone pain. A few visits to the dr, ultrasound, probe up my peeper hospital visit, another visit for probe plus claw to remove stone that I was knocked out for. All that happened within a few months. Everything went well. All up cost me $0. Very glad I don't live in US.

* The portrayal of crystal meth throughout this series is in the area of "generally accurate, with a bit of more-or-less depending on the scene". It is not a hallucinogen, but as a powerful stimulant it will prevent you from sleeping. Heavy users can wind up staying awake for days without even realizing it, and eventually the sleep deprivation WILL lead to visual and auditory hallucinations, combined with paranoia and other effects of usage. So it's not that you use it and suddenly start seeing bikers walking up to your door, but if you keep using it the bikers will show up a few days later. * One of my favorite tidbits about this series is that Krazy-8 was originally supposed to die in the first episode when Walter gassed him and his cousin. That is why the two bodies are shown as not moving and completely silent, and it is not until the start of the second episode that suddenly he starts twitching and they realize he's still alive. His actor, Max Arciniega, was just so much fun to work with that they wrote additional scenes for him to keep him around. This is something that happens throughout the series, where people brought in for minor guest roles and one-episode appearances become recurring characters after the crew likes them. There's one character that was originally supposed to appear in only one single scene -- literally one scene because another actor wasn't available to shoot that day so they created a brand new character to fill in for the one conversation -- but again they liked him so much they kept bringing him back.

...and even became on of the best & most liked characters in the whole BB "universe". Another proof how outstanding the writers of BB are.

American here! I'm a conservative from the midwest. America is a federalist system. each of the 50 states are sovereign. Our constitution and declaration of independence literally says that the federal government in D.C. only has certain powers. all others belong to the states. That's why we don't have "free" healthcare for all. the states fight back against it. I would too...though my solution If i were running a state, would be to set up a state healthcare system(since that is constitutional) don't look to D.C. to solve your problems, cause they won't.

I get not being quite as annoyed by some meek, friendly lady buying groceries and talking on the phone, but I have little respect for loud assholes being true fucks among other people, in an environment where like 80% of them are already NOT having a great time on top. That's like an order of magnitude worse than someone hearing the shittiest music on a phone. Shit, have them watch porn or something instead, still not as big of a dick move as talking loudly on the phone in a line. Which clearly is what we all agreed on in the end, lol, still had to throw that out. Also: this scene spawned one of my favorite remixes in all of remix culture history, which I won't be able to keep myself from linking when you're done with the show.
