Today is a very exciting day for me, and hopefully for you too!

I am happy to announce RaftVR: A virtual reality mod for Raft. It has full motion controls support with plenty of new immersive interactions!

https://youtu.be/S1HQgp2al7Q

The mod is set to release publicly on September 17th, but I am giving you an early chance to test and give feedback on it. My goal is to make this mod as polished as possible on release, so if you spot any bugs or if some mechanics don't feel right to you, I would love to hear about it!

KNOWN ISSUES:
- No left handed mode yet.
- Binoculars have no functionality yet.
- Picking up a dead player teleports the camera higher in a weird angle. Quit the world and enter again to fix it.
- Crouching in multiplayer sometimes doesn't work and is instead controlled by another player. It's pretty funny, but will be fixed on the next patch.
- Trying to throw a hook you just crafted won't work the first time.
- Button hints that involve joysticks don't work right on Index controllers. Will also be fixed next patch (Why the hell did Valve decide to call them "Thumb Stick" on Index and "Joystick" on every other controller???).

WHAT NEEDS TESTING:
- Everything you can, but that's already a given.
- Displayed binds (in particular, if you're using SteamVR and Steam is in another language than english).
- Multiplayer.

MULTILPAYER?:
Multiplayer should work in theory, even with flatscreen players, but I didn't get the chance to test it very much. If you spot any issues in multiplayer, please make sure to tell me! Before you ask, no, you won't be able to see hand and head movements of other players, but I am planning on adding that in the future.

HOW TO INSTALL:

1. Disable game theatre in the game's properties. Right click Raft in your Steam library and click "Properties...". In the "General" tab, uncheck "Use Game Theatre while SteamVR is active".

2. Download and install the Raft Mod Loader: https://www.raftmodding.com/download

3. Select your Raft installation directory in the mod loader settings.

4. Press "Play" in the mod loader to make sure it's working correctly. You should see the mod menu appear when reaching the main menu. If you're having trouble with the mod loader, you can ask for help in the Raft Modding Discord server: https://www.raftmodding.com/discord

5. Install the Extra Settings API mod: https://www.raftmodding.com/mods/extra-settings-api
Press ''Install Mod'' to let the mod loader automatically install it for you. If that doesn't work, press ''Download this mod'' instead and drag the mod file into your mods folder which you can open using the mod loader.

6. Download the RaftVR mod located at the bottom of this post and drag it into your mods folder.

7. Press "Play" in the mod loader to open the game modded.

8. In the mod menu, load ExtraSettingsAPI by clicking the plug button. The status should change to "Running...".

9. Make ExtraSettingsAPI load on startup like so:

10. Close the mod menu. You should see a dialog for RaftVR open.

11. Choose the options that you prefer in the dialog box, then close the game when you're done.

12. Put on your headset and open the Oculus App or SteamVR depending on the runtime you chose.

13. Press "Play" in the mod loader. Once you reach the main menu, the game should appear in VR shortly after.

14. You should see a prompt telling you to do a T-pose and press both triggers. Just move to the center of your playspace and face your desired forward direction. Lift both your arms in a T-pose and press both triggers at the same time.

At this point, you're ready to go!

RECOMMENDED SETTINGS:
It's a good idea to enable Toggle Sprint and Motion Sickness mode. You won't have to hold down the joystick to sprint and the raft won't move as much.

I will be doing a showcase stream later today. If you wanna catch it, you can find me here: https://www.twitch.tv/drbibop

I can't wait to hear your feedback and have fun!

My first bit of feedback is i love how easy setup is. I take it in full launch the mod is going to be added to the Launcher and the AIP will be side loaded when people add the VR mod, Like with the RoR2 VR mod?

DrBibop

The VR mod will be listed in raftmodding.com, just like the API. From what I've heard, ExtraSettingsAPI will soon be included in the mod loader as a native feature.

Hello again. My feedback post have been deleted ?!

DrBibop

I haven't deleted any posts here. Might've been an issue with Patreon. You could try posting your feedback in the Flat2VR Discord.
