Hi!

Continued working on Harem 1.0, let me tell you what i did since the last update!

Since 0.8 so much changed,

and the biggest Model i made was i believe the Palace,

Its called the "Oasis Palace" and is the place for your Main Harem,

Unlike in 0.8 it is Fully explorable, one big challange was Framerate with many fluffy characters, so i decided to split the Palace into Inside and outside with a loading screen in between. (basically a very similiar system the newer elder scrolls games are using)

The main entrance is the same as in 0.8, but for example the Throneroom and those Towers are their own Space.

Another challange was coding the NPC logic to allow characters to move between places, and have some knowlage about what is in other unloaded "Rooms"

For this i wrote a function inside an Actor called "world manager"

As the name implies it Manages NPC's and keeps track of them no matter if they are loaded or not.

To keep the Memory clean it does not load any Characters, instead it uses your Savegame and "Teleporters" (really just doors) to let currently loaded NPC's know where who is, and how to get there.

At the moment a NPC will simply walk to the closest door which goes to the place where it wants to go or where you assign it to, saves the info to the Savegame and unloads from memory.

I have some ideas about to make this system better, so they really walk to the place (when you decide to follow them) but for now this more simple system has to do because i really want to get it realeased and patch it in later.

This "World manager" also calculates how a NPC is "used" outside of the current level, so they earn you gold even when not loaded, the same counts for Dirtyness and other variables which change over time, for this it not really simulates things rather estimates how it should change.

Another thing that botherd me was the way the Throneroom looked, in 0.8 it was "Jafars" throneroom from the Jasmine game earlier,

Because the Oasis Palace is ruled by a Catlady, the Throneroom and Throne is now also themed in a "Kitty style"

The first thing you have to do is to help our favorite Magic kitty Mirage to gain control over the palace, and the Felines in it.

Its a short silly introduction storyline for which i remastered those Bigcats, Currently its only those three (but you can mix their looks or even change the sizes so you can have a Huge Panther or small tiger unlike 0.8 where it was fixed)

Those are the Felines avaible at release, the SnowLeopard, cheeta will be added with updates!

The kitties also support the new "Bodyfat" system which i made for Frost, you may notice that the Tigress is a bit heavier than the others.

one thing that was a real struggle was the "Carrying" system

For Frost i made this Function already but it only supported the Player, for the character "Sultana" it was needed to have that kitty being able to be carried by her, i could not make her a "asset" like clothing it had to be a Character so it could act and speak like everyone else.

For Sultana i tried to get the typical "disney" look, from a Topology standpoint she is in my opinion the best i made so far,

Topology means the way how the polygons are aligned, having a good topology allows to select edge loops and helps with deformation while animating, while making Jasmine, the kitties, Mirage and so on i Learned alot about this topic.

I would like to do a Livestream next time i make a character, then i can show you better what i mean with Topology and how things get animated, i hope my cintiq will be working soon, bought a replacement pen my old one doesn't get recognized at the moment for some reason :c

Will be back soon with hopefully a Release and a fluffy devblog!

Tomorrow i have to get to the Hospital for a minor surgery, its not a big thing but i am still a bit scared ó_ò, won't be back till very next Monday so if you send me a message or ask something on the Discord i won't be able to answer (at least saturday and maybe sunday)

PS:

If you reserved a House in Harem 0.8, you still own it!

around the Palace are little themed houses scattered which only the owner can enter, they behave like any other Worldspace but with a little thing only for you♥

There are 42 houses and i noticed that Six of them are still free, so if you want one write a Comment and i reserve one for you if there are still free ones.

After release i want to add more of those "thank you" places in other parts of the game, so don't worry even if all are gone you still get your chance later.
