This is the story that really plays hell with attempts to pin down when the Doctor's time with UNIT takes place, as Sarah Jane says she worked there in the '80s, yet there's also specifically '70s things in several of those episodes. The new series has taken a few shots at it, like Kate Stewart saying something happened in "the '70s or the '80s."

Very true! It did kind of throw the whole thing into question. I felt that it was a throwaway remark with Sarah simply meaning she came from around that time, but they eventually said that UNIT stories took place in an alternative Universe version of the 80's given we saw some slightly cooler for the time tech in the 3rd Doctors era such as sophisticated CCTV and video chats taking place on many occasions.
