Due to the extended house hunt and then the unexpected bout of COVID, the work on the VN this month was less than optimal, however not entirely non-existent.

In the moments when I was able to sit down and draw, I managed to rework Vul’s library with the upcoming merger between the old and new chapters in mind. As you can see, there are new poses added, making him a little more expressive than before. Truth be told, I didn’t realise he had only one paw expression to begin with, so it was nice getting this variety in.

I’ve also polished the backgrounds left over from the earlier alpha. Enjoy the finished Magistrate gardens. I’m going to be honest, this one took more time than I anticipated, as it’s quite a complex piece both architecturally and lightening-wise. I’m not exactly happy with it, but after dozens of hours sunk into it, I think it’s as good as it’ll get.

During the holidays, I've taken the liberty to draw a first personal piece of art in over a year to bring you some holiday-themed good feels. In all honesty, it helped me get over the fact I had to spend Christmas alone, so I believe it to be a time well spent.

Finally, from less tangible things, I’ve managed to unite a big chunk of code between chapters 1-4, with a little bit more coding required to make the merger possible within next month or two. We’re also working on a music gallery, which will enable you to listen to your favourite pieces once you’ve encountered them within the story.

That’s all I can share with you at the eve of 2023. Let us toast to the New Year – let it be productive and fruitful and bring you lots of joy – FBtW related and otherwise!

Love,

~Kael

The background is perfekt but one question is still in my mind. Does Vul get a head😂😂 (just a little joke question)

Howling_Night

It’s ok Kael as long you are healthy and ready to tackle any challenges it’s better than a small update, and I do hope you get better

Rex The Wolf

I guess its something about the head being separate so the game can paste it on his torso whenever a sertain expression is required, rather then having to redraw each piece of vul art with a unique head I have no idea if this is true or false as i only speculated xd.... but it looks like this way is used to reduce work but increase variety with no quality loss Also i admit, headless vulgor caught me off-guard o_O halloween in tirnan? XD

I Dare Korval

Looking good, although a headless Vulgor is a bit disturbing and lets hope not a bit of fore-shadowing. On a lighter note, I wanna go to Enella's place a listen to mid-winter stories too. Take care of yourself and glad to hear you're doing better. Happy New Years!!

kaeltiger

Very much that is the case. This is how sprite libraries are compiled in RenPy to allow for variety while simultaneously being file-size conscious.
