Chapter 14 Update and Alpha access (Patreon)

Hey guys~!

Today I’m releasing to you the ALPHA in place of the BETA, as the proper build is not yet finished to the standard I hold myself up to and which you have grown to expect of me.

Most of this is due to our rather distressing house hunt. For the past seven years, we’ve been living at our current address, but recently our landlord began hiking up the rent to unreasonable levels. He intends to do so again at the end of the year, tying us up with another twelve-month contract, which would force us to pay almost double our original rent. We desperately want to avoid that.

I’m not even going to mention the great degeneration of the area we've been living in, which recently was ranked as the Worst Estate in the UK by all of the major newspapers. Mugging, assaults and even stabbings are a norm here, and in the last two years we’ve been afraid even to step outside, so the move is not exclusively motivated by rent hikes.

The house search took a lot of our time and energy, more so since after a lengthy application and verification processes, we were turned down for very superficial reasons. We’ve faced a lot of prejudice, from homophobia to Brexit-fuelled xenophobia.

“This property is for real families.” or “We only rent to British passport holders.”

Well… I guess true-born Brits who have never travelled abroad can go f*uck themselves since they also wouldn’t be passport holders. 😂

In any case, this is the main reason behind the delay, but on the bright side, those of you who want to have a peek into the build in WiP state can do so, and those who’d rather wait can ignore this and simply pick it up in a week or two when it’s fully fleshed-out.
