unfortunately domestic violence Is a big issue not only in Korea but everywhere (especially in the US too) sometimes it’s not as extreme as in this drama but it’s awful all the same :( I’ve been working at a domestic violence center for a few months now and I remember seeing a statistic saying that about half of all female homicide victims were murdered by intimate partners (idk how up to date that is tho). I’m not knowledgeable when it comes to Korea itself, but I do know that it’s not common for DV victims to speak up about their abuse because of cultural reasons which also tend to be the case in other countries where patriarchy is valued or women are generally looked down upon. there is a “what happens in the house stays in the house” mentality in a lot of societies. also a lot of DV victims will stay in the relationship for many reasons but sometimes it’s because they believe it’s better for their children to have that “nuclear family” or because it may be unsafe for them to try to separate from the abuser. it’s really a tough situation and becomes even more isolating + difficult when they lack resources or support from the community :(

also the child being colorblind isn’t the problem, it’s that jaejun is also colorblind 😂 and for the tutoring thing, technically it’s illegal for teachers to personally charge students for anything, I think only the school itself is allowed to do that & I’m assuming there’s something in their contracts that prohibit it

ngl your confusion is making me crack up but imma try to explain the characters 😭 1. yeonjin = main bully, works as a weather forecaster, slept with jaejun in siesta & casually sleeps with him in general, got married to the guy that loves playing GO, has a daughter who is colorblind (like jaejun) 2. Jaejun = bully who was beating up the guy that made fun of him being colorblind, owns the golf club, boss of myeongo, casually sleeps with yeonjin. he was the guy on the plane 3. Sara = bully who is the artist girl who uses drugs & gets them from myeongo, dad is the preacher at the church so she’s in the church scenes 4. Hyejeong = bully who is a flight attendant & works at dry cleaners, gets bullied by yeonjin & sara, likes jaejun but he rejects her a lot, and you’re right that she has less money/status than the others 5. Myeongo = bully who works for jaejun & has the neck tattoo, also has less money/status than the others

okay I know everyone has also been trying to explain and clear up stuff so you may already know it all, but I will give it a go if it helps at all lmao..... so yeonjin is the main bully chick, weather forecaster, cheating on hubby, etc. jaejun sleeps around with yeonjin and owns siesta and golf place. In the past he was the guy who was always putting eyedrops in bc of his colorblindness/contacts I guess. In one scene he makes mc stand in the rain and makes fun of her (he was also playing basketball during the first hair iron scene) myeongo has the tattoos, is a sort of "lackey", and he was the one who would SA the mc to "shut her up" hyejeong was the girly with the short bangs in the past who slept with the gym teacher. In the present she has the short hair and kinda gets bullied by the group sara has always been a druggie, her dad is a priest, and she paints and stuff.

I know this is late but for context to anyone curious about the red-green colourblindness, its a recessive trait "meaning that if you are a woman and only one of your X chromosomes has a color blind gene condition, you will be a gene carrier, but will not be color blind. If the mother carries the gene but is not color blind, there is a 50% chance that her sons will be colourblind and a 50% chance that her daughters will carry the gene". So even if the mom carries the gene, her daughter won't be colourblind unless the father of the child is colourblind. Men only have one X chromosome so they don't have a second one to override the chromosome with the mutation that causes this particular colourblindness. It's the reason why this is a far more common form of colourblindness among men. So basically in order for Ha Ye-sol to be colorblind, her mother needs to be a gene carrier and her father has to be colourblind. Since we know Yeonjin isn't colourblind and neither is her husband, we can kinda deduct that Yesol has to have a biological father out there who IS colourblind.
