This week I focused on fire.

Believe it or not, this wasn't Zelda inspired, as I had been planning this stuff for a while.  Seeing how wonderfully it worked in BotW, I decided to flesh it out a bit more.

First I made some changes to Meridiana's fire breath spell.  This spell now breathes fire in an arc in front of her, with an altered animation.  It attacks kinda low, so that it can hit the small goblins.

In response, enemies now can catch on fire.  Currently, they stand still and flail about, but I might have them run around, or continue attacking.  Fire damage is done as a damage over time.

Unrelated to burning things, I also made a few prop changes.

First, the fishmen's dropped trident is now a prop that can be thrown around.  I've even set it up for it to stick in objects it hits when flung.

I've also made most props break on impact.  They don't last forever!   The effects for props breaking is kinda generic, but I'll add individualized effects in the future.

Unrelated, I've also removed the gravity well spell, until I've had a chance to rework it a bit.  It tends to break physics objects as it stands.

That's the majority of that I've got for this week!

As always I'd like to hear any comments, concerns, or questions!

Yes! Excellent! She is a sorceress after all, and magic needs to be interesting. Feels like this world is really coming about. I do miss how lovely and original it looked how she has supporting her boobs while running. A very natural-looking gesture that made her feel more alive, more real somehow. These little things are nor trivial. Should fishmen take more damage from fire spells? While "earth" creatures such as goblins and ogres be more susceptible to air spells (whirlwinds or pick and throw)?

Dianaranda

The more i see this game, the more i get impressed this is being made by just 1 person.

This all looks awesome :D. Can't wait to try it out!

Voodoo Monkey

This is awesome! What do you think of this idea: It doesn't exactly improve the core gameplay but it would be kind of fun to "use" objects in an idle animation of sorts. Like if you wanted to take a break from running around and just have her "play" with some objects or herself. Then can continue running around as well.

Alliterative Acolyte

At least for goblins, I can't imagine anything more natural than seeing them run around in circles while on fire. Speaking of props, I meant to say after the last build that the sacks are really satisfying to knock about. It's a random little thing, but they really convey a sense of weight that the other props lack.
