The world's 500 richest people collectively gained $1.5 trillion in 2023, rebounding from a $1.4 trillion loss the previous year, per the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

This wealth surge was largely influenced by the performance of tech stocks, which soared despite economic challenges. Tech billionaires increased their wealth by 48%, adding $658 billion, driven by excitement around artificial intelligence.

Elon Musk regained his position as the world's richest person, with a net increase of $95.4 billion in 2023, surpassing Bernard Arnault, thanks to the success of Tesla and SpaceX.

Other notable wealth increases include Jeff Bezos, who added over $70 billion, and Mark Zuckerberg, whose fortune rose by more than $80 billion. Gautam Adani, however, lost $37.3 billion due to a Hindenburg Research report.

Looking forward, Miriam Adelson, now the majority shareholder of Las Vegas Sands Corp., is a key figure to watch, having recently acquired a majority stake in the Dallas Mavericks and increased her net worth to $34.3 billion.
