It's literally not bad, it's just that people like to forget about it because Norton got replaced with Ruffalo.

It's not bad. I don't know what people were thinking when they told you to skip it.

I wasn't sure before watching whether I had seen this or not but definitely not, I think maybe I saw the older one or parts of it. I thought it was alright just a bit of fun. Writing seemed pretty bad for the lines and plot was very thin but was just all about the action really. I was so surprised when he woke up in Guatemala, Hulk be running hard. He ran further than the width of Europe. Was cool seeing some of those scenes that were in What If? Was cool seeing some familiar parts of Rio as well. Also who knew Hulk had air bending powers with his clap 😂 There were definitely parts that made me laugh and you made me laugh as well. I have a feeling we will be seeing Abomination again after seeing this, but will have to see if he appears next week possibly

Inhuman Paradox

Best Hulk in the MCU still to me. They kind of forgot the psychological Jekyll And Hyde story element after Avengers 1.

Inhuman Paradox

Also, they recast him because this film got kinda butchered in editing by Universal and Marvel Entertainment CEO Ike Perlmutter and Ed Norton wanted more creative control to keep that from happening again. Perlmutter wasn't willing to let an actor have that kind of control (Ironically, now Marvel does let that happen, with Chris Hemsworth even helping produce the newer Thor films). So they tried to get him to back down by spreading rumors that Norton was a "diva" who wanted a higher paycheck and more control just for his ego and started a myth that he was "horrible to work with". Sadly people still run with that narrative to this day even though Norton hasn't been described as hard to work with on any other film (Except American History X, but the director even later said he was making that up because he was angry Norton got to make a better cut of the film than he did).

I think I did prefer the style of this Hulk more, the Mark Ruffalo one feels more like a comedy character a lot of the time rather than a very scary and ridiculously strong character. Not sure this Hulk would have ever fit properly with the Avengers though without getting a lot of control over it so maybe it was for the best in the end

I still don't understand why people piss on this movie so much. It honestly isn't bad. It sure is a lot better than Ang Lee's 'Hulk'. I loved it when I saw it in theaters, to be honest, especially that he talks. Too many times Hulk has been portrayed as a non-verbal character. Sure, it has a different vibe than Iron Man, but the MCU was just in its infancy back then. They had to establish themselves and I guess this was too much of a deviation. And as much as I like the MCU, they do kind of follow the same formula for every single film. Thor movies were a bit different too (not the best, but different), but ever since Taika Waititi took the helm Thor has become just another MCU comic relief hero with a dash of drama (I don't hate Thor: Ragnarok, but I don't love it either). I honestly feel this is a better Hulk than the one we see after this movie. This feels more in line with the character, while from Avengers and onward he is either used as a loose cannon or comic relief. The duality of the character just fades to the background with every feature he's in. Don't get me wrong. I like the Hulk from Avengers and onward, but the character has so much more potential than what we've seen so far. Fun fact you might have missed: the computer nerd that Bruce gave his pizza to is the same character as the decathlon coach and teacher from the Spider-Man movies. Also, what happened to Dr. Sterns is that some of Hulk's blood dripped onto his head wound, which is why his head started to pulse. In the comics. Samuel Sterns becomes The Leader, one of Hulk's main enemies. I hope we get to see him some time in the future. Maybe with the introduction of She-Hulk into the MCU they'll tap some more into the rich background of Hulk and his supporting characters/villains. Last but not least: if you want to see a good Hulk movie, watch the animated feature 'Planet Hulk'.

I actually really liked Ang Lee's Hulk, even though I get why it didn't do well. I had avoided seeing it for more than 15 years because everyone said it was so bad but I watched it for the first time a few months ago and thought it was fascinating because a superhero movie like that would NEVER be made nowadays. It was almost trying to be like an art-film — a dark, character drama primarily dealing with Bruce overcoming his childhood traumas. It had very little action and there were multiple times I forgot I was watching a movie about the Hulk. But ultimately I was more emotionally invested in Ang Lee's Hulk than I was the 2008 movie as it focused more on character development. Eric Bana wasn't the best Bruce Banner, but I quite liked Jennifer Connelly as Betty and Sam Elliot as General Ross. I also thought Nick Nolte as Bruce's father was a compelling antagonist.
