Lito Cosplay in the house! Can I just say that this episode was fucking amazing

2 hours went by so fast and for some reason it was so much better than season 1

SO many good moments and I am happy to be back with the Sensates :)

Also they recast Capheus because the original actor had some unsavory opinions about transfolk that ended up making him problematic to work with. We're better off without.

This episode was released as a Christmas/New Years special episode between season 1 and 2 because of the 2 year production time for season 2. Episodes 2 thru 11 are the actual season 2 with episode 12 being the 2-hour finale movie made after Netflix cancelled the series

This show is so amazing. Every minute is so beautifully shot and acted and written. Pure happiness from start to finish. Part of the reason this one feels different is you now how the foundation. Season one was mostly introduction.

This episode really is amazing for sure, possibly my favourite even, though it is double the length of pretty much all of them so a bit unfair. The final episode is great as well because of the extra length (I'm saying length too much 😂). I think for me Season 2 is a lot better than Season 1 just because it feels a lot warmer and just goes hard. Season 1 is great and in a lot of ways is better on rewatch knowing everything since you get to notice the connections and words a bit more closely. Season 1 had the slow setup of the characters and plot so that we could go hard in Season 2 whilst being so invested in almost every recurring character. The two big songs in this where they all come together are just awesome. I was watching them on repeat after seeing it for the first time. Particularly the birthday one, it just made me really happy and the song mashup hit hard. When I thought about recommending this show partially down to the cinematography that I thought you would love, this was the type of stuff I was thinking about with this episode. I think Capheus said it about his favourite film in this episode because it makes him believe in people. I think that is what the show is about for me, sure a load of the periphery people are assholes but the core people are all there for each other in such a strong way that it warms my heart. Absence makes the heart grow fonder so the break was probably a good idea 😁

I think one of the reasons this season seems better is the fact that they have a lot more dialogue and not-so-vague interactions. The first season really leaned on the long dramatic shots open for interpretation whereas this episode is more straight-forward. :)

That first scene with the music had me in goosebumps all over, and it only got better! The Lito birthday spanking was so good LOL. They really went all out with this season it seems. The music during the birthday sequence, from the Spanish song to the Techno towards the end had me dancing in my chair. Gorgeous scenes, and the characters, all seem so much fleshed out now. Amazing start.

As good as season 1 was, season two is just next level. The character development, the plot, the action sequences are all kicked up a notch. As for Kala, I feel like she is trying to make things work with Rajan bc logically it makes sense to her, whereas with Wolfgang its all emotions. Plus, he told her at the end of last season to marry Rajan bc he felt like he was a monster and she deserved better. While there has never been an official reason given for the Capheus casting change, rumor has it the original actor was transphobic and/or didn't like the direction the character was going in season 2 (essentially, it was chalked up to "creative differences." Can't wait to see what you think of the rest of the series!

I think the reason this episode (and season 2 in general) feels "better" is because we now know the characters and feel such a deep connection with them. now we really care about what happens to all the characters and are invested in them and their stories. that opening scene in the pool with "feelin' good" playing is probably one of my favorite sequences in the entire series. it's just beautifully shot and adds so much in terms of character and theme going into season 2. another thing I want to add in terms of sex that I don't remember if I mentioned before: when the sensates have sex, it brings them closer together. Sun touched on it a bit in this episode when talking to Kala when she said that it's sacred and referenced the fact that it was what brings us into this world (well most of us haha), and makes sense when you think about the fact that they all came into the world at the same time; it's what connects them in a way. I'm so hyped for your reactions to the rest of the season! 😃

So happy to see you continuing with this! I agree the vibe is great in this episode, and they managed to pack so much into 2 hours! It's a great re-introduction to the characters after the tense and emotional season 1 finale. Love that there were plenty of wholesome moments and sexy moments even while the threat of Whispers is still looming over everything. Excited for the rest of the season 😁

@Mark Hardiman I honestly don't know much about the show. I am thinking of just watching it with Seb, since he makes things more entertaining than they already are. I imagine it's a good show if this many people are on about it. :)

Van Damme was replaced because the actor is homophobic and didn't want to take part in any "gay" scenes.

Off the bat, they show him (new guy) touching and kissing all the guys. I don't think the first season he did anything at all in those group scenes. There was a glimpse of him at the pool scene with Wolfie in season 1, but it didn't show his face at all. Might have even been a body double.

I think Van Damme was recast because the actor, Aml Ameen, supposedly quit the show because he may have felt uncomfortable with the amount of nudity/sex scenes his character would be involved in this season. It's a shame because I loved him in this role and it was an adjustment getting used to the new actor. It just isn't the same but still good.
