Kris takes charge...

We're closing out August with Episode 14 of Homecoming. 😄 I'm having a blast spending time with these characters again. Chris and Kayla are in such a hard circumstance, with neither of them really knowing what the future holds - especially for their relationship.

Do you think it will survive?

This episode is troubling, sexy and terrific, all at the same time. Kayla allows herself to surrender to the pure sensuality of the moment as well as the welcome rediscovery of intimacy with Chris, as she thinks of it, without stopping to realist that Bella’s conditioning means that he is now physically and psychologically only capable of delivering pleasure from a female perspective and has adopted a female persona for the duration of the act. The complexity is devastating and yet both are temporarily lost in the relief of their rediscovered intimacy. It’s heartbreaking, actually. And the expression on Kris’s face - because it is Kris and it is she that we are seeing - seems to show pleasure, but is it the feigned pleasure that she shows her clients or the real emotion that she has always reserved for Kayla? Agonising, and impossible to tell from the expressions that you’ve given her, which make the images all the more powerful. I found this chapter more disturbing than erotic, and I wonder how much regret they’re going to feel when they come down. Tremendous stuff both in terms of narrative and artwork, Emory. xx

as worried as i am for chris in the coming times and this attitude shift is a classic trauma response, at least they’re getting some? i’m not sure to root for them or feel bad! gosh darn you emory and your emotionally gray/morally complex characters!!! Also wonderful structural art! it always seems like the images build off of each other in such a unique and intriguing way!

Wow! Thank you, Robert! Your comment really dives deep into the complexities of this episode. I think you captured the essence of the situation perfectly – it's a mix of rediscovered intimacy, lingering trauma, and the jarring reality of Chris/Kris's transformation (which Kayla is realizing was more than physical). Kayla is interacting with Kris, not Chris, in these intimate moments. Are they the same person? Two parts of a whole? Or has Kris become distinct enough to be considered her own being? As for Kris's expression of pleasure, yeah, it's a mix of her learned responses and genuine feelings for Kayla. Honestly, that's the balance I'm (always) aiming for - creating a story that's visually engaging, emotionally complex, and not afraid to delve into darker themes. Thank you!

Thank you, Nina! Yeah, I can see how you're torn! Me too! Chris/Kris is definitely going through a lot right now. Even Chris believes that his "Kris" persona is a trauma response...but she certainly seems a bit more real these days. I doubt he expected her to follow him out into the real world. But hey, at least there's some...uh, silver lining, right? 😉 I'm really glad you're enjoying the complex characters though! Personally, I think they're what makes a story really come alive. And thank you for the comment on the art! I'm always trying to get better! 💖
