To be fair I really liked that eugenics episode with Sarah Tiana. Her Garriff'ing was great. I am excited to listen! Hope that her cat clothes business is still going! Edit to add at the end: sorry to hear about the business 😞

Much like the "Fenian Raids" Dollop episode, I just listened and waited to see if any of my South Buffalo relatives would be called out by name as having done something stupid. My Dad worked for the Buffalo News for 40+years. He left in 2010 before it got really bad because the News announced last week that they're moving their press operations to Cleveland. (In case your geography is not up to snuff, Cleveland is about 3 hours away and in a whole other state.)

According to a western I saw, old dynamite sweats, and the sweat is call nitroglycerin. Supposed to be very very unstable. I wonder if the kids were flicking the sweat at each other? Crazy anyway you think about it.

Please have Caleb Hearon join you for Past Times!

Was the video release last week a one off? I was thinking maybe recorded recently instead of awhile ago, so I was curious if there are any plans to do videos for “newer” recordings? The Past Times has been excellent!

Growing up in Texas the teachers all had paddles and the Principal had a ‘Special Paddle’. I ended up getting in to an argument with a White Texas History teacher in 4th grade because she kept saying the ‘J’ in San Jacinto and not ‘H’ as it is a Spanish name. I sat and argued with her for 5 minutes until she told a little Mexican kid who’s first language was Spanish that he was completely wrong, an idiot, and was sent to the Principal for my paddling. Walking out I flicked her off and made the punishment worth it! Good ol’ racist Texas education! Don’t even get me started on the note sent home to Wife’s family to stop speaking Spanish in the household. Those were common letters and are even still sent home today (but with nicer wording) in Texas.

I had to look it up, a “handkerchief swindle” is a con trick that I can’t imagine works at all anymore, but who knows, we’re all superidiots now https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pigeon_drop

People still fall for the "Guess Where You Got Your Shoes" trick by the little kids in New Orleans, so not surprising. I don't know how many people fell for that one when we used to go during my college years :D
