Leslie and I decided to actually go out for Valentine's Day for once! We usually avoid it because shit is so busy and we're shut-ins, but we've been watching a lot of food youtubers going to various Japanese hot pot restaurants, and there just happened to be a hot pot buffet place within driving distance. If you're not familiar with hot pot, you basically have a table with a few hot plates. You order a bowl of broth that's heated up on your hot plate, and in the case of our buffet, you go grab a bunch of ingredients that you want to toss into your hot pot. Mushrooms, squid, beef, veggies. Basically a build your own stew kind of thing with ingredients provided for you.

It was... okay. It takes a lot of conversation to constantly monitor the stuff you're cooking, so it's not really conducive to a dinner conversation. And because it's boiling hot AND you're eating with chopsticks, you basically can only focus on eating one thing at a time. I guess we were expecting something more like ramen where you can get a big bite of noodles and other ingredients in a bite, but that wasn't really the case here. It tasted okay, but it's so much to keep up with. Not sure we'll do it again, but an interesting experience regardless~

See you on Monday!

Yeah hot pot is like that, but I’m glad you guys went out for V day! That’s probably about as good a choice of restaurant you can make on that day, it’s usually a mess.
