The purpose of this build is to combat excessive boost in light tasks, which leads to crashing.

CTR requirements:

• Stable DRAM.
• Disabled Curve Optimizer (in BIOS). PBO – no matter.
• Manual CPU LLC (Load Line Calibration). ASUS - 3, MSI - 4, ASRock - 2, GIGABYTE - High. You also have every right to use whichever mode you like.
• CPU Voltage - Auto (in BIOS). Offset is forbidden.
• Windows 10 build 2004 or newer.
• Power plan – Balanced (tip).
• Some monitoring programs can cause problems. Also programs to control RGB, such as iCUE, can also cause problems. Tip - keep your applications up to date.
• Use the most actual version of the chipset drivers.
• Do not try to run 2 programs at the same time that have the ability to overclock the processor.

What's new?

* ADDITIONAL STBILITY switcher. The light load booster is now isolated from the OB. For the boost in light tasks the base OB is now 1 for ADDITIONAL STABILITY OFF or -36 ADDITIONAL STABILITY ON. These settings are part of the dynamic mode rules and the user does not have to worry about them. This allows you to increase the OB for PX, P2 and P1 (increased performance in medium and heavy load) as well as improve stability in light load.
* Warning about corrupted configuration file and improved restoring it after restarting the application.
* Other minor improvements and optimizations.

Hi Yuri, I've been hesitant to download the experimental builds just worried about stability. Do you think it's just as stable as the other builds? I know CTR is always a work in progress and appreciate all the effort but the experimental name makes me hesitant to upgrade!

You are doing an amazing work Yuri, this is getting better. I need test more but I think im getting Bus/Interconnect WHEA error crashes (and many cores at once not only one) when I have Game Mode enabled (Safe mode and 15% Game Trigger), I noticed normal WHEA errors from unstable frequencies are Cache Hierarchy Errors but this one is diferent and only happens when I enable Game Mode. I have a 5950x with x570-E mobo and the errors are happening when I alt-tab from game (I play in windowed mode) to desktop, I alt-tab many times while im playing.

I don't think you need to worry. The game mode is an experimental feature, but it's already proven itself quite well.

During these switches you provoke CTR to work in game mode, where it causes problems (desktop, light load). In this case I can suggest you Safe mode.

I was wondering if it is possible to implement a game profile for zen2 that obviously doesn't use OB, but a specific GPU usage triggers a static gaming profile (a new profile or maybe use P2), to prevent frequency fluctuations and have a constant frequency while gaming? Does this make sense or it is impossible to do?

Yuri do you know if CTR will be avaliable to new ryzen 5000G series? Im planing to buy them

tried 23, no luck. 20 was much much more stable.

elpuertorro

give him time that is a whole new monster, remember now you have the gpu tied to the whole thing, so just give it time not saying it will support it but at least let the chip come out.

1usmus

These are identical versions. Version 23 adds a softer preset switch for light load. There are no other differences.

my system crashes into black screen. You can't reboot just by pulling out the power. then if I turn it on, I must press the stop very quickly! otherwise we fall back into a black screen.

Павел, к этому посту прикреплено руководство что делать ели есть проблемы. Снизить OB - это единственное что может потребоваться. Так же напомню что для процессора нужно ручное LLC.

l tested profile no. 23 with my Asus Strix x570, 5950x CPU. The system is tested and stable. Sorry, but it keeps on crashing and even messing my windows up since it happened many times. I've tried every possible suggestion you gave us, but I had to return to v20 which is mostly stable. If only PX1 worked under all conditions. I'm wondering why it never happens when untuned original bios settings are on? It is probably silly question but Is there any possibility of a solution to make some kind of Frankenstein combining and eliminating only that moment that causes crashing? It is just a wishful idea, Otherwise it's really doing its job, and I really more than appreciate all you've done for us.

Hello, the second 5950x on my part. ver 23: platinum sample- game mode 5025 , but when playing, for example cyberpunk, the clock stays at 4540, e.g. at the PX2 profile.

Anonymous

Hi, 5800X platinum sample here, I had the same issue, switched Game Mode to Custom and now the clock stays between 4850 and 5000 when I'm gaming. Custom is the most aggressive game mode.

...experiencing regular system reboots when using the latest PyCharm Python IDE

Was there more to this bit of the requirements section? If not, what's this "tip" in the parentheses mean...? "Power plan – Balanced (tip)."

Game mode it’s simply sick, 5600x to 4.95GHz in all cores and 65 degrees of temp… so f nice

So I have never had this happen with any other versions before , but something is wrong, in my testing i use less power , have less heat and better performance with CTR Off, I made a spreadsheet with my tests - screenshots of the end results in CB 20 is there also https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1i2-RLqI36AOKB56MABI1Lwwj3cuZpU1Nh8dn6Pr2m00/edit?usp=sharing

As a couple of others have mentioned, ver.23 has been pretty unstable for me, always crashing so have rolled back to ver.20 and running a lot smoother.

Anonymous

Fyi...I've set my ob to 1 and has been pretty solid so far. I've also set my target voltage below default.. eg from 1400 to 1350 and hit calculate. Less mhz but cooler overall which makes is quiter.

got to say man, this one shouldn't have been released. Stability has to run priority over features that cant be used with any type of stability. It will crash my pc within 10 mins and runs slower than before tuning.

elpuertorro

Been stable for me since I rewired my head and stopped thinking the old way of OC. All i did was follow instructions step by step as in the pdf, exactly as in the pdf and on the second round step 2, took care of it. and not a reboot since, To make sure did it 2 times clearing Bios and config, and same results. I actually just updated my Bios Asus Ch I VIII .3601 about 2 hrs ago still no reboot but going to do a new diagnostic just in case anything changed with the bios. Will report.

1usmus

I'm glad you're having success. In the new project you will definitely see progress. Information in a few days.
