Just a quick hair update. Hjalta and Fjóla are translated into the new hair tech! Couldn't resist giving them curls. ;v; This is as good as it gets, I think, but I might tweak some things, still. It's definitely a lot better than what it was, even though it wasn't bad at all. YAY

I think this only leaves Jinjing-Yu untranslated.

LET'S SEE HOW THAT GOES

SOON

ALSO!

How would you feel if I added actual fur to all my eligible characters (so everyone except Jinjing-Yu and Adreea)? I know the whole skin thing has become a bit of my trademark, but I think I kinda want to end it. Maybe. Dunno. Don't even know how feasible it is, because fur could exceed memory limits very quickly. Gotta do some testing.

But that issue aside, what's YOUR onion on this?

I'd love to see a fully furred Kebibi. I'd probably start throwing money at you to remake all my old commissions with her.

OH! I would love to see short fur on Hjalta and Fjóla! For Kebibi and Uzuri would be interesting, I have no objection at all

Okay, so here comes a thought: Keep the fleshy versions of the characters, because it makes them unique, right? Then make the fuzzy versions another kind of alternate, in the same way you have the tiny versions. Or... and go with me on this... the fuzzies are like werewolf versions. Imagine fun, bubbly Kebibi growing even more wild by the light of the moon! The fuzz she sprouts is like a thick pelt compared to her normal smooth covering. Maybe her features shift a bit (bigger paws, yeah?), give her a bit of a hunch, and a slavering look that reflects a loss of all inhibition. It's like Kebibi turned up to 11, so to speak!

Actually Hjalta and Fjóla are highland cows, so they would be like 99% floof. ;v; Also fun fact: short and velvety fur, like a giraffe's, would be much more difficult to make than a big floof like Hjalta.

Heh, nah, that would just introduce me to a decision making situation, where there are no factors included, i.e. an impossible decision for someone like me. XD And the other thing would be the above, plus a lot more work, plus a theme I really don't like. .=. So it's either fur, or no fur. And if fur, then it's fur for everybody eligible. wheee

I imagine I would end up liking it either way. I wonder to what extent furring some of your characters would disguise the intricate body modeling you've done here. A lot of the appeal (and a lot of your composition frequently enough) relies on the curves of your models, seeing the distinct lines of their form. I am all for experimentation, but I imagine it will change some aspects of your work-- or even force you to do things a bit differently with Hjalta and Fjola (not that you haven't already treated them a fair bit differently than, say, Andreea, who usually gets depicted with geometrical motifs).

Randochi

My opinion is pretty much the same. You'd need to make an entirely new character who's meant to have hair. It would be too much of a change to have your already naked versions have hair.

So I've been musing on this the last few days, and I think I'm going to mimic the other opinions here and suggest that you should stick with flesh. I think, more than anything, that it gives the characters a very exotic appeal. You've also clearly spent a lot of time on everyone's flesh, getting to the point where everyone has a wonderfully unique appearance; it'd be a shame to have that effort masked by even more effort. And I'm not even remotely thinking that fuzzy versions wouldn't look amazing. Clearly you spend more than enough time on detail work. And while I'm rarely (if ever) one to tell a creator to curb themselves, your concerns about time/effort constraints and hardware limits might make the transition hard at best. If nothing else I'll repeat and agree with Randochi's opinion: I believe a great way to test out the fur thing would be to make a new character, of all the ones you've got in the WIP pile. Still, you've mentioned a lot this path might work with, yanno?
