Project WIP: something fishy going on here (Patreon)

inb4 tchai you dumbass whales are mammals
But you know, those mammals are very pretty fish.

And I'm making one right now, because suddenly exciting project! This absolute fish will be just a background element tho. :^) But I figured I'd share since there's literally nothing else going on here right now. ._. Am working. I also don't want to spoil too much. Just know that this project involves Hjalta. And some mild surrealism, as usual with Hjalta. Which is nice. Yes.

ANYWAY, the ridiculously sketchy sketch above was made in less than an hour. Here's another progress shot after a bit over an hour more:

Lookin fishy! At this point it took about two hours, and I think that's a very decent score considering it's me working. :^)

About 3 hours later, we have more details, better forms, and a temporary generated topology (because I may have to redo it manually, or generate a better one and also please send help I am trying too hard this is just part of the background what am I doing and why (I actually know why - because I'm thinking about maybe reusing this model in future artwork)).

So that's it for today. Very happy with this progress. This is what I'd call a solid sketch. Though I may not do much more detailing from here, since I don't want to spend a goddamn month making a regular fish. It really isn't that major in the final piece. ._.

So tomorrow I'll probably do a better topology, UVs, and start texturing. Maybe even finish texturing if I'm lucky.
