Let's kick off 2023 with a new big update for my platformer video game character series! This time, we've got:

-Specter Knight, from the Shovel Knight games. (I've now drawn all four playable characters from the series!)

-Blob, from the de Blob series. (These chill, paint-focused, funk-soundtracked 3D platformers are a personal fav.)

-Blaze the Cat, from the Sonic Rush games. (As her name would suggest, Blaze can control fire. But can she roast marshmallows safely?)

-Patty Wagon and the Ugly Secret Baby, from the Mighty Switch Force series. These (extremely good) games revolve around using Patty's helmet to switch blocks between being solid or intangible. (One such box is behind them in the drawing!) If you goof up and use the helmet to make a block solid when you're standing in front of it, it crushes you... which is why Patty looks so worried here.

-Box Fox from Balan Wonderworld. This costume-focused 3D platformer from two of the co-creators of Sonic is, uh... a bit of a mess. But I have absolutely no complaints about playing as Box Fox, who suddenly transforms you into an immovable, uncontrollable box "whenever he feels like it". It was a source of many deeply frustrating, extremely hilarious deaths.

-Kid Chameleon, from the eponymous SEGA Genesis game. Kid plays a lot like Mario, and uses various helmets to transform into different forms. (There are actually 9 helmets in the game, but I could only fit 7 of 'em in here!)

Thanks, everyone! I hope you enjoyed this latest trip through Platformer history. I'm running a little behind after the holidays, but I'm back now... so look forward to all your usual monthly goodies imminently!
