Hey everyone!

Coming at you today with a couple of updates not just on channel videos, but also on how some new developments outside of Hold Back To Block might affect scheduling a bit. First of all, I hope you enjoyed the new video on Project Slippi! It was fun to put together and it leads into our next video on Infilament and KI.Infil.Net pretty nicely. I'm currently in the middle of editing that one together and it's far along, so expect it in the next two weeks or so.

As for the next few videos, I have a few ideas in mind including a video essay on how Dark Souls can make you better at fighting games. I've been playing Dark Souls 1 a bunch due to MajinObama's and Sajam's streams and have noticed quite a few parallels between it and various other fighting games. This is a bit a of a change from my usual features, so I'm taking my time with putting it together. I'd love to have it out next month if possible though.

"Fight On" also continues to be our best received doc to date, and I've got a lot more than just the Infilament video to follow up with. I'm currently in the middle of putting together a sequel of sorts based around the audio and music of Killer Instinct! I've been in talks with Mick Gordon, Casey & Ali Edwards, and have also already recorded an interview with Omega Sparx about his work on TJ Combo's theme in Killer Instinct 2013. The hope would be to keep reaching out to folks and conduct interviews over this next month and put together something pretty big for December. I'm also trying to use this as a bridge to talking about the original KI games more as I've requested to interview Robin Beanland as well. I'll have a bit more on that next week as I should be conducting a few more interviews this weekend!

One other project I floated out on twitter recently was a "Long Live the Night" style doc on Guilty Gear. I've had the series on the mind lately due to Strive's upcoming release and would love to put something together for that time frame. This one is still verrry early, but I've briefly chatted with some folks like Patrick Miller about and gonna start more aggressive research slowly.

On a personal note, I just got a full-time editing gig. Which means that I should be a bit more financially secure with everything going on at the moment, but also that some videos may hit some slight delays due to a new schedule. I'll have to see how everything shakes out, but I've already cleared everything with my new employers and nothing will be affecting Hold Back To Block otherwise.

So to recap:

  • Infil video in two weeks
  • Dark Souls x FGs in November
  • Fight On Music sequel in December
  • Guilty Gear doc in March/April
  • Your boy has health insurance

Thanks again for the continued support. Enjoy your Halloween!
