the one you pointed out in your first video and in this one again is Harvey and she is indeed the japanese-australian member! what i love about the left right stages is the exact same outfits of the members and the covering of the eyes by the bucket hat, it makes you appreciate the choreography that much more!!

I definitely understand the conversation going around not just XG but kpop groups in general using hip hop influences that can be a bit dicey. It's a shame that in can be seen that way since they're so talented. I also just wanted to say that they're wearing stickers on their teeth (it was part of their promotion photos, they would have star stickers on their teeth). I actually thought they were braces (you'd see what I mean if you saw the teaser photos) and it felt really cool that they were normalizing that since people can get self conscious about it. Though that could just be me being totally innocent lol

KpopPrince

It's a conversation I really can't start. I just had something making me feel weird and there was an attempt to voice it 😅. All in all, it could just be then mood I'm in atm. They're extremely talented in their own right

Andreza Stefani

I love XG their are super talented, and as Global Group I dont feel any weird towards their concept. As Black person, I think that you having thid Topic towards them Its boy really Fair at All And really seems like a Excuse for Not Liking them. They are Super Talented and really Better the any Group I Stan in the moment. I think you should react to Their Pre DEBUT Stuff. THEIR CYPHER TAPE 1# AND #2 (RAP LINE FOCUSED) THEIR VOX (VOCAL LINE FOCUSED) THEIR MOVE (DANCE FOCUSED) They also have PERFORMANCE Vídeos for their Singles. Dance PRACTICES and ALL.

KpopPrince

I don't think of it as an excuse, there was just something that was rubbing me slightly the wrong way. It's hard to discuss these things during a reaction as I'm still actively discovering those feelings and working through them in real time on camera. Once I've had some time to let it settle in, I'm sure I can articulate my thoughts better than I did.

Andreza Stefani

The thing is that they are Not Kpop, Not Jpop they are Just a Group so keep that in mind.

RobotoMon

Definitely not grills lol. Those are stickers or gems. They've performed both songs with them on and been wearing them for their comeback photos. From what I've seen from comments. People don't mind them, or they think it's a nice stylistically

Dustin Koga

Art and music, in general, is subjective and I appreciate your point-of-view. At the same time, XG’s members’ earlier stuff, “Move” 1, 2, and 3 and their cypher videos show that their heavily Hip Hop and RnB influenced.

Adding to this: don't know if it's for all the members, but some of their stickers say stuff like XG, Star, etc. and they were wearing them in the Shooting Star MV as well.

i ve been one of your patrons for a long time ( i did take a break last month and couldnt help but comeback for your thoughts on xg), i must say that i m pretty disappointed in the fact that you let all that ruin the art. I 100% agree that some stuffs in the styling have been a bit problematic (braiding, haircuts; the group producer already came forward and apologized for that). You re the only reactor i ve seen ranting about stickers on their teeth, going off about the rap verses when literally all kpop verses are written and pronounced this way. not saying it shouldnt change but i don't see you pointing it out this much in other reactions. XG is hands down the most seasoned girl group out right now (from a loona and idle ult), with the best dancers and rappers, top tier vocalists, the members can do it all. And have been recently putting really good music. Also, not to find an excuse or a reason to some styling they ve had, but all members of XG genuinely grew up listening and still are listening black hip hop and rnb artits as they keep mentioning TLC, Aliyah, Missy Eliott, Kehlani (and more) as their favorite artists and role models. These girls are genuine about what they do and breathe and live hip hop/ rnb. It just feels like you don't let them a chance even tho they re proving they re more talented than most groups out there. anyway i might just also be in a mood or sad you didn't have the reaction i was expecting (you still didnt rly react to the music and performance in my eyes tho), this reaction just rubbed me in the wrong way; but i ll let you know that you are one of my fave reactors, i ve been following you on youtube since your first GIDLE reaction and i m not hating just letting you know my thoughts.

PinoyAkoPH

Yeah of course!! I definitely see where you’re coming from! Hopefully there will be a time when companies that are handling groups with this style understand the cultural impact of their style choices

Chad Williams

Couldn't disagree more with ur comments bruv not just bout xg but groups with these hip-hop rnb type concepts. It's not a black accent it's a way of speaking or rapping with confidence and because its coming from an originally mostly black genre people are looking at it weird mainly u. I haven't seen anyone bring this topic up bout xg cuz well their members and company even though its new are known for this style like yg who has roots in west coast hip hop through its founding or early groups members. Their CEO is a former idol too Simon and this is his style clearly he kept it from when he was an idol to now as a CEO and their rappers actually rap and can write plus they all are mostly fluent English speakers and speak with American accents especially maya cuz of international school with her at least if I'm not mistaken so I expect her rapping to sound the way it does. Cocona is a little hip-hop demon maknae as well but yeah I don't believe any rappers from groups I have listened to use a blaccent. They've been trained to rap and people are influenced by what they hear and build their style around that I don't find anything wrong with that I'm just white like u but I haven't seen any black people ever bring this topic up with anyone but bpink but that's bpink they're so big everyone wants to hate on them for breathing. Bpink aren't real rappers though like xgs even though they've written stuff as trainees and very few songs they don't regularly like So-Yeon write their own verses that's not what they're passionate about they're just regular idol rappers not ur exy or soyeons of kpop. They focus more on singing and Lisa dancing as their main interest but yeah u don't know enough about these girls to comment "it's just a company thing pushing them into this concept" literally every member is about this genre and plan to stick to it the members even when dancing and ofc with their cypher are very rnb hip-hop focused. You just havent seen their personalities. If u sees their behind videos, they're extremely happy and passionate about what they're doing and just happy to be doing what they love hikaru is joining them once kepler disbands as well so thats another very charismatic dancer rapper ace. Theyre extremely talented and speak Korean Japanese and English all fluently or near fluent with the English on a couple gals. They aren't worrying about whether them doing a genre that hasn't been just a black genre for decades is offensive its roots are black but hip hop as a whole isn't just black its available for anyone talented enough to do it justice just like and genre. I feel like u just looking for a reason to dislike them u didn't even watch how good of dancers they are. You should check out their its live vid they did to hear how good they are live. I don't have any issues with u btw this video just rubbed me the wrong way I'm still staying pledged don't worry we can disagree and still be cool even though living in America nowadays people would disagree with that but yeah, I like people around me with differing views than me. No yes men so yeah, I'm not mad or anything with u just in case my comments come off that way. I'm sure u wouldn't care anyways, and u shouldn't care or allow toxic people on the internet to get u down. Just try to be more open u came into both the YouTube and this with so much negativity b4 u even heard it.

Hey we all see things differently which is what makes reactions in general interesting to me. Whenever I've gone into someone else's expecting something in particular I've only been left disappointed. A lot of this was a result of feeling a certain way yet not know how to express it, which is why it kind of commandeered the reaction. One thing people need to understand also is that this stuff is so off the cuff and there will be times where things don't come together how I want. But I'd rather leave it as is than re-shoot. I see people both disagreeing and agreeing strongly with my sentiment. Not sure if there truly is a "right" way, it's all personal opinion. This is straight directed at Western audiences, so it's no surprise I might have problems as someone that doesn't like Western pop/hip-hop. One thing is that I wish people didn't take my comments and act like they're directed towards the girls as individuals. Everything is decided and at the behest of their company. That's who I question, not the talent of the performers which is obviously extremely high. I think we just have to accept that not every group is going to be for us, that's fine. They'll be a group I'll have to pick and choose from when it comes to their songs, which isn't abnormal.

Andreza Stefani

I think you should research, about their Company, their concept, the person Behind. And you Will understand.

Song

I mean you’re right. Not sure what everyone is disagreeing about. First off I hadn’t heard them yet and I think they’re awesome and really talented. I put 3 songs on my playlist already! This is 100% a blaccent. We aren’t taught to speak English that way in Asia, period. It’s done to sound awesome and cool because they admire the Western pop stars. It’s absolutely intended but no one sees a problem with it over here. But since they are clearly going for a western sound with all English, it makes it sound more uncomfortable perhaps. I don’t know how people consider those as braces, considering their styling and influences. I had the exact same reaction 😂 When I was in college in the us, it was in the middle of the BLM stuff going on. I realized then how little Asians really understand what black people experience and feel. To us, it’s basketball and “swag yeah yeah yo” and there is an entire history that jazz, funk, blues, and hip hop all come from. Most of that history is painful, which is why I imagine it’s hard as a white person to jump into the music fully. I feel like we are quite behind everyone in the West with this kind of learning. Just wanted you to know it’s my opinion that your concern is justified and valid.

John Kang

You're right on the money. Ill-conceived choices abound, and they come straight from the top.

Odd (and IMO bad) take on XG for the reasons people have already mentioned. Hope you still give the girls a chance with their dance performances and cyphers

JoshP

The comments on this post are exactly why I shy away from interacting with a big part of the kpop community. The second you have an opinion that is your own and not the same as a groups "fans" they shit on you and tell you everything you think is wrong. As if music wasn't subjective or anything like that.
