Hi all,

I just wanted to quickly let you all know roughly what was going on, as you've likely noticed things have been a bit odd on the channel this month.

As many of you will already have seen, Tabby passed away earlier this month. And the good thing was that it was peaceful, it was quick, and it happened with both of us by her side. But it was still really hard.

Tabby was an old cat, and had several long-term health issues, especially with her kidneys and pancreas. Those issues had flared up before, so when her health declined in May, we hoped she could beat it again, and we left her in the care of her vet, where she had to stay for treatment for two days. Even that early, though, we knew this was serious, and we didn't know whether we were going to lose her right then.

She seemed to respond well to the treatment; so well that we told everybody in the livestream that she appeared to be on the mend, and as a result she was able to come home.

Unfortunately, it turned out that those were her last few days, but I am hugely grateful that we got that time to say goodbye to her at home.

By the end of Saturday June 4th, Tabby was no longer able to keep down water, and it was very clear to Claire & I that there was only one kind & responsible thing that we could do, and so she passed away peacefully on Sunday morning.

We chose for Tabby to be cremated, and used the days it took to arrange that to prepare a spot in the garden for her. Her ashes were buried this last week, along with her favourite toy and blanket. It's a shady spot, and we've planted a few different types of catmint over her, so that in the future, other cats might enjoy hanging out there. This is the spot as it is now, though we may add a bit more to it yet;

Every step of the process was difficult for both of us, but we just about kept the channel running almost normally. I'm sorry that there was no Patroncast at the start of this month; the date the submission thread was due to be released was the same weekend that Tabby passed. We're hoping to have everything back to normal over the next couple of weeks, so the next Patroncast should come at the start of next month. The next PodCats has also now been recorded, so that will be available to you this next Monday.

Thank you again for your patience,

Jon

No need to apologise Jon. Losing a member of the family is very difficult so please take all the time you need.

Jon, you release a video 6 days a week. On top of that, you now run a podcast, make posts like these, and do god knows what else to keep the channel running and the subscribers engaged. When something significant like this happens in your personal life, it's the most natural thing in the world that you're not keeping up that pace for some time. People with 9-to-5 jobs generally don't. Plus, most of the regular viewers will know you loved Tabby and will understand without much explanation. And you missed, like, what, 2 videos? I think that's a bang on job, considering circumstances. There really is no need to apologise, we are not entitled to a daily video from your part. We'll cope ;)
