NOTE: Be sure to read the documentation page above with respect to the issues currently present in the camera and game engine.

NOTE: If you're on Patch 6 or Hotfix 19 or higher, you need tools v1.0.19
NOTE: If you're on the version older than Patch 6, you need tools v1.0.18
NOTE:
If you're on Hotfix 18, released on February 20th, you need to update the game to Hotfix 19 and after that use tools version 1.0.19. Your mods will start working again, Hotfix 18 was a bad release and isn't support.

Changelog:
23-feb-2023: Larian has released a new hotfix, Hotfix 19 which restores the code they removed / wrongly included in Hotfix 18. This means that tools version 1.0.19 works again with the game if it's on Hotfix 19. This is game version 4.1.1.4811634. The camera version 1.0.20 no longer works and is no longer supported, nor is Hotfix build 18 of the game.

v1.0.19:
- Fixed: If the dll was loaded from a path which contained non-ascii characters, the injection would fail with a cryptic error. It will now properly load the dll from a path with non-ascii characters.
- Fixed for Patch 6.

v1.0.18:
- Added some more code to mitigate the glitches that pop up when you disable the camera. It should now be less frequent that you experience issues when you disable the camera and it doesn't move back to the original position. It doesn't fix it completely tho...
- Corrects intercepting the camera in some situations, e.g. the level up screen and when you have the inventory open it now properly intercepts the camera.

v1.0.17:
- Fixed for Patch 5. Note to GOG users: it's likely the input switch blocker doesn't work for you. (Input switch blocker is to prevent the situation when you use a gamepad for the camera and the game tries switches to controller input when you try to move the camera. The code for Steam didn't work for Patch 4 and likely doesn't for Patch 5 either). I don't have access to the GoG build so in the case you run into this situation, go to the game settings and set input to keyboard mouse instead of automatic. Once I've access to a GoG build I'll try to update the tools.

NOTE: The tools will work for GoG (I hope), it's likely the input blocker doesn't.

v1.0.16:
- Fixed: In the character class select area, zooming in/out didn't work, the game kept writing its own zoom level. In case you use that area for screenshots, it now works.
v1.0.15:
- Fixed: properly fixed the lack of camera movement/rotation in the scenes where it didn't work (and moved the lights/shadows instead). It now also works in the main menu. Additionally disabling the camera should be less glitchy now and result in the reset of the previous camera state in most cases. If it still glitches, press HOME to reset the camera (e.g. when clicking on the ground isn't selecting the area where you clicked) or enable/disable to reset it (in cutscenes).  
v1.0.14:
- Fixed: camera wasn't working in some dialog scenes (it previously rotated the light/shadows around and didn't move).
v1.0.13:
- Added: A workaround for GoG users where the v1.0.12 tools didn't work
v1.0.12:
- Fixed: in Patch 4 some additional writes were introduced to the FoV value which weren't intercepted by the tools and which caused stutter/flicker issues in some scenes (mostly mo-capped scenes)
- Fixed: an issue with the FoV interception which wasn't always properly disabled when you disabled the camera

Not sure if anyone else is running into this with the full version... I'm able to launch the client, but I don't get the usual 'camera found' notification, nor does the hotkey to initialize the camera seem to work. Not sure if it's because of the game being updated to full version, but just wanted to see if anyone else has encountered this/has a solve?

I've mentioned it in the post prior to the release: the download is for the early access version. I'll work on getting it fixed for the final version, but that might take a bit of time as everything changed.

Thank you for updating! Downloaded the update but nothing works in game, though :/ the camera control isn't working as it's supposed to (no rotation, no normal camera movement), characters are vanishing and theres an interface bug?

Camera works here, I'm still at the ship in the beginning tho, but it can glitch, as it did in the EA version too... Sometimes characters vanish indeed, but it's not very often. There are a small amount of scenes where the camera doesn't work, and I don't know why that is. The interface issue is due to the hud toggle I implemented. If you press F10 you can hide the hud as an alternative till I have made the shader toggler which should take a day or so. This camera was a true pain to create, this was what was possible atm.

I don't know, but as larian hasn't implemented any anti-cheat it's likely it works. I haven't tested it in multiplayer.

Thank you so much! Taking it for a spin, and the camera is hooking up well while in character creation. However, I am noticing the hot sampling only makes the game window bigger and does not actually up the resolution. Is anybody else seeing something similar?

Thank you for the update! I seem to have a strange issue with the UI not actually hiding, it just stretches across the screen. I’m not sure if this is just an isolated issue on my end or if someone else has encountered this as well?

You have to run the game in windowed mode (so in an actual window), then click the 'fake fullscreen' button on the hotsampling tab to get a fullscreen window, which will then hotsample nicely to any resolution you want :)

It's not something only you encounter I've seen it here as well in some situations, e.g. when I hotsample to a different aspect ratio. I'll release a new version in an hour or so which has a shadertoggler for reshade which toggles this off (and also the rings around characters and other cruft you don't want to see in screenshots)

Hi Frans I became a patreon specifically to get this camera for BG3 game :) It works for me. the HUD toggle also works tho that one is not that important as the game has toggle HUD on F10 by default anyway. The only glitch I got is characters or parts of their body glitching and becoming transparent. it went away after I re-center camera in game but it does seam to cause little glitches in that respect. hopefully you can patch up those little bugs in time I know it's a lot of work. thank you for all amazing tools not just for this game but all of them :)

Yes, it's not perfect, sadly. In some situations things go wrong, sometimes because the game doesnt' expect a camera to be at that location and simply culls elements, other times it looks like the camera data is outdated or not 100% used and things don't work as well as they should. I sadly haven't found a better way to intercept the camera system they're using, which is nothing like I've ever seen in all the years I've been doing this now. :( If I find a way to fix it, I'll release a new build, no worries :)

hello, i noticed in outside zone near the beginning of the game with higher lod checked, some far away things like some trees, big rocks and some others things disappear until we get closer, if the higher lod option is unchecked they dont disappear from far away, i wonder if that could be fixed maybe ?

Will check. I used a low-enough value so things didn't disappear but that was in EA, I kept it for this camera, but perhaps it's too low for some situations.

It's indeed too low for some situations. I've increased it a bit and it seems to work fine now in outdoor areas. Will do some further testing and release 1.0.4 after that

There will be things that will disappear however. The problem is the same as when you disable High LODs and zoom in: details will increase and then things will disappear. I suspect this is because the game hasn't loaded these higher detailed assets for far away elements at that point and zooming in a lot (which in the game can't happen) will make the game engine pick the most detailed element but... that's not loaded, so it displays nothing (so the element disappears). I can't fix that.

https://opm.fransbouma.com/takeshot.htm Also, F12 is blocked by the camera tools by default as the camera device is 'both' so both kb/mouse and gamepad. Press Numpad . to enable/disable input to the game. But I'd use reshade, works great and you can apply additional effects.

Hey man, I seen an article that talked about your photo mode mod for the game and they showed a few screenshots that you took. One of them was a black and white shot of a mean lady. Did you use photoshop to blur the background to give it that DOF look?

I am just about to download, so not 100% sure yet, but Nvidia Ansel may work for adding DoF. If that doesn't have the options for this game, Frans also has a tool called reshade, which has a cinematicDoF menu inside of it

This is also the issue I'm appearing to have. Once I activate the camera, it seems to have a very short draw distance, heads and other body parts can be missing. Glad to hear you're working on it! :) Loving the game so far, being enjoying taking shots!

I used my CinematicDOF shader indeed. Here's a guide: https://framedsc.com/ReshadeGuides/Shaders/cinematicdof.htm You'll also find guides for reshade there :) Btw, to get the depth buffer working in BG3, use Reshade 5.9.1 or higher, use d3d11, and in the generic dof addon (on the addons tab) check the 'copy before clear operations' checkbox. The depth buffer is then working properly

Disable and enable again, that fixes it most of the time. It's rare this happens however.

Yeah, just saw last night ansel doesn't work, but CinematicDoF has been great :) Also frans, one thing that i don't know will help or not, with the objects vanishing when going into free cam. I've noticed that if i adjust the FOV to the right spot, it will go back to normal and it will stop characters and objects dissapearing. Hopefully that info can help a bit!

Cool, frans has just left the link for you, and it's very easy to install too :) I don't know what shortcuts you use for the cam tool, but you may find reshade conflict with the home key. I just changed the keys on reshade to have * (numpad) to open up the UI, and / (numpad) to activate reshade. hope it helps!

Yeah that's normal. You now have a dll in the bin folder that's not part of BG3's executables so they report that. You can safely ignore that

Ah okay. That's cool. Was wondering, do you have a video tutorial on how to use the DOF? I've read through the guide but still can't seem to get good shots. The edges around the subject are blurred and no matter what I do, it just doesn't go away.

that might be a limitation on what can be done in screenspace, as the depth buffer might be less precise (if you use DLSS for instance) and 'jitter' (if you use TAA).

Thanks for your work! I have a question. Why can't cinematicDOF of Reshade(5.9.1) be used in the game? It has no effect.

If you're using Vulkan: reshade currently has a bug (fixed in the source, not released yet) so no depth buffers show up. If you're using D3d11, make sure you check 'copy before clear operations' in the depth addon in reshade's overlay

Thank you for the tool, this is great! However I'm running into a random issue, until yesterday everything worked just fine, I opened it today and I can't move the camera anymore while in dialogs/cutscenes, there were no game updates, it just stopped working! Any solution for this?

Hi there! I'm loving this tool so very much! I've a question about gamepad bindings. Is it possible to change the gamepad camera movement(specifically up and down) from using the sticks to using the bumpers by changing something in the clientsettings.ini? I'm using an 8BitDo Zero2 mini controller and it doesn't have sticks or trigger buttons but the drop downs are locked to just using the sticks. Also is there a way to clear a gamepad binding entirely? I don't need the path bindings at all and would clear them so that they don't interfere with the ones I do use. I apologize if this isn't the correct place to ask and I'm more than happy to move my question elsewhere. Again, thank you for such a fantastic tool!

It might be you're in a specific cutscene/dialog where the game uses specific code to control the camera. This might sound weird (and in general, it is) but there are several situations where the game does things like that. (e.g. the vendor in the grove had a specific piece of code like this, you couldn't move the camera there unless I deliberately removed it). I think what you run into is the same thing. Could you describe where the conversation is? I'm still in act 1 however so might be a while before I reach it if it's further into the game

It's gone! It was not a specific conversation, but all the conversation in some of the Underdark areas, everything is working fine now

If I understand your situation correctly, I'm not sure it's possible at the moment. I've implemented that you can switch which trigger to use for e..g up down but if your controller doesn't have these then I'm afraid it's not going to work out...

Hey Frans, with the camera path tools, would there be any possibility of being able to visually see the path and then select and move nodes that way? Also, would it be possible to have a switch or something to set it to automatically start playing the next path? This would let me create one camera move with Path1, then it would cut to a different camera move with Path2 automatically. I hope that makes sense. Thanks.

Not at the moment. You can switch the path with the keyboard however (numpad 1-9 to switch between paths 1-9 if you set up 9 paths) during playback. Visualizing the path will require rendering the path in the 3D world of the game and be able to select the nodes and move them, something that would be nice in the future but not sure if I'll implement that, but we'll see

At the top of the page, there's a link to the documentation page. It has all the info, how to use it etc. Key is to unpack the zip file into a folder somewhere on your system, e.g. in my documents or your desktop. Then run the game, then run the igcsclient and click 'Inject dll'. That's basically it. Saw your fantastic Lae'zel tweet and figured this might be a fun way to spend a few hours. I'm a bit confused though, and I'm uncertain if I'm doing something wrong, there's a bug somewhere, or if this is intended behavior. I'm trying to get hotsampling to work. When I set a higher resolution like 12800x7200 (5x my native resolution of 2560x1440), the window resizes as expected, but any screenshots I take (I tried the reshade, RTSS and steam screenshot tools) are still in my monitor's native resolution and I don't see any quality improvement over a screenshot that isn't hotsampled. I also don't see any impact on load on my GPU, which I would expect to happen if the game was suddenly running at 5x the resolution. Am I misunderstanding how hotsampling is supposed to work, or is something off here? Using the latest Steam Version of BG3 using DX11, Reshade 5.9.1 and photomode tools v1.0.6 on an RTX 4090, if that helps. Happy to provide any additional info/debug stuff if that's needed.

In the game settings, switch to windowed, not borderless windowed or fullscreen but windowed. This gives the game running in a window. Then on the hotsample tab click 'Fake fullscreen' to get a window fitting your monitor. You can now hotsample to any resolution you want. If you pick borderless or fullscreen, the game will stretch but not resize its viewport to the new window size

Adore this mod, thank you so, so, so much! Was working great for a while, but I think maybe I hit a key that broke something? When I hit 0 on the numpad, which used to pause the game, it activates camera movement (like insert did) instead, and 1 and 3 stopped tilting the camera. New save didnt change anything, reinstalled and reran the camera tools. no change. Any idea what could have happened or how I can fix it? EDIT: Ignore me, not sure what happened but rebinding the keys fixed it. :)

Hi Frans! I'm really excited to use this new tool as I really enjoyed your Elden Ring version, but after injecting the tool in game, I found that the camera controls don't seem to respond? I checked the key bindings and tried to switch them to no avail. Any tips?

Be sure to use the insert key next to the backspace, not the insert on the numpad (as with numlock ON that's the pause key). Be sure you don't see any errors in the log tab, and try without any mods first.

Hi there, I'm having troubles at the first stage: Inject DLL. I ran the game in windowed mode and hit inject dll and this error message popped out: "Injection failed when performing: Writing dll filename into memory allocated in host process. The following error occurred: 操作成功完成 (it means "succeed" in my language)" Could you please tell me what to do from here? Thanks!

It's likely because the injection method uses plain ascii for the folder/filename of the dll. So unpack the zip file into a folder with ascii characters (in my documents or desktop), I think that will fix it.

Thanks! I did what you said and successfully injected dll. There's one problem though. After hitting the insert key, I can move and rotate the camera just fine, but I can't take screenshots via steam anymore. I pressed F12 and nothing happened. If I turn off the camera mode then I can take screenshots again. Sorry this question is stupid but is there a way to solve this? Many thanks!

That's because by default the camera control device on the configuration tab is set to 'both' (gamepad and kb/mouse) and input of these devices to the game are blocked. If you only have a kb/mouse, press Numpad . to allow input to the game for those devices, so e.g. kb/mouse. You can then press F12 to take a screenshot. If you have a gamepad, set it to gamepad so you can control the camera with gamepad and the input from the kb is then not blocked to the game. Alternatively, you can use Reshade to take a shot, it doesn't have this problem (as PrintScreen isn't blocked by the tools).

Thank you so much for this tool, it's such a game changer! I however can't seem to pause cutscenes, I've looked up documentation but I can't seem to find anything about it, where if I set game speed to 0 during a cinematic, audio will keep playing and the frame will change every 5 seconds or so, instead of completely freezing the game during gameplay. I'd love to know if there's a fix for this, or if it's known behaviour!

A cinematic will play till the sentence the character is speaking has finished, sadly. the game doesn't have a hard pause, so I basically set the clock to 0 (you can do that with numpad 0, enable numlock!) which makes the engine go very slow (or stop) but the animation sequence will still finish (and will indeed skip to a frame every 5 seconds or so). It's a bummer as there are some very nice frames in the animations but this is currently unavoidable.

I'm having trouble using the camera during cutscenes - when I enable it it just seems to 'teleport' to somewhere and I have to restart my game. Not sure if I'm just being stupid.

Huh, that's weird. You have any other mods running? Or is this in the beginning (on the mindflayer's ship) ? If you first press Numpad 0 (enable numlock!) to pause it, then enable the camera using Insert (the key next to backspace) does it 'teleport' then? I think what happens is that when you enable the camera, the cutscene plays along (if you don't pause it) and the scene might move location a bit, so the camera is pointing to something that's not there anymore

yeah I have quite a few mods but they're all just for appearance, not gameplay (such as clothing, faces, customisation etc) this was happening in the spider cave in the cutscene where the dark amethyst is inserted, but this seems to be the only instance of it happening so far. I have a 60% keyboard so I don't have a numpad, just rearranged the keybinds - but I was doing what you said initially, with the same issue happening.

Hmm. I do know of a few scenes where they implemented something custom for the camera, but that it was transported somewhere else is new. I'm in act 3 now so I can't go back to that spider cave (which is in act 1 I think, the village with the mill?) to test. I haven't had a cutscene where this has happened however, so I think this was a one-off. If it happens regularly in other cutscenes then something else is going on.

Hi. First of all, thanks for this! I need help tho, I can't for the life of me figure out how to take screenshots. Not F12 for Steam, nor the screenshot key for Nvidia Experience work when I enable photomode... I'm assuming I'm doing something wrong, I'm just not sure what. Hi! I'm curious about the game window blacking out and closing when I click out of it or use F12 (I record/take screenshots with Bandicam). It's not crashing, but it doesn't stay up when I click on my other monitor. Even when I'm not using the program, it does this to my game and it wasn't happening before. Just wanna know if there's something I did wrong or if there's a way I can completely disable the ct until I want to use it again!

Hi! Every time I disable HUD in the game, it still shows the highlight around my character and the in-game cursor. I really need help how do I get rid of them? :( Also, every time I disable the camera I can no longer move in game no matter what I click. And the camera seems to be the POV of my characters.

Hi, I love this tool, it's made my BG3 experience so much better! I do have a minor issue, though, sometimes when I leave the camera mode, I can no longer control my character in the game. I can only move the game's camera back and forth. A reload fixes it. Any idea what could be causing it? Press HOME afterwards if this happens, the camera needs to be reinitialized if that happens. Pressing HOME does that :)

Hello! First of all, thank you so so so much for this mod. It's everything I ever wanted!! So happy to have found it. Secondly, I was wondering: the mod currently has the limitation of not being able to pause a character's animations mid-sentence; do you think this is something that could ever be fixed, or is it just an insurmountable consequence of the engine? Know I'm terrible for not being a BG3 kinda gamer. Wanted to shout-out for the great tools you've been providing for this game (DOF addon was perfect timing too). Hiya! Incredibly silly question, but when I first installed the camera mod, I was able to use my mouse to move the camera. However, it currently only seems to be acknowledging keyboard controls. Is there a toggle for mouse that I've accidentally overlooked? Thank you so much!!

It's weird tho, I can't reproduce it with the script extender (bgse) installed... the extender works (the console is up, it logs output) but mouse input to the tools works fine when I enable the camera.

Oh my god this is amazing?? thank you!! Could I ask a question, maybe I am unable to use it correctly. When I use the camera during a cutscene, is there a way to keep playing (clicking the dialogue options)? Or would I need to pause-restart the camera every time? (the camera tends to go back to the original focus of the scene).

Also, I have a second question, is it normal that there are flashes every time the in camera game change pov? (ex. I position the camera, but then in game in the original scene the camera would jump to a certain camera, so even when I position my camera correctly I get a very quick flash of the jump). Just asking in case I missed something! Thank you!

I don't really understand what you mean... If you mean: in a cutscene you enable teh camera and move it somewhere and lighting changes, that's normal, as cutscenes use different lighting setups throughout a cutscene. It's essential to pause the game first.

Thank you for your answer! I mean that when the lighting changes, because it is a different pov in the cutscene, there is a very fast flash of the original cutscene pov. Ex. from BG3 if I am moving my camera to be far away from Lae'zel, and then the actual cutscene has the camera move back to Tav, the mod will stay in place but there will be a sudden flash of Tav's face. I don't know if this makes sense!

Lovely mod as always. I'm running into an issue where I can't change the FOV during dialogue scenes. instead it's moving the shadows of the game instead. I've tried it with both controller and keyboard and the FOV refuses to change, works fine when I'm outside of a cutscene//dialogue however

Please confirm: latest version of the game (official, not pirated), latest tools version? I haven't run into this since quite a while. There were some dialog scenes where the game used custom code specific for that scene. WHich scene are you experiencing this? (I'm in act 3 so might not be able to repro it). Do all dialogs have this?

I have the latest version of both and it's not pirated. It's in Act 1 near the goblin camp where i first started noticing it, the FOV changes when i'm not in dialogue but the moment i try and change it when speaking to Minthara or any of my companions it doesn't wanna work. UDPATE ive checked multiple areas now and it is still the same where it just changes shadows

Hmm. that's odd. I never had a problem in that area! There was one issue with the vendor conversation in the grove, where it caused problems but I fixed that some time ago. The camera rotates or moves but fov doesn't work or is the camera 100% wrong and rotating/moving also doesn't work? You have no mods installed? I know 100% for sure it works in the camp.

This is going to sound insane but i found a solution : Nvidia had turned off DLSS and Ambient Occlusion and turning them back on fixed it. It now works perfectly. I tested it even and turned them back off and same issue. But thank you so much for responding and being helpful as always

Oh! I should have remembered that. Yes, that's indeed the cause. Same for TAA. If you switch that off then the camera doesn't work anymore. Insanity as ... this is the right camera data...

When trying to adjust the camera during a cutscene, I'm running into an issue where it freezes and crashes my game, then when I reopen the game, all my mods don't work and I have to reinstall them. Also, when first opening the game after the crash, my saves are gone and it brings me to the character creation page. When I close out and reload, the saves are back. Super weird issue I'm running into :(

huh... that sounds like a serious conflict somewhere. First try to exclude teh game and the folder you unpacked the tools' zip into from Windows' virusscanner settings. I haven't heard anything related to this...

Hello, I have a problem when pausing the game. The character doesn't move but the model still moves very slightly as if you were shaking them. Maybe that's why I can't use IGCS Depth of Field? It always blurs everything even though I've set it to focus on the character? I want to ask if photomode conflicts with the Native camera tweaks mode that I installed before? If that's the reason then I'll remove that mod.

This is sadly a problem in the engine. It's not always the case that this happens, but it indeed does happen, also in regular conversations in some areas (late game for instance in a certain House you'll notice it.) I think it's related to DLAA or TAA but not sure.

Thanks! I encountered another issue with this mod while using it just then, and I'm not sure what triggered it. I was rotating the camera in a cutscene and suddenly, my camera became "fixed" along the X-axis, and I could only rotate the view up, down, left, and right without being able to move the camera's position. I tried to reboot the game and the mod but nothing works. Maybe I pressed some key or did something wrong?

So after the patch 3, I'm having issues to where I can no longer move the camera. The default number pad settings only pan the camera up and down, and no longer let me move forward/back/left/right in unlocked camera mode, I'm not sure if I've broken something, or if it has to do with the patch. I've tried it on old + new saves and it's the same issue.

Thanks so much for the mod, it works wonderfully! Is there any way to enable camera rotation interpolation for normal exploration? It would be great to use this such that the camera follows your character and wherever you rotate the mouse, that's where your character turns/looks

that's not possible with these tools. I think you're then better off with the camera mod which basically forces the game to use the gamepad camera (which does what you describe) but with keys/mouse. I think it's in the most endorsed mods for bg3.

Hi i just downloaded this mod, but when i enable the camera in game the f12 (screenshot) button for steam stops working, but works again when i disable the camera. So i cant take pictures. Is there some other button for screenshots you should press instead of f12 while having the camera enabled?

Which cutscenes does this happen with? I can move the camera in cutscenes just fine *but* there are a small set of cutscenes where the camera doesn't move but the shadows do rotate. This is e.g. with the cutscene early on with the vendor in the grove. I checked if I had forgotten anything but the engine simply doesn't use the coordinates in that small segment (same thing happens in the main menu).

I have manually selected the game process and camera module file, but the error window still pops up. May I ask why this is? I did not find the corresponding solution in the user guide.

Unpack the zip in a folder, then run igcsclient from *that* folder. You can't run it from the zip itself. So in windows file explorer, right click the zip and select 'Extract all', then go through the wizard and e.g. unpack it in a folder in my documents.

I've been trying to just be able to zoom in and out more and rotate camera during cut scenes to other angles and this was the mod reccomended to me. I bit the bullet and subscribed as I heard this was the best one so I could use it. However after I installed it and injected it, it recognizes the camera but I cant get it to do anything at all. I followed the instructions and re read them multiple times to see if I did something wrong. I've tried every button on my controler and my mouse and it doesnt seem to do anything. Either I'm missing something crutual or it doesnt work for me. Is there a walk through video or something somewhere?

There is, it's called igcsclient.exe. Please first unzip the zip file using windows' file explorer into a folder, then run the igcsclient.exe. If you don't see file extensions please check the checkbox in windows file explorer -> View -> File extensions at the right

Just to add my info to this, I just recently couldn't move the camera after activating it during cutscenes with Auntie Ethel in her cabin during her quest... had this situations few times before, one of them was also groove vendor. but than in most other scenes I can do it. so it's random and only in some scenes only, and I can't tell why and what makes the difference :)

I tried as you suggested.. now with the "oh that dude is a vamp" scene. Nothing. I can pause the game during the cutszene, hide the HUD... but can't move the damn camera. Which is basically why I installed your mod in the first place. Q-Q

Hi, I seem to be running into an odd issue where it chooses the game process to inject to keeps attempting to inject into the scriptextender debug console and the actual game process doesn't appear in the list.

Hmm. Do you by any chance run the game through the bg3 mod manager? If so, could you run the igcsclient.exe as administrator? (Right click the igcsclient.exe in windows file explorer -> Run as administrator)

I don't launch it through bg3 mod manager but I do wonder if using it was an issue. I found a workaround for the moment; uninstalling script extender, running the game to get the client to register it, and then reinstalling the script extender. I'm just not sure if that's a permanent fix. If it's not I will try the admin method. Thank you for the response!!

Oh, sorry. I did the same thing, gamepad selected in the configuration, played the game, started different dialogs in the camp with the party members. I can use the cam during exploration, I can (un)lock the HUD and pause during exploration and cutscenes, I can not use the cam during cutscenes.

You didn't unpack the zip file into a separate folder. You double clicked the zip file and ran the igcsclient from there. Please right click the zip file in windows file explorer -> Extract all -> go through the wizard to unpack the zip file into a folder in e.g. my documents.

The IGCSClient is built with .NET so your system should have .net 4.8. What app is it trying to download? That might give an idea what's going on.

It just takes me to the Microsoft store? I load my game and then I try to open it, it then takes me out of the game and tries to load the store - think this may be the issue. Though I have tried windowed and fullscreen... it still takes me to my desktop. Any tips?

Only thing I can think of is that it tries to install .net. Could you try to download .net from this link? https://dotnet.microsoft.com/en-us/download/dotnet-framework/thank-you/net481-offline-installer ? .NET is a framework by microsoft which I used to build the client with. Normally windows PCs have it installed but perhaps your windows is older or doesn't have it? Also, it might also be you try to run the wrong file and it tries to download a tool which might open the file. Like I said, please enable file extensions in file explorer. Also, unpack the zip file first into a folder using windows file explorer -> right mouse button on the zip file -> 'extract all' from the popup menu -> follow the wizard to extract it into a folder.

thanx for the v1.0.10 update, all works great here :) Also, this is might help someone else, it's not a camera bug but if someone has problem with screen shaking specifically when you pause the game and activate camera and are setting up a shot, it's not the camera, it's a game problem. make sure to go to game settings under Accessibility, and uncheck "Camera shake". This thing was bugging me for weeks now and I thought it was camera at first but turns out it's just that option :)

hi! i have the camera installed successfully and it's found in game. I am just having an issue with the key bindings since I do not have a number pad or insert key on my keyboard. How do i toggle in the keybindings and set the camera to enable by mouse? whenever I do type a key into the enable/disable I get a message box that says 'exception information: exception type: nullreference exception object reference not set to an instance of an object.'

Hmm. getting an error isn't good. You should be able to specify a different key there. Which key did you press when that occurred? You can't enable the camera with the mouse, sorry you have to bind a key, e.g. F6 or whatever.

There are a couple of situations where the camera doesn't work (the glitches I talked about in the readme). They're not common, but sadly they're still there. You'll see you also can't move the camera. I tried to find why this is and the game apparently doesn't even read the coordinates in these situations. Another one is e..g when you first talk to the vendor in the tiefling/druid grove in act 1. when the cutscene is over and you're e.g. asking questions, camera is in the same spot but it works ok.

ahh, my apologies. i knew that some scenes did act like that regardless. but it almost seemed like it was happening more often, so i thought something was funky. i think i was unlucky and kept hitting cutscenes that had this problem. thank you for the explanation! i promise to read the readme's next time too :')

Is Reshade necessary? Reshade keeps turning my display into a disco strobe (I think it's an FPS desync due to incompatibility with the GPU but that's really strange since it's an INVIDIA RTX 3080 TI which is common???)

you need reshade for the IGCSDOF but not for the tools. Strange that you run into this problem as I don't think that's common, I haven't heard about this at all. It's not some random shader that is enabled and which causes this?

I found you through an angelic tiktoker who got some GREAT angles during some b3 scenes, and I am not tech savy at all, so please help me if you can. IDK if it is because I have a bigger screen, or that I'm using a higher resolution, but when I do attempt to zoom out during cut scenes- the environment becomes wonky. Is there a simpler way to zoom out a little to enjoy the cutscenes without pressing several buttons? Like a F5 for dummies that handles the slowing down of the cutscene, and partial zoom out to catch a coughLEGHOOKcough in a coughgraveyardscenecough? :) Press Numpad 0 to pause, then Insert to enable the camera, that's all there is to it, really. Then you can move the camera around. There are some cutscenes sadly where the camera won't work, which is sadly unfixable. I haven't experienced many of these tho in my 180h playing the game.

Is anyone else having an issue where you enable the camera and your mouse moves the lighting around instead of the camera? It's the weirdest thing, I just tried using it in the Stormshore Tabernacle and both the mouse and numpad just move the lighting around, it's wild af. EDIT: It's only during certain parts of cutscenes--I swapped to a different character and it worked fine.

I'm having issues with the mouse camera controls. The keyboard works 99% (sometimes just moving the lighting around sometimes ignored like very rare though) but the mouse controls don't work all the time. I got it working after a game restart once and then it stopped working again and haven't gotten it to work since. I've disabled my other mods and it doesn't have any affect.

No it's an issue with my display I think which it hates when something is overlaying on top that requires less graphics/frames to run than the game behind it - is my theory. I haven't figured out a fix yet.

Yeah it's bizarre that this happens. I tracked down one cutscene in the grove with the vendor. There when you initially talk to him it happens too. So I checked what was going on and the game didn't read the camera coordinates of the camera structure in memory at all. (same thing happens in the main menu btw). However as soon as *that* dialog is over it's fine. Also in other cutscenes, so it's not something structurally different. The scene you ran into is indeed also one. Luckily these are rare, but I have no idea how to fix them, sadly...

I don't. I do have Invidia though and 100% of the time when I do Alt+Z it enables the mouse while I'm in the Invidia menu overlay - then when I exit out it doesn't work again. My computer has a very quirky 3080 TI apparently Q_Q

Mod is working for me, but whenever I activate camera movement the camera just starts moving upward. I can control the cameras movements just fine but I cannot stop the camera from always moving. I can lock the camera just fine but the problem is getting it to lock in a spot I want it to when it is always moving. How do I fix this?

That’s weird! Do you use any other camera mods (eg the ones for normal gameplay). You use a gamepad for camera movement? If so could you set the camera device on the configuration tab in the client to ‘gamepad’?

I often run into the issue that it shoots me randomly out of the map when I activate the camera tool, which then leaves me unable to take any shots at all. This time was especially extreme, since doing it in different conversations and also locations didn´t fix it. It seems to mostly happen when I activate it in scenes where I interact with an object from the inventory, necromancy of thay or shadowheart´s relic for example. I restarted the camera tool, but that didn´t fix it, I kept getting shot far out of the map at all times and places after that. Restarting the game to see if that´s fixing it for the moment. If there´s any way to prevent this, or properly fix it again, that would be great to know. Usually waiting for a camera switch and pressing insert again, would fix it back in position for the next time after this happens, but apparently not always. Since it definitely happens when the inventory is open, it makes sense with the items at least, not sure if it could be closed fast enough, or maybe could try to get it in the skill menu

Not directly when I open the inventory, though that seemed to happen as well if I hid the UI while the inventory was open and then tried to active and move the cam. But some scenes trigger from the inventory interaction. It happens to me every time ,no matter where I am, try to open the necromancy of thay or interact with shadowhearts artefact the first time, when the scene plays, activate the camera to move around and it just ends up somewhere above cave structure or shoots far into the sky. At least for these two items when in my inventory, I have tried many times and it keeps happening. Also happened, when the necromancy of thay is given to Astarion and the scene triggers, where he tries to read it, but I'd have to try again to confirm it's always the case, might just still have been bugged out from before. Sometimes it seems very random, but the scenes where it happens it always happens, restarted game and camera tool and scenes maybe four times with no difference.

they'll finish the sentence they're busy with, that's unavoidable, the game syncs the animation with the time... once the sentence is done, it'll pause. I couldn't find a way to pause it

Hmm. Does your windows user name contain a non-ascii character perhaps? Right-click the igcsclient.exe in file explorer -> properties -> general tab, is there an 'Unblock' checkbox? If so, check it. I honestly don't know what it could be caused by. I haven't seen this error before (the error is usually slightly different, either because a character in the path of the dll contains a non-ascii character or they start directly from the zip file)

I can only reproduce it if I have the inventory open and then enable the camera. The camera is then lost and the environment is indeed out of the map. This isn't supported, you have to have the inventory closed (as the game uses a different camera for the character shown in the inventory)

I unzipped at the C drive and tried running the program. The error didn't occur! Maybe it was a problem with the path name that I unzipped before, thank you for helping me resolve the error. Try this method if any non-English Window user has an error.

I see, thanks for looking into it. Did have the thought it would be the menu ultimately. So I guess its not preventable for scenes that play directly from interacting with the objects in the menu, unless there´s a way to close it before it plays, or maybe trying to activate it from the skillbar

Because it's blurred you mean? Disable depth of field in the game settings. Adding depth of field using IGCS DOF https://opm.fransbouma.com/igcsdof.htm is superior anyway. Does this fix your issue?

yeah that's one of the glitches I can't fix, sadly, as the game moves the camera around a lot, so the tools run into the situation that during the reset of the state to the state it had when you enabled the camera, it is moved by the game. There's a simple solution however :) After disabling the camera, press HOME when you're in gameplay, this will reset everything. If you are in a cutscene, enable/disable the camera quickly will fix it.

Run the game, not as admin (as it doesn't need to. I assume you have the official game from steam), then when you're in the menu, run the igcsclient. If you start the game from the BG3modmanager, it runs as administrator so you have to run the igcsclient also as administrator

Amazing tool! I am trying to figure out how to use my mouse to control the camera instead of keyboard (I feel that I would have more control over the camera with a mouse). I have changed the camera control device to KeyboardMouse and have toggled the blocking of input to game with Numpad Decimal, but my mouse doesn't seem to be controlling anything besides the cursor. all characters' bodies are facing the same direction that were facing when cam mode was activated. their head seems to follow valid directions. is there really no way to unlock it? i was using a cheat engine before to access cam controls and decided to use your tool to record some flyby with char moving on the screen. Isn't there a way to unlock bodies while keeping the camera locked? even with a cheat engine or something. I'm in peril. the only thing your tool had that I haven't got before were cam paths... and they are useless for capturing the action when they freeze body orientation.. I'm Ok with camera snapping to characters and ETC. as i use two PC one as camera man and second to control the character on screen...man help me here. i can do something amazing with your tool but not when it freez all the actors

You can't control the orientation of the characters, as that's controlled by the game (i.e. where you click on the ground)

You enabled the camera with Insert and it does move when you press numpad 4/6/8/5 keys? You don't have to press Numpad decimal btw, it's auto-blocking input, you only have to press that if you want the game to receive your mouse input.

And enabling camera mode freezes their bodies X Y Z orientation. no matter what i do all actors are frozen to the XYZ rotation they were when I push "insert" . I can control them, move them on XY plane etc.. but their bodies are frozen ... whats funny their heads aren't. And i mean all actors, i checked and NPC are frozen too. i think your camera mode instead of freezing the camera actor is freezing all the actors.

The game as a 'game camera' with a lot of data no-one understands. There's also an engine camera which contains coordinates + quaternion, which is easy to understand. The latter is calculated from the former. the characters' orientation is calculated from the former too. I change the latter as the former isn't understood. The latter controls how you view the world. So when you enable the camera you can move the view of the world to wherever you want, but the *game* camera stays the same. Hence the characters all face that direction. I spent a considerable amount of time on this, as well as over 200h of gameplay. I know what happens when you enable the camera and what does and doesn't work.

I'm sorry but I now have to change descriptions of tools because you apparently feel you're mistreated/lied to or something? I tried very very hard to create the best tool possible. Some things aren't possible, it's not a tool made by the game developer but by someone outside the studio with 0.0 knowledge of the actual code base/source code. It is what it is. I even spent time today to see if I could find a workaround but the game does this no matter what. That's life, I guess. Most videos made with my tools are videos where the camera flies through the world. This game isn't a game for action shots in video format. This is my final remark btw. Please unpack the zip file into its own folder. Make sure there's no non-ascii character into the path. To extract everything into its own folder, right click the zip file in file explorer -> Extract all -> follow the wizard.

It might be to do with the game's input system. Do you play with gamepad perhaps? When you're in the game, you can rotate the game camera with middle-button + mouse move, right? After that (so no alttab) you press Insert and it doesn't move at all when you move the mouse? I Just tested it and I can't reproduce it, even if I have the input set to gamepad in the game's settings. Keep the input blocked to the game btw. No other camera mods installed too I presume?

I do not play with a gamepad, just keyboard and mouse. Yes, I can move the game camera with the middle mouse button + mouse move. I press insert, and the camera does not move when moving the mouse, it only moves with the keyboard. I only have one camera mod (Native Camera Tweaks), but I just removed that mod and I still have the same issue. I did a little testing, and figured out that if I hold the middle mouse button, and then press insert, and then let go of the middle mouse button, the mouse movement for the camera works! But, that fix does not work when in dialogue. It only works when I'm just walking around. I have also just read a previous comment that kind of had my same issue. They had the script extender installed. I also have the script extender installed, so that might be the reason. Thank you for your response though!

that might be it indeed, honestly though, I couldn't reproduce it with the script extender installed, it worked fine on my system. Something is intercepting the mouse input tho. By default mouse input is distributed to the game and to all other code running within the game (so the camera tools), however it apparently doesn't reach my camera tools in some situations, it's however hard to track down what it could be!... Keep me posted wrt the script extender

that's sadly not going to work out without cursing, I'm afraid... When you activate the camera, the game loses its ability to focus the characters so they'll point to one direction and go bezerk. I don't know where that's located however so cant' fix it...

Either one of two things: 1) you didn't unpack the zip file (please do so) 2) if you did unpack the zip file, make sure the file is in a folder with only ascii characters. This is currently a limitation in the injection code: the path has to be all ascii, so non-ascii characters don't work. (e.g. unpack the zip file in c:\cameratools should work)

I have unzipped the zip file, run IGCSClient.exe, and then click the 'inject dll' button. An error occurred and access was denied. The path is all in English, this is my folder path: D: \CameraTool

huh,. that's really strange... Could you check in windows file explorer: right click the igcsclient.exe -> properties -> general tab and see if there's a 'unblock' checkbox? If so, check it. Same for the tools dll. Also, if you run the game as admin, then don't run the game as admin.

Post it on imgur and paste the url here please. However the error you get is because the client isn't allowed to create a thread in another process (the game). This is unusual... So it's likely blocked by something, but it's unclear what. Putting the folder you unpacked it in into the excluded folders of your virusscanner perhaps? Or copying the files of the tools into the game folder? (so it doesn't get seen as foreign by the virusscanner)? I suggest that because an external piece of software (IGCSClient) injecting a dll into another process (game) is something virusscanners don't like (rightfully so in other cases, but this time it's required to get the dll working)

I've attached a debug build of the tools. I still think it's something with a virusscanner, and these don't trigger when I use debug builds, they sometimes trigger on the release builds with false positives and block interprocess access. Could you please try the debug build I attached to the post to see if that might fix it? (Edit) Of course *today* the game gets a major update which breaks the tools... :(

Hello, this mod used to work perfectly well for me, but since i updated it to patch 3 (my saves are from patch 2) i cant start the camera, other buttons work like hiding HUD, it's not the problem with key biding because i checked other keys

If you run the game from the BG3 mod manager it likely runs as administrator. In that case you have to run the igcsclient.exe also as administrator. If you run the game directly as administrator, you too have to run the igcsclient as administrator (but you shouldn't run the game as admin, it's not needed).

That might be the reason indeed. The pattern that's not matching is for the input code and I use the Steam version. For testing, could you try the D3d version? I'll see if one of my friends has the gog version and if they can send me a memory dump so I can see what the differences are and fix it properly for you and the others who run into the same problem.

It's strange, when I first inject it the initialising and camera found notifications show, but no others do. Is it uncheck to show them? I thought it was check to show them, since it says 'display notifications'? I've tried it both ways (completely restarting the game and injecting DLL again) and no changes with it checked/unchecked only that the initial start up notifications don't show when unchecked.

the checkbox has to be checked, so if it's checked, keep it checked. If you enable the camera you don't get a notification but in the log tab it says 'camera enabled' ? If it doesn't say camera enabled, you didn't enable the camera. If you press Insert (next to the backspace key) and nothing happens check the keybindings in the keybindings tab

I use Dx11 on GOG. My game version is 4.1.1.3905231. I removed all my mods, and I tried Vulkan, but it still doesn’t work. I can confirm the pause/gamespeed related keys do work, as well as Toggle HUD. For some reason, it’s only Enable/Disable camera that doesn’t work.

Oh and I am using the GOG version - but as I said, version 08 worked absolutely perfect with BG3 Patch 3. Since the updates it isn't working... Sorry for the bad news in this case ....

im not sure if this is a game issue or a specific issue i have, but have times in bg3 during a cutscene where the camera gets locked in place/snapped back into place when a dialog prompt comes up. it doesnt happen with every interaction either, but for example is happens consistently with the scene with Haarlep (the very first dialog prompt). is this something that can be bypassed or is this just something the game does that cant be fixed? or perhaps i am doing something wrong haha. it seems when it gets locked in place, and i do turn on the camera, the lighting move as if i were moving the camera as well, but the actual camera is where the game intends it to be.

No, you're not doing anything wrong, there are some scenes where the camera doesn't work, the engine uses a different piece of code apparently as the camera data, while altered, isn't used for rendering the scene (but the same code which does use it in other scenes, is still using it!)... I've tried a lot of things to figure out why this is but till this day have come up empty. Another scene is e.g. when you talk for the first time with the vendor in grove. Weird thing is if you proceed with the conversation and then reach the menu where you can select the conversation to purchase something, it works fine! (same camera angle). Luckily these scenes are rare, but yeah, for now these aren't working... perhaps I'll find it in the future...

Since the update I've had an issue after starting the camera where I don't get any popups to show what I'm doing. I get the initial notices saying initializing and that the camera has been found, but after that nothing shows up.

I use D3d, although I have steam open I do use the BG3 mod manager to launch the game not directly through steam. Could that be an influencing factor? It has worked on previous versions though so not sure what could have changed. I'll try on windowed, and if it still isn't working I'll try loading directly through steam.

I normally use borderless windowed and it didn't show up there, but when I tried it with windowed instead it worked! Hadn't had that issue before but changing that solved it

Thanks for the feedback! Borderless windowed is basically fullscreen without the mandatory minimizing when you alt tab (windows will optimize the game if it's in this mode as if it's in fullscreen) so that might be it (the window is likely 'on top' of the popups) but that's a guess from my side, no idea why it suddenly stopped working after patch 4 tbh.. Windowed is preferable here anyway, as you can then hotsample to a higher resolution than your monitor to take your shot :)

Below in the comments it was mentioned that running the game in borderless windowed (basically fullscreen) does block the popups from appearing. Could you run the game in windowed mode please? (and use fake fullscreen to get a fullscreen window)

Since the latest update the camera doesn't work for me like it did a few days ago and it keeps causing the entire game to crash and the error message to send to Larian Studios comes up, is this just because of the new patch or am I doing something wrong?

Using 1.0.13 with Patch 3 now. All three versions of the camera that have been updated in the meantime have a common problem. I can successfully inject the dll, but I can't start the camera after pressing the INSERT button in the game. Sorry for my bad English. I don't know if I expressed myself clearly.

Please specify which version you're using (Steam or gog), (I assume a non-pirated game!), that you checked all mods (and also tried without mods), if you're using vulkan or d3d and when it crashes exactly (also check if you see errors in the log tab of the igcsclient)

That's because patch 3 is old, you have to update your game from steam, any official build has patch 4. the tools work only with official released games, not pirated copies.

I use Steam, paid for and legit, I can open the client when the game starts but the camera does not trigger so either when I close it or try to open it again, that is when it crashes

You start the game, you get to the main menu (where you see the continue, load game etc.) then you inject the tools using the igcsclient. In the IGCSClient you have a log tab, it shows if there are errors or not. In the *game*'s main menu (with the continue, load game etc. buttons) you see in the lower right corner a number, 4.1..... what is that number?

hmm slightly mixed results-- i actually tried it right away on the main menu and it moved for a bit until getting locked where ever i moved it to, and the only other scene i know it happened for sure for me was Haarlep's which sadly still snaps into place. made sure my window for the client said the right version too.

Main menu indeed doesn't work still, I had a save with Zevlor where it didn't work and it now does. I don't have a save with the haarlep scene, so can't test. I have the exact same version but here it works fine? The errors you get is when you use an older version (1.0.10/11) with patch 4. Please make sure you use 1.0.14.

i uninstalled the native vamera tweaks and wasd control, launched game by vulkan(mod manager) and dx11, it still couldn't work, sad. Maybe i need to uninstall all mods or re-download the whole game?

emmm, i apologize, i found the problem. when i choose the process bg3/bg3_dx11.exe, the 'dll to inject' directory path(auto chosen) is still the old path where i put the v1.09 in, i have to choose the dll path manually, then the mod run successfully

Just download the zip file, unpack it over the files of the previous version, done :) No need to reinstall the game or anything. If you unpack the zip on top of the files of the previous version (keep the tools for different games in different folders) you keep your settings

If you're starting the game through teh BG3 mod manager it runs as admin, so you have to run the igcsclient.exe also as admin

Thank you so much for this camera mod! It's my favorite past time in the game nowadays. I encountered some troubles after downloading the recent update of the tool, specifically with hotsampling. It was working fine, had all the proper settings done, took so many screens using hotsampling but since the v1.0.15 i can't seem to make it work properly. The screen does change resolution in game but when I take the screenshot, it simply remains the native/original resolution instead of the changed/upscaled one I set. I simply can't find a way to fix this. Did I mess up some settings or what could cause this issue usually?

Make sure the game is in 'Windowed' mode, not borderless windowed, and e.g. use Reshade to take a shot of the game. I always use reshade to capture screenshots

This is my first time using this. Is there any notification that tells you if the camera is on or off? It looks like it is connected to the game correctly but nothing happens if i use any of the controls. It does say that both the camera and client dll are active and i'm connected to bg3_dx11.exe. i've tried resetting them to different keys, but nothing. I'm not sure though if the camera is enabled/disabled to test.

You likely have the game in fullscreen mode. THe notifications will show but only when you have the game in windowed mode (not borderless, but windowed). You can do that in the game settings. Then on the hotsample tab in the igcsclient, click on 'fake fullscreen' to get a fullscreen window. The notifications should appear in the top left corner

there may be different notifications you're referring to - i see the ones on the load screen, but you're referring to something in game while it's up and running there's nothing there in fake fullscreen or otherwise

ah ha! found the issue - camera only works if you load through steam. i usually do not and run directly from the exe. launching from steam enabled camera functionality.

Piggybacking on here as I'm getting this same result in the logs. I didn't notice it until after I installed Reshade, but I can't be 100% sure if that's what caused it. I've double checked my install of Reshade and as far as I can tell I've done everything correctly. I'm using d3d11 in windowed mode (have tried Vulkan too) and it doesn't seem to matter which way I launch it - I've tried directly from the exe, through mod manager, and through steam. Game is fully updated on patch 4/hotfix 10. Any help is greatly appreciated!

Reshade has nothing to do with it. I don't understand what you mean with 'didn't notice it', as these errors suggest something's seriously off and the camera won't work at all, so you will notice that right away? I load the game till the main menu and then inject the camera, works every time, reshade installed etc. etc., no errors.

I just mean that it had been a couple weeks since I'd tried to use it, so I can't say for certain if the problem existed before the new patch/installing reshade or not. It's worked perfectly for me for months until now and those are the only things I can think of that have changed. I've tried injecting the camera at different stages and can't seem to get different results - it appears to find the camera but the keybindings don't work and the log shows those errors. Your errors are exactly the ones you get when you use the old camera (so 1.0.11 or so) with patch 4. Please be absolutely sure you use the latest version of the camera tools (1.0.16), and make sure you copy the dll and igcs exe properly.

Check the 'camera device' setting in the configuration tab on the igcsclient, see if it's set to both or gamepad. Also check if the camera even works because you might have an outdated game installation (which shouldn't happen if you have the official game). E.g. see if there are errors in the log tab

Might be a stuck key in the buffer, this game engine seems to suffer from that. Sadly I don't know a fix for that. Do you use a gamepad for camera movement? If so, could you switch the 'camera device' setting in the configuration tab of the igcsclient to 'gamepad'?

Curious is their a way to to stop the camera from going cloudy when watching scenes like romance scenes ect because you either have to zoom out very far or very closely in and by then the characters have moved and you have to move again to get it to look clear

is there any way to access previous builds of the mod? I haven't updated to Patch 4 yet since it breaks the script extender and a lot of mods, but as a tradeoff, this latest build of the mod only works with the latest patch, so I was hoping to maybe find a version that would work with Patch 3 :) thanks

Freeze the game using Numpad 0. You can then enable the camera and move it to whereever and take your time. You can also switch on gamespeed control (using hte slider in the misc tab on the client or Alt-\ + Alt-[ and Alt-] to change the speed) to control how fast it goes

just thought id comment noting a thing which seems a tad more complicated than that issue w the camera not detaching (its actually a weird opposite to that old problem). perhaps you have seen, in scenes when moving the camera away, you can see jumps of where the lighting is as it technically changes to those new shots, cuz the lighting is in a fixed location. so the camera is now detached, but the lighting is *not*. this obvs seems a bit more than what this mod should do probably? but it is interesting considering the previous issue had to do with the camera not moving but the *light source* moving instead... so again, not sure if its worth saying if thats too complicated but wanted to mention it anyways considering the way it was working before

I think you are referring to the lighting changes in a cutscene that's playing and you enable the camera? Cutscenes are often special orchestrated setups where for each camera cut a complete new scene is fabricated (models even being repositioned, lighting is changed, etc.) so when a camera cut in the cutscene is happening, lighting can change I otherwise don't think I understand what you mean?

If you get errors in the log tab then you have a game version that's too old (and things won't work). Official game releases are on patch 4/hotfix 10 and the tools only work with the latest official releases

its basically what had been noted pre having fixed the camera being locked in some scenes of dialog but were instead moving the lights. like, in short: i was curious about the fact it *was* moving the lights at all instead of the camera in the old version, now that we have the camera moveable but lights stationary. because the fact the lights could move at all was a surprise to me when i realized the issue-- is there are connection that can be made between these two where they both could theoretically move together with this mod? not really saying this as a practical thing to have or do, but more so from my own curiosity as to whats was going on with the lights/camera from a tech side (if you have any proper idea lol)

Hey there, I'm on v1.0.16 and having an issue in the character creation screen where it occasionally bounces me to the portrait mode when initializing the camera no matter what I do. Is there something I missed that I should be doing to disable that or is it a bug?

did the newest hotfix break controller support? i can't use controller inputs for the camera at all, even when gamepad and both are selected for use.

ah :) What previously was the problem is that the shadows etc. are rendered by placing 'a' camera at the light and then draw a depth buffer, so you get depth information how far the geometry is from the light. If you then render the shadows you can use that from the perspective of the real camera (which produces the image you see). The camera tools intercepted the function which returned the camera object but in some situations it got mixed up with the wrong one, so what it got was one of the cameras used to render the depth information for the lights, which meant rotating the camera meant rotating that one, causing the shadows to move.

Yes that's sadly unavoidable as the game uses that camera to render the mug shots. There's a 'workaround', move the camera a bit up and over the mountain you see, as your character is located there :)

I have the latest version installed, however I'm having an issue where when I press "0" on the numpad, it doesn't pause the game. It keeps going until the current line of dialogue is finished, which tends to ruin the shot I was trying to get. Is this just something that will happen, or can I fix it somehow?

There's sadly nothing to do about that, as the animations are synced with the audio and the audio will keep on playing till the sentence has been finished. I haven't been able to find where to pause the audio so I don't have a fix for it...

for me after the bg3 latest hotfix, it was steam, big picture mode added controller profiles for bg3 and kept overiding my controller settings (ps4 controller) I disabled controller profiles for bg3 in steam and it worked fine afterwards.

Because the latest version is needed with the latest version of the game is the one you get when you use e.g. steam. Older versions are often pirated versions of the game and I don't support pirated games.

It's a false positive. Some virusscanners don't like files being downloaded from the internet which inject dll's into other programs (which the client does, it injects the dll into the game process to make the camera work). It's sadly something that's unavoidable at times... Even signing the executable doesn't fix it... You can safely ignore it for my tools.

Download the zip, unpack it in a folder, if you already have files there, remove them, then run the game and in the menu start IGCSClient and inject the dll. "doesn't seem to register" is a bit vague. If you did all the above again, what exactly is it that goes wrong?

if you want the most up to date version you have to download the new file everytime. The old files can be saved if you want, but they're basically obsolete unless you plan on rolling back the bg3 patch(patch #5 in this case) which might not even be possible depending game to game.

Thank you for the fantastic work! Just one thing- I've been using this yesterday, it's been fantastic, all was up to date, but they released a hotpatch today and now the pause button seems to no longer... Well... Pause. Same goes for camera movement, though I did manage to pan it around from a set point. I definitely checked key bindings and everything, and it was working perfectly before, also tried re-downloading just in case, but no luck. I'd appreciate any advice, it could be that I'm just being silly!

Hi! The mod is great, but the depth of field is usually low so it is really hard to get non blurry portrait if there is anything is the foreground, could not find how to adjust the depth of field, any advice? Thanks :-)

I disabled the dof in the game settings which fixed it. The in-game dof is pretty bad anyway. For adding a dof to your shots, I use IGCS DOF (which works with this camera, see: https://opm.fransbouma.com/igcsdof.htm Or if you want a real time solution, use my cinematic dof for reshade :) (It's in OtisFX)

The first time I started this program it worked fine, but when I injected the dll from the game main menu after installing two appearance-related mod(1), the program popped up an error box(2), and the options on the menu bar for key binding and image adjustments are all grayed out. The bottom left corner of the program shows: Not connected. Is there any way to make this application compatible with the installed mod? Please unpack the zip file you downloaded from this page in its own folder, and don't use a non-ascii character in the path, so e.g. c:\mycameras\bg3 will work. You can't use non-ascii characters at the moment, it's a limitation.

You could delete the reshade ini files in the game folder, that will reset it to defaults. Perhaps the menu is in a location outside the screen. Other than that, it could be anything.

Hi, i'm using the ps4 controller and trying to take screenshots. I usually use my keyboard to enable the camera and then use the controller to move it. But for some reason the camera will not move on the controller when I enable it. It used to work before. Any help is appreciated. Thank you!

For a ps4 controller to work with the tools, you have to use DS4windows, and likely also HidHide (from the same website as DS4windows), so the ps4 controller is seen by windows as an xbox controller.

Hi, this is most likely a super easy fix, but I'm just not sure how to do it- when I go to use the depth of field controller and click "start dof session", the entire section is missing. Hi, i love this mod so much! im having a huge issue with it though even with the newest update to this mod, it continues to break my game. i install it the way the instructions explain to. but after using the camera and disabling it by pressing insert, i lose all ability to rotate the camera the normal way with the middle mous button. ive tried resetting the settings in the game, the keybind settings, ive tried changing the keybind to other controls to see if it will work, but nothing works. the rotate and camera controls are completely broken in my game after using this mod. lve tried it three times with 3 new games and it happens every time. even removing the mod, the game remains broken where i cant rotate the camera at all. i have to go back to a loaded save where the mod hasnt been used yet for the camera settings to reset in the game. not sure if this is just happening to me or not but id love to be able to use this mod still as its so gorgeous!

After you disable the camera, and it doesn't come back into the same spot (it happens, sadly, see the known issues section on the documentation page), press the HOME key to reset the in-game camera. Does that work for you?

If it's in a cutscene/conversation, try enable/disable again (Insert twice). I know this is cumbersome, but it's sadly the only way to reset it as the game moves the camera data through memory and it can be the location my tools write back the original data isn't the active camera anymore. For my understanding, the situation you're describing is when you e.g. pause the game, enable the camera move it somewhere, and then disable it and it doesn't move back to where it was but stays there, with the shadows/lights all wrong?

Hey Frans you might already know this but I just wanted to say I noticed finally what is really causing occasional strong camera/screen shake sometimes when inserting the camera... it's the mouse. smth about the mouse input acts like the mouse shakes... I managed to recreate it many times so it looks like that is it.. when I insert the camera and it starts to shake, I lift the mouse from the table turn it sideways, so that the laser loses contact for a second, and than it stops shaking. than I continue to set up shot with controller. so I thought you might want to check out if it's smth in the code that is making the mouse do that. Otherwise no problem with the tool :)

yeah sorry the mouse sensitivity factor. Also the movement/rotation interpolation factors, if you set these to a (very) small value (so not 0 anymore) this can also greatly smooth out mouse-induced stutters/shakes

Thank you for the tools! I have it injected correctly and insert properly enables the camera. However both the arrow keys and numpad keys do the same thing, rotate camera left/right up/down. It won't move forward or back or up and down. It's unresponsive to the mouse completely. Have I set something up wrong? The key bindings of the tool are all default.

are you using the right numbers? 4 and 6 rotate camera left and right. just like arrows yes.. You need to use numpad 5 and 8 to move it back and forward. And 7 and 9 to move it up and down.

You first have to enable the camera with the key you bound to enable camera. (by default this is insert), then you can move / rotate it. Pause always works also when you didn't enable the camera. Be sure to read the page I linked to above, also for e.g. small glitches you run into when disabling the camera (which might happen, which you can get rid of by pressing the HOME key afterwards).

in all scenes when camera is enabled, yes. i checked that it doesn't depend on the place my chars are standing in. when i disable camera - everything becomes normal. reshade was turned off the whole time too. in borderless windowed mode everything is superb tho

I had an issue with it not working after Patch 5 update, but I figured out native Steam settings to make it work! Just make sure Steam Settings > Controller > PlayStation Controller Support is Enabled, NOT Enabled in Games w/o support (I think Patch 5 pitched an update to change it? unsure but this fixed it for me!)

Okay I've got the camera installed and working and it's amazing! But I keep having an issue where it'll get blurry and/or my tav will get really dark like the brightness on him got turned down. Any ideas?

That's strange. Could you try in the camp, not in a cutscene but in normal gameplay, so not a conversation, and enable the camera. does it work then?

Blurry is because of the depth of field in the game, please disable that in the game settings. In a cutscene the lighting will change if you don't pause it (and so do the cutscene camera points) so it might be the light is going off, however if you are in normal gameplay, pause the game with numpad 0 and then enable the camera and the shadows move and not the camera then something's wrong

The blurry issue is fixed! The shadows are fine but I do have issues with parts of the view going away? Like my characters hair won't show, or halsins head is missing or part of the back ground goes away. Usually I can keep moving until it comes back but it doesn't always work for angles. I have a video but I can't post it here.

It likely happens after you disabled the camera. this is a glitch with the tools that I can't fix as the game moves the camera through memory (long story, but after many attempts I failed to fix this issue). When that happens, press HOME to reset the in-game camera. If it happens in a cutscene, enable/disable the camera to fix it again

Ah that's because of DLSS I think, and as you paused the game, the game isn't really friendly with the anti-aliasing. Try using TAA (or DLAA if you have an nvidia card that supports it). To mitigate it for shots at least, you can hotsample to a high resolution which makes the edges become much less visible

Hi, lately I have encountered one problem with the software. Maybe because of recent patches. Trouble is during the cutscenes, when I try to pause the game, it tearingly moves like three or four times before it stops moving. And when you unpause the game faces move in strange way, like they would chase the "lost frames".

That has always been the case. When you are in a dialog, and you pause mid-sentence, the sentence audio will play till the end of the sentence, and the animation will keep playing till that is done. Sadly I havent been able to find a pause for that in the engine, so that's not fixable

Is this mod compatible with the Native Camera Tweaks Mod and/or the WASD Movement Mod? I’ve seen that it works somewhat but I’m getting a weird bug where i enter a glitchy first person mode when i disable the camera and wanted to see if it was due to incompatibility.

Not sure, I don't use these mods, but I can imagine they might be incompatible at some point. If you disable the camera and the camera doesn't move back to the original position, that's one of the glitches I talk about in the Known Issues section at the top of the documentation page: https://opm.fransbouma.com/Cameras/bg3.htm. Press HOME or Enable (and then disable) the camera to fix it

Please unpack the zip into a folder which only has ascii characters, e.g. c:\mycameras\bg3. This is a limitation of the tools.

I subscribed yesterday and I was able to download and use the cam just fine.. but today, I'm not able to launch the program at all. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, turning off and on my pc and nothing has worked. It does the thinking cursor for a few seconds but it doesnt actually open now and I dont know why.

That's strange! :( You start the game, wait for the menu, then start igcsclient.exe from the folder you unpacked the zip into and click 'inject dll' or it doesn't even start the igcsclient.exe? Maybe your virusscanner has blacklisted it because it injects a dll into another process (the game)? (the igcsclient.exe has to do that, but virusscanners might see it as unwanted behavior).

Hi, i discovered something interesting and I want to report it. When AMD FSR 1.0 and AMD FSR 2.2 are turned off, there is a distortion in the fov setting. When I open either of them, the problem is solved. Maybe you know, but I wanted to write it anyway. Have a nice day <3 (this only happens in dialogues)

I don't use either of them, but I also don't see distortion in the fov (or perhaps I dont fully understand what you mean by that). Could you describe the effect you're seeing with those 2 disabled?

Hi! I've downloaded this kit and the program itself seems to refuse to initialize. No window shows up to even allow me to inject a process, even when I run the .exe as administrator. Any tips?

Please unpack the zip into a folder first, then run the game, wait for the menu and then start the igcsclient.exe and click Inject DLL. No need to run game/igcsclient as admin.

hi! im running into an issue with using this cam mod, each time I pause the game for screenshots and then let it run again the game gets stuck and I have to force close it through task manager

Hello :) I'm running into an issue in the game. When I start my game, if IgcsDOF is enabled then my screen is completely black. I can still hear the music, and click around, but it's completely black and I can't see anything. I did the reinstall of the game and everything and it seemed fine until I loaded the game back up after a play session. It's the same thing. I have the newest reshade installed and the camera tools are up to date as well. Kinda stuck because I post screenshots on tiktok and twitter :( It only goes away if I toggle IgcsDOF.fx off, but then with that being off, I can't technically use it.

Hmm. I think it's a setting for a variable for IGCSDoF.fx that got into a state that is only reset when you inject the tools. If you open the preset ini for reshade (which is likely default.ini) in a text editor, e.g. notepad, you will find a section for igcsdof.ini. Remove it, save the file and click Reload in the reshade overlay (or restart the game). That will reset the settings for igcsdof to the defaults and should fix it.

Is there any way to get rid of the dark border/vignetting that occurs with the Igcsdof.fx for Reshade? I just happened to notice it today when I went to go edit a screenshot I took today along with hundreds of others I took. I didn’t see any type of setting on the Depth of field tool, and increasing the bokeh size made it even worse. If there’s any advice or fix please let me know 🙏🏽🙏🏽 if not I’ll just have to manually photoshop it

Sadly, no... :( The frame that's rendered is repositioned so the in-focus areas align, but that leaves an edge around the image (you can see this when you use a high number to wait each frame and a huge bokeh size), so these pixels have to be 'faked', and there are several options, but none give the ideal no-edge blur. Inner-to-outer and no spherical aberration gives the least edge.

You're in-game, you have started IGCSClient and clicked 'inject dll' and there are no errors in the LOG tab of the igcsclient? If there are no errors, and you press Insert (the key next to the backspace key) you don't see 'camera enabled' popping up ?

Hi! Apologies if this has already been answered but is there a way to get rid of the flickering that happens during dialogue when using the camera? For example I was trying to record a kiss between my tav and their romanced companion, but the screen will flicker everytime the models move, at the same time the view is intended to change in normal view, if that makes sense.

There's sadly not a way to get rid of this atm. I tried to find where the call comes from but the game copies a block of data on top of the camera location using a generic windows function so I don't know the origin (there are ways to find this but these all ran into dead ends... :( ). It happens with every camera cut.

hi Otis! so i downloaded the mod earlier and it was working just fine, but then suddenly half the functionality stopped working. i can only rotate the camera in one spot, i can't move back and forth and cannot ascend and descend. and i can't tilt camera either. any help would be lovely.

Are you using the keyboard? If so, check if Numlock is on (as it should). Also if that's all ok, do you use a different camera mod too for gameplay?

Hi Otis, I got your camera mod a month ago and I absolutely love it! Sadly I'm having some problems with it and I'm not sure why. Everything was ok till a week ago and now the camera movement is not as smooth as it used to be. Everything is updated, I haven't changed any settings, my game runs on ultra/high graphic. I'm using xbox controller to move the camera and I'd say I'm pretty good at it, I was able to achieve very smooth movement previously, but now when I zoom in/out the camera moves to the right/left a little bit. Or when I rotate around the character the camera zooms in/out and skips frames and shakes. Hmm. nothing really changed in this area, so not sure what it can be. It's not 100% in sync with the framerate. This isn't enabled for this camera since the beginning as it supports both vulkan and d3d11 and syncing with the framerate can only be done with d3d11, so it would cause serious problems if people use vulkan and use the camera.

Hey! I have an issue with FoV increasing/decreasing on my mouse wheel and on numpad "+-", it makes moving the shadows in the game, but camera itself stays still. How should I fix it? Thank you! And sorry for bothering you.

Hello, I am using this photomode along with the shader toggler, the DoF tools etc along with reshade and I noticed that reshade now causes the game to start and after the brief flicker of the larian logo, the screen goes black, with audio still playing. I did update your tools, but I was wondering, do you know of a solution to this? When I uninstall off the reshade completely, the game runs well, but I cannot use the tools.

This is when you enable the camera in a particular scene or always? YOu're on the latest game version and use 1.0.19 and have no other camera mods installed (like native camera tweaks) ?

Likely some shader is active and causes the screen to go back. Perhaps it's the IGCSDOF that got stuck. Could you delete the igcsconnector.ini file and try again? If that doesn't work, check if you have a shader enabled in reshade that might be causing it (so disable the shaders you have active and see if it now is ok). I had this ones with RealLongExposure, rebooted the PC, tried everything, couldn't find it, and it turned out it was a shader in reshade I had to disable 😅

Hi, I'm probably missing something really obvious but the key bindings aren't working probably for me? The num pad keys don't do anything but other keys do. My log: Initializing... Camera system:: All interception offsets found. Hud system:: All interception offsets found. Image Quality system:: All interception offsets found. Pause system:: All interception offsets found. Please enable numlock and use the Insert key next to the backspace key. The 'Ins' key on the numeric keypad isn't for enabling the camera but for pausing the game, if you have numlock on (as you should) then numpad 0 will become 'numpad 0' and pauses the game (and numpad 4 will move the camera sideways for instance).

Hi, sorry to bother again -- thank you for being so helpful with my previous questions! Recently I've been trying to hotsample, and running into the issue that screenshots some out at default resolution despite the window clearly being much larger. I am using Reshade to take them. I do have a second display hooked up, which I'm guessing is the issue? When I hotsample the window moves from my tv back onto my laptop display, (correctly upscaled), but then the resulting image is always 1920x1080 no matter what I chose.

Please check if you run the game as windowed (not borderless windowed but in a window with a title bar). Then in the IGCSClient, click 'fake fullscreen' on the hotsample tab to get a fullscreen window. Hotsampling should then work fine. If you hotsample to a bigger resolution, the window won't fully fit on your monitor but pressing the screenshot key in reshade should take a shot with that resolution.

Hi, I'm on Hotfix 21 and I downloaded v1.0.19. My camera shows successfully initiated in the game. But when using the camera in the game, only the Numpad 0 takes effect. Other keys don't work. Did I miss anything?

Do you see any errors in the log tab of the igcsclient? The official game with hotfix 21 from steam works fine with tools v1.0.19 so it's a bit weird it won't work in your case...

What do you mean exactly with textures not loading? If you move the camera you mean? Please press HOME (the game's camera reset function. You need to press Numpad . for that to enable input to the game, if you have camera device set to 'both' (default) or 'keyboard/mouse'. If you use a gamepad for moving / controlling the camera, please set camera device to 'gamepad' in the igcsclient, so pressing HOME won't affect the camera and gets passed on to the game. ) or disable/enable the camera.

On the latest patch the most up to date cam tools seem to totally break my game once using them. After disabling the camera you get stuck in place and are unable to move the regular game camera around and when reloading to try and fix it get CTD. Replicated the issue three times so unfortunately doesn't seem to be just a one off issue.

Hello! First, thank you for the wonderful mod! I just updated it and now I can't seem to get the camera to enable when I press "insert." Per your FAQ, I am not running any EA launcher and was using the same "insert" key I was using before; the only one I have is on my numeric pad. If I change the key binding to something else it still won't enable. Do you have any advice for fixing this? I also seem to be having crashes possibly related to the camera mod, but I am not sure yet. Whenever I try to close out the mod, the game crashes after.

hi there! love your photomods endlessly, I've spent endless hours in cyberpunk photomode thanks to you and am now diving into bg3 "photomode" - I'm wondering if the dof connector doesn't work in dialogue/cutscenes or if I'm just missing something? It worked like a charm in the overworld but once I pop into a dialogue and enable it it just shifts the camera left/right when I go to adjust bokeh size. thank you so so much for all of your hard work! <3

It works the same? Set bokeh size to a reasonable low value, and then move the focus delta till you have the area you want to focus on sharp. As a cutscene uses a lower fov you likely have to use a lower focus delta value
