Ice Cream Tier Change (Patreon)

So as you may have read in my previous post I need to change my $20 tier so that it doesn't include a raffle.

Here is my proposed change that I'll likely go with, feel free to voice your opinion/give suggestions before I make an official change.

Polls will be coming back in a sense for the $20 patrons

  • There will be a post each month that all $20 patrons will be allowed to give their suggestions of either a character, characters, a scenario, or whatever I'm looking for (and planning on branching out more on the characters that I do here if people suggest)
  • Then there will be a poll with the best/most popular of those suggestions that the $20 patrons will vote on.
  • The winner will get a guaranteed picture that everyone had a say on to replace the single commission picture.

In addition, I know my commissions are kind of in limbo right now, I haven't really accepted any new ones in a while, but if/when commissions are being taken again, the $20 patrons will get first dibs before moving on to everyone else.

This will likely happen in January, since everyone has already paid for December's term and I'm gonna finish that as planned.

What I liked about your raffle is that the commission gave backers a chance for them to see a favourite character of theirs who may be less popular or not as well known commissioned. Sadly, making it a vote eliminates that possibility.

I think this system will work, particularly because of your commission inclusion....maybe. So while there is no direct "I want this," having Ice Cream's get first dibs helps. Course I'm an Ice Cream that picked the Sausage tier reward because I didn't care for the raffle, so there's that disclosure.

What would also be a good incentive to continue supporting is not only have first-come commissions but maybe even like one extra character for free, just for the support. Or a few versions pieces, just something extra for outstanding support.

You've got my support no matter what you decide to do, I know you said this was your primary source of income and I would never want you to have to give up on making your art. I agree with Justen though, I loved the fact that you had the raffle draw (disclosure: I was fortunate enough to be selected once). It really was nice to be able to get a lesser known character, or a popular favourite character brought to life however we had imagined it. I know we can always commission you, but honestly I'm not too well off as it is so I can't afford much more then my monthly pledge so that's a bit harder for me to support. Maybe you allow your $20 patreons to submit a ballot each month? Like each $20 pledge get's a single submission in which they essentially outline their commission and then you pick the one that you'd like to do most. That way it's not a raffle because you selected what to draw, but you also would likely not pick the same persons submission each month. The idea that we can have an extra (Birdflash OTP maybe ;P) picture or two a month that is exclusive to our tier is also a viable solution I think. It's a tough spot that you got put in, but I know you'll pick the best option!

I definitely think having a pic exclusive to our tier would be great - otherwise it's a bit pricey for a vote. Maybe have a few different things for the tier (not each one every month) like a tutorial, or a recorded stream for download etc. Or, maybe even an ongoing comic just for the tier, with a new single panel each month. Amazing art and that's why I support your work. Keep it up!

The picture it's self wont be exclusive for just your tier, it will be released for everyone. You will just have a say on what it is. Blud has said before that he wont do any content exclusive to just one tier.
