Reworked the animation of skill #7, fixed some minor bugs

10th January 2024

1.4

Added missing skill displacement effect

——————————————————————

This is the beta version of harpy, no sound effects for now.

These will be completed and added as soon as possible, and some of the skill artwork needs to be optimised and the skill data needs to be adjusted. These will be refined in subsequent updates.

Art: STM, 铃夕

Programme: Kaze*

Animation: Deovolente(GhastRiv)

I've been in communication with Red Hook lately regarding mods, and it's more likely that both will follow by subcontracting the mods with the art content. From this time on, it will be made available for download in this format.

I've recently been in communication with Red Hook regarding mods. The likelihood is that in the future the mod will be offered in two parts, one with the full base content and the other with the art without Red Hook's copyrighted content.

Hopefully this will resolve some of the disputes once and for all. I'll come back to this after I've heard back from Red Hook (or after the communication is over and an agreement has been reached).

I love her, she is so cute. harpy girls are great monster girls and one made with your art just looks perfect. Also i'm curiuse, what is the problem with red hook? do they have a problem with you making mods in general or monetizing it or bc some stuff is... nsfw?

2024-01-12 19:55:01 From my understanding, a few people don't like that some mods are locked behind paywalls (I'll exagerate a bit by saying it's kinda a West vs East thing). The problem is that they're so butthurt that sometime they upload those mods on steam or elsewhere for free without the author's consent and often using fallacious argument (most of the time invoking Red Hook stance on mods from years ago). It happened with Kaze's mods recently and I think GhastRiv got a problem with the Shambler class too. From my point of view, you're paying to support the author and they're associate and/or to get early access on a few mods. Most, if not all, of the mods I've seen on different Patreons are released later on Steam when they're "complete". Sometime they're not finished and not released there (Abigail for exemple) yet.

Ohh i see. Quite bothersome. Yeap i agree, paying for those mods is more a support for the artists. The only reuploads i think are ok are those that give something that the owner delated for some reason and they give the permission to reupload. Yes those are mods of a redhook game, but it's still done completely separate and takes a lot of time and effort that the artists could dedicated to working for example, so they deserve the support as much as the og game

These things are really complicated. Leaving aside the people uploading the files, after all, they're just people who have nothing to do with the nature of the thing. Red Hook doesn't go into enough detail about copyright and mods, and this is an opportunity to refine the various rules and instructions. As an example, Livia class is released for free, but its nsfw skins are really just spine files that can be used generically and are compatible in many other programmes and games. And I am fully authorised by the copyright holder of the Livia character. In a sense, Red Hook at least doesn't own the copyright and related technology to the original character's skin files. I have no objection to sharing my files privately. Because the community is essentially built from the spirit of open source. In fact, the broad industry of mods will always walk in the grey area. It's like the triangle in economics, there will always be some irreconcilable conflict between game developers, mod authors and players. As a game developer, no one wants to be legally liable for mods, but at the same time, they want a piece of the mod community (whether it's player traffic or simply turning mods into DLC). As mod creators, perhaps those with their own jobs can create purely for the sake of interest, and with the time investment and team members, it's most convenient to operate based on a financial relationship (I'm saying it's most convenient, doesn't mean it has to be operated based on a financial relationship. Virtually all of my mods, including chrono ark and starsector, provide compensation for members of the mod-making team). There's nothing that can't be acknowledged, paywalls clearly conflict with the open source spirit of the community. As a player, it's also a very reasonable plea to not pay when you can. After all, that's why the community was founded: open source and freedom to create. Without these elements, the community would be difficult to build. The ultimate form of most communities is simply finding a comfort zone with each other where they can tolerate each other. Okay, I'm typing too much, I'll put this all together again when Red Hook writes back definitively.
