Two drama reactions on the same day YAY!! LOL Jeff did you forget how Gu Won's vest, wounds, blood traces all recover when he got attacked last time LOL he can also heal other ppl as long as they're not dead dead.

Okay doesn’t the Love shot outfit remind you of Gyuvin’s Love Killa performance 😭😭😭 literally twins I’m sorry And it is just me or this episode reminded me SO MUCH of destined with you like I felt like I was watching Destined w you again 😭😭 Omg I just realized Dokyung hated world and people and remember what the God lady said that if a person who hates humanity meets the god it’s perfect to create a devil…SO what if the God turn him into a devil😧 Also the ending… I think DoHee’s father made a deal w Koowon and he got heart attack while driving and that was the reason of the car accident that sadly also killed her mother as well and Madam Joo was there by “accident” since we can see her car isn’t crashed or anything and just saw it but she also accidentally saw Koowon and I don’t think he made deal w her because I don’t think she has any reason but since she saw him there could be something about it since he shouldn’t be seen by people who aren’t supposed to see him at the moment so idk 😭🤣

ok I might be off here but I think you can just put milk in a mug and microwave it for a few secs to warm it up. I saw my friends did it before, you only need to use a pot if you don't have a microwave or wants to make like hot cocoa or smt. Quick little fact about courtesans. Courtesans back then works in brothels, and yes a lot of them do offer prostitution work but some are just performers or both. Depends on the establishments, a lot of the "classier ones'' have a lot of girls who are talented performers and smart. Brothels in those times can be a place ppl go to get drunk and socialize or also exchange knowledge, read poetry and stuff. So girls who are verse in poetry, literature or have other talents like sword dancing, music, etc. are able to offer their performance skill instead and they’re usually more expensive and popular. There’s ranks even between courtesans, and some can refuse to serve guests too if they're popular enough w a higher rank. Of course it's not a respected positions in society and most of them are slaves owned by the owner of the brothel, like servants. However, if you're like really popular, at least you can make good money of your own and some brothels let the girls buy back their contracts (rare), so back then a lot of these courtesans are the only women in that era who has their own property and personal freedom bc they're able to work and earn good amount of money themselves without becoming servants or being married. The history of courtesans/prostitution/brothels are quite interesting no matter the country you look at. In a lot of ways, during a time where women are treated like properties, brothels are usually THE place where a lot of progressive ideas happen and where a lot of women were able to gain control of their destiny. So some chose to be a courtesans bc as a woman, if you can't get married for wev reason, too poor but also aren't allowed to work unless you are married and every dime you make technically becomes the property of your husband/father and your fate is sealed bc you're not a highborn. If you want to avoid hard labor and being sold as slave servant, and have a talent, you can have a life with a little more power, education and luxury (since you make a lot more money and is usually taken care of with your own servants if you're the money maker for your brothel) as a courtesan. Of course with anything like that, there’s also jsut as much if not more instances of women being mistreated and taken advantage of, but sadly for a lot of ppl, it’s the better trade off. There's a few shows in the past surrounding courtesan in Joseon era that are quite interesting. Altho most of them end in tragedy bc of old school prejudice and general mistreatment women face. I'm assuming when they said she's haughty,. They're implying shes the type of courtesan who only performs and serve wine to entertain guests but doesn't sleep w her guests.

Me during this week’s episodes: 😲😊😍🥰😨😠🤬😍🥹🥰🤡😱🤯 Kim Yoo Jung is known is the Sageuk Fairy for a reason. She’s unrivaled in historicals. I thoroughly enjoyed this week’s eps esp. their past life. I agree that these two have been defying destiny and God(?) so they better continue to do so so we can get that happy ending. I have so many questions and theories. This should’ve been a 20 episode drama😩 About the social class thingy. It’s fascinating to see how far we’ve come (despite our society being f*cked up still). Entertainers used to be at the bottom of the ladder but look where idols/actors are now. I think you also mentioned something similar before. I forgot which reaction lol. Also, someone did mention on twitter that the time period did match with Korean history when Christians were being persecuted for their faith. Love how the writers incorporated that. It was a twist I never expected. As a long time kdrama watcher I know their past is tragic and was just curious about the reason. This was something I haven’t seen in a kdrama before.

I think at the end it wasn’t guwon going to make a deal with dohee’s parents, I think it’s Dohee’s parents who made a deal with him 10 years ago and Guwon was there to complete the deal 10 years later. He tossed away the contract because the parents are dead already. That is my opinion! I’m not sure if he made a deal with madam Ju, I do think madam ju was murdered because in previous episodes we know that they switched her medication to the medication that causes her serious allergy reaction which is the cause of Madam Ju’s death. So I don’t think it’s Guwon that took Madam Ju’s life.

can u recommend webtoons and where do you read them? <3

The song and singer you liked is Say You Love Me by Sam Kim. :)

Ok last scene, he was burning away a contract not making one. I’m assuming that means the parents probably the ones who made the deal with him. My guess is madam Ju is likely the one somehow responsible for the accidents. However, the parents probably did make a deal with Gu Won at some point either for the success of the company or to save their kid or something. The parents probably have told the story to Madam Ju but she dismissed it thinking demons aren’t real. If the Do Hee is around 10 yo when her parents die, My guess is may be the mom almost have a miscarriage or smt and they made a deal to save her. From a plot standpoint, it made their characters more sympathetic if they made a deal of desperation and not greed. However on the day the deal is due, something Madam Ju did cause an accident to the parents. Gu won showed up thinking Aw man my deal is trashed now that they died before their time. But Madam Ju who didn’t believe in demons before, upon seeing Gu won probably freaking out realizing the story the parents said was true and Omg that means heaven and hell are real and I could go to hell for sinning (aka what she did to Do hee’s parents). Gu Wom probably spotted Madam Ju and ask if she wants a deal but she said no or Idk something like that. Bc we saw the way he collects deals before and it’s not like that. He also was very straight forward as a person. He would have shown guilt if he was responsible. I think we saw the priest before in a flashback of madam Ju in a confession booth at a church or something. But I can’t say for sure. I swear they better not mess this up. That priest feels like he might be trouble…. The show has been consistent in the characters not being too far out from the way they’re characterized thus far. Sooo it would be insane if they make Madam Ju or Gu Won a bad guy. May be Madam Ju did some corporate negligence act or something and didn’t think it would be a big deal but it ended up killing the parents by accident. The deal with the parents made the most sense bc GW usually remember who he made deals with and good with remembering faces. He made the murderers sketch with just a glimpse. So far he’s seen Madam Ju pictures many times since she died but it didn’t ring a bell. So it doesn’t make sense that he would have made a deal w her. The only reason he forget is bc it’s a little 3 secs interaction for him and he’s gone. However he has not seen any pictures of Do Hee’s parents so he probably didn’t realized he had made a deal w them.

eve_ss

LOL That red suit reminds me also of Love Shot Kai!! And that beige/brown white outfit that they chose, looked really similiar to Chen's Cream Soda outfit HAHAHA my exo-l heart is screaminggg 😂❤️

Christine Nguyen

What I am confused by is why was the drunk sister/cousin suddenly upset about her mother’s death and that she was murdered? She was there when the police notified the family that there was foul play. She wasn’t concerned about her mom being murdered then why now? I was also wondering if Guwon caused the car accident because he made a deal with DoHee’s dad and her mom was just collateral? Like her dad was trying to escape Guwon when he came to collect but Guwon caused him to have a heart attack while driving. But not sure cuz the writers seem to be pushing the narrative that Madam Ju somehow contributed to their deaths.

Christine Nguyen

Yes issues with social status exists everywhere but Catholicism did not dictate social structure like Confucianism did for Korean society. The current Korean beauty standards stems from Confucianism.

jeffavenue

probably a late realization about how much she cared for the mom lol also maybe more shocking that it was a family member that killed her. she gonna have a heart attack when she finds out it’s his own brother

Christine Nguyen

I learned a lot about Korean history/culture cuz in college I minored in Foreign Languages with a concentration in Korean. It honestly helped me understand a lot of the social/historical context in Kdramas/K-media. Considering how ingrained Confucianism is in SK society/mindsets even now, it reminds me how young SK is as a developed nation

Christine Nguyen

I think she already feels like something is off when he told her that her twins are the family heirs now

Yep me too. As soon as I saw it was him I was like- yep should have known that voice. ☺️

You can read this thread on twitter for the religion reference in the drama and how the painting with women sword dancing is related to it. https://twitter.com/krystal_anne88/status/1743462254803337471?t=3tohmN4_XE1FVTdfouR3ug&s=19 Also I love the fact that they're consistent with symbolizing the Moon. In ep1 when they first met Guwon is wearing a Moon Brooch. When they met in their past life the moon is like crescent like his brooch, also Wolshim's sword has the Hanja word for Moon. I guess Guwon did not really forget her. He named the foundation SunWol = Yi Sun & Wol Shim.

Avianna Yang

I super loved episodes 11 and 12. Historical drama is Kim Yoojung's territory. She's unrivaled there, Wol Shim being her 14th character in hanbok. The project that shoot her to stardom was also a historical drama that's known as nation's drama (Moon Embracing the Sun), her first major lead role was a historical drama (Love in the Moonlight) both are considered legendary kdramas based on double digit ratings and cultural impact. So happy she's getting international success and recognition with My Demon 😭🥺

Nabs Yien

I watched it again and realized that this is Song Kang's first Sageuk drama. We need to see him wearing those hanbok more. And of course Yoo Jung is a Sageuk Fairy, she always nailed her lines with tone and diction plus she's so pretty 😭😭

jess

i think the mom of the psychotic son didn't start self-harm, when the son got sentenced to prison, he told her "you're next" so i think that hints that the husband resorting to burning/abusing her now since his son is gone :( which is really awful the dad is soooo messed up in all aspects

CK

I really loveee watching your kdrama reactions. I hope you’ll also watch Lovers of the Red Sky too. It was one of Kim Yoo Jung’s best kdrama with Ahn Hyo Seop.

DAngeL

I love Song Kang one of my favorite KDrama Actors and one of the best kissers. I really enjoy your reactions to My Demon.

omg lemme comment before i check the comments. I was more so thinking that the night the parents died, their deal was up cause usually the scrolls turn to ashes when a deal is fulfilled. Also I did think he might have made a deal with the grandma, but at that time, dohee was 11 and the deals are usually 10 years, and now shes about 30, so I thought that wouldnt work since it would be about 20 years after the deal when the grandma dies. Damnn.

What I saw was he went there to make a deal but he was to Kate and they were dead then saw madam just as an opportunity

Not me simping over song kang and Jeff’s “jinja” (45:35-45:38)
