There's a drama with Lee Dong Wook called Tale of the Nine Tailed it is actually really good. I know there's another one but idk the name!

Love this show! A good mix of humor, darkness & light, with some sweet romance.

Eunwoos next drama is Wonderful World - its due for release early March this year on Fri/Sat nights. Its a mystery drama about a Mother who seeks vengeance when she discovers the truth about her sons death. Eunwoos character is Kwon Seon-yul: a mysterious person who grew up in a wealthy family, but lives a rough life after losing his parents due to a series of incidents. He rides motorcycles, boxes, is a welder and seems like kind of a bad boy - Yay! side note - the older sister from True beauty is also in it. Anyway it looks soooooo good. MBC released a teaser at their drama awards last week and its hard to find now but I did see it on you tube if you want to check it out - excuse the poor quality - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cbhWDNYUc6Y. Very excited to see it as it looks like a really different character for him.

my roommate is Gumiho is another one. i've re-watched tale of the nine tailed season 1 and 2 quite a few times

ASMR Roseia

this kdrama has given me my 1st villain and minion in the mountain spirit and the fox. ep 12 was hard for me to watch so i did a lot of skipping

Responding to ep 11: You are so right about the repetitive flashbacks, and I'm not sure why they did it because we know from the BTS videos that they actually cut moments in the present between Seowon and Haena for these episodes. I am really enjoying the drama, but I feel like the last crop of episodes suffered from some strange editing crisis, rofl. Anyway, Maksoon and Soohyun were so adorable, and I cannot believe their babychild was cursed for generations just because Tiger Spirit Bogum thought a servant wasn't loyal enough to her master lmao.

Ep 12: Eunwoo really bodied the hurt at being forgotten, I must say, but I love that Seowon didn't resent Haena and fully placed the blame where it belonged (Bogum's dumb butt!). In other news, it's been a while since I've found a secondary pairing as satisfying as Yuna and Wootaek. I adore them!

omg sounds like exactly the type of prestige drama I wanna see him in! I hope it's good!

jeffavenue

right?? i feel like its just their style cause even the opening recaps are SO LONG like hello? WE CAN REMEMBER THINGS FINE

Taticakes

And finally ep 13: I wish they had condensed Jiah's story a little more, but I'm totally with you that the climax of Choyoung's past with Bogum was really heartbreaking, and this episode did a good job of highlighting how he lost himself in the suffering. And I love that you pointed out the montage, because the once-a-week schedule (plus like 3 weeks of delays) really hampered the flow of an otherwise very lovely story, and it was a joy to see the thread between Eunwoo and Gyuyoung's characters woven together like that. Lastly but not leastly, Cho Young lost the baby before everything else happened. It was when they were running away the first time and she fell down the hill, that's why Bogum was taking care of her and brought her the dog (Deok Gu) that he said contained the spirit of her baby. So, when she killed herself to at least save Mak Soon's baby, she was doing it for her child as well who never got the chance to live.

So i think you might have forgotten (normal bc literally this show took forever to air each ep), but from the start Cho Young was married and pregnant when the court started to go after her. That's why they said she was there for post partum as she's about to give birth. Then, the chase happened and she had a miscarriage in the process and was badly hurt. That's when the mountain spirit saved her and helped her recover. But also why she kept going to the cliff to try to kill herself from the grief of losing her baby and Mountain spirit kept going there whenever she's up there to console her. She said her child is gone but she's still alive she wants to be w her dead baby. Mountain Spirit told her that her child's soul still lingered after it died and settled into the dog. That's why he gave her that dog and they started "playing house" as the father and mother of the dog. It's kind of how they started really "be together" romantically. Mak Soon knew as well bc she was there in hiding with her master and help her recover. That's why Cho Young said even tho my child is gone at least your child will live. also in these eps, one of them also said the court knows Cho Young was pregnant but they didn't know she miscarried. However, they won't care bc they would think she just lied and hid the baby bc her baby has royal blood and thus, they won't let her go and will chase her to make sure she's dead. The way they transition in between the flashbacks makes it confusing bc there were flashbacks of the character in the flashbacks LOL. At the start, The mountain spirit basically got familiar to Cho Young when she was a young girl bc she kept going to his temple in the mountain and one day they actually talked when she visited the temple one last time before she get married. That's when she told him she'll bring back a rock or wev (I can't remember exactly). But she never came back. She got married and pregnant. The mountain spirit sorta kept waiting around there for her to return without admitting it, bc she was like his human friend. Then, the whole treason thing happened and Cho Young's husband was killed. BC her husband is a like a relative of the royal family line who was accused of trying to commit treason. The court then chase her down to kill her and her unborn baby to make sure the baby with royal blood will be taken out completely. That's when she ran and ended up in the mountain & the spirit intervene to save her. Then, the all the things above happened and Cho Young 's tragic love story with the mountain spirit unfolded. What I really do like about this is how clear the character's motivation are and it's mostly very logical. A mountain spirit that just look at the human world from his mountain and occasionally help human out for thousands of years would think and operate from a pretty empty canvas. To him, Cho Young was his first and only love. He also deeply understand the reincarnation cycle and know that yea you can be reincarnated but you're not the same person in your next life with or without the memory. That's what makes Cho Young's death so hard for him to process bc he understood how finite her life was and she's gone forever. He got so much grief and anger but no where to take it out aside from our leads' character. His way of handling things are very extreme but also makes sense as a powerful magical beings. It's very divine punishment/god's wrath type of vibe. I think that make sense for a powerful being who never experience true lost and helplessness until it all hit at once and he got the power to take it out on the ppl who he thought was responsible in the most diabolical wway. At the core, It seems his power also have limits bc his power was never meant to kill or cause harm. He mess with their heads and manipulate the situations but not directly kill and cause physical harm. Kinda like how the god in my demon describe her power. He can do magic and create a veil over their memories, make curses and a system but ultimately, fate and human will can play out on its own. That's why I think there's little leaks here and there bc if your will is strong enough, you'll overcome it.

strange& sleepless

Well Choyoung wasn't pregnant anymore when Maksoon ratted her out to the guards. She had already lost her baby earlier, before she even got to really know the mountain spirit, remember? and was still grieving. That lost baby was also what she was referring to when she said her baby wasn't even able to feel a gust of wind or see a ray of sunshine. She wasn't able to save her own baby but by sacrificing herself she was able to save Maksoon's.

strange& sleepless

Btw the mountain spirit depicted in this drama is a deity. A nine tailed fox (gumiho) is a shapeshifting succubus that eats peoples livers, they're different things. If you want a good show about a nine tailed fox though i'd recommend ''my roommate is a gumiho'' It's got a similar feel to this show. Cute, wholesome and funny but also dark and emotional at times, I liked it a lot.

Eunwoo's next drama is called Wonderful World .It's like a revenge story or something. He plays a med school dropout. IDK if there is going to be romance. The female lead is portrayed by Kim Nam Joo who's like 52 years old. I saw the trailer, Eun woo felt soo different, its a more serious drama. This is the synopsis:- "Eun Soo Hyun is a psychology professor and a famous writer, but her life has completely changed. Her young son dies unjustly. Making things worse, the person responsible for her son’s death isn’t punished by the law. Eun Soo Hyun loses hope in this world. She decides to punish the person responsible for her son’s death by herself. Her life is still in pain and despair. Somehow, Eun Soo Hyun gets involved with other people who suffer from pain similar to hers and solves their mysterious cases. They slowly get healed in the process." It's releasing this March 2024.

I kinda wanna react to that too but just wondering how prominent Eunwoo's role is. Rowoon's 'Tomorrow' started out with a lot of scenes with Rowoon in them but faded as the show went on and although the drama was good, I watched it for Rowoon. So just wouldn't want that to happen to Eunwoo's new drama.

jeffavenue

ohhhh it's different? the pic on the shrine looked like a nine tailed fox but maybe im remembering it wrong

Roberta Carta

There's actually some dramas with the nine tailed fox but they're not recent: - My girlfriend is a gumiho. (2010) - My roommate is a gumiho (2021) there's probably others

Also: Eunwoo's next drama is coming out in a couple of months I think, it's called a Wonderful World. https://asianwiki.com/Wonderful_World_(Korean_Drama)
