Im pretty sure they didnt hate each other, it was more up and down, if you look at their last 2kr. Its funny watching the show with that knowledge, there are a few moments it shines through but especially in the finale there seems to be one moment where Han is genuenly happy for Hyunjin which took me by surprise since I knew the whole "Dance better", "focus on your rap" thing.

There's a V Live where Bangchan explains how he picked everyone. They were all basically training with him in the same company and he had the opportunity to watch their talent and choose who he wanted to work with. Starting with 3Racha when he began composing with Han and Changbin.

Pretty much what happened is Chan created a group on his own without JYP knowing and started producing songs with Han and Changbin, releasing them on Soundcloud. At this point JYP knew that he did this so when it came time to debut a new group he decided to test if Chan's group that he picked (one time he said he picked I.N. because he was like a diamond in the rough, Felix because they were close aussie friends, etc. There was no criteria Chan did it solely off of vibes XD) was good enough to debut. The girl team that competed in the first ep didn't seem like a "team" like you said because JYP made that group with their female trainees. 4/5 of Itzy were in that group except for Lia.

just to touch on some things: 1. you asked how the selection process went and from what chan explained he just chose the kids he was close to (obviously 3racha members han and changbin were the first chosen) then i think he chose jeongin bc he did a stage with him and saw his potential. same thing with hyunjin (he liked hj passion for dancing when he looked at him perform). chose seungmin bc of his personality (apparently seungmin was extremely diligent and polite and chan said he liked that vibe for his dream team). chose felix bc of his voice and the fact that hes an aussi too. chose minho bc of his dance experience (he wanted someone to help him lead the team in dance practices). so yeah basically just picked trainees he already knew and liked. 2. minho barely had been a trainee for one month before the survival show started. they added him one week before the survival show started and he had no experience other than dancing and no training whatsoever in singing/rapping. 3. you asked if they lowered hellevator. they did not. in fact not only did they ignore jyp they also made district 9 even higher lmao

I believe Cravity's Allen was supposed to be in the show but for some reason he either left or was removed and Lee Know joined. Allen and Skz are friends though and they've interacted and mentioned each other a few times. Also seeing them moving in to the dorm reminds me of how Han and Hyunjin HATED each other during the show lmao. They didn't just dislike each other but full on hated each other. I remember them talking about their legendary fight where Han told Hyunjin to "rap better" and Hyunjin told Han to "dance better" 😭😭 They're inseparable besties now though haha

Why is Changbin always washing the dishes? Because rich boy Changbin doesn't know how to crack an egg even so washing dishes is the only thing they can make him do 😭

im actually SO happy you’re watching the survival show. it’s so nice to see you forming a genuine connection with them after learning their story. i think a lot of people tend to forget that stray kids are completely self-made, all the way down to their name. it’s something that’s really unique to them, and still holds true with everything they’re putting out today. the fact that they produced, wrote, and choreographed hellevator as a team made up of a bunch of different talents, all with different levels of skill, is complete insanity. i can’t wait to watch the rest of the show with you!! and hopefully after this we can see more of their variety series to make up for all the stress we’ll be going through for the next 8 episodes 😅

Probably too late to comment now, but thank you for appreciating Hellevator more. Whenever that song just comes up in my playlist, I remember this mission and this survival show. I think you know already but their first ever album (pre-debut) is Mixtape and it's all the songs from this show. And well, Hellevator's choreography actually changed a bit in the chorus--probably Spoiler because if I remember JYP asked them to change it?--if you compare it to now. There's even a special vid posted in SKZ' channel a few years after this show as a gift

There is a great interview from last year where Chan describes how he chose everyone. It sounded like he met them as they joined the company, and saw something in them that he clicked with.
