Holy crap...you know these days my mind keeps drifting even when I'm in the middle of something I enjoy, like watching these reactions, to what's happening in Palestine. It drifted off to it again RIGHT as Jim mentioned the Gaza Strip...I actually had to rewind to make sure I wasn't confusing myself LOL. I think another show from years ago also did the same thing, and I might have been watching a reaction of it on here recently but I can't remember now. It's crazy that what's happening in Palestine, just like racism everywhere else, hasn't changed much. This episode aired 18 years ago and we're still in that same destructive loop. Racism was prevalent in the 70s, just as it was in the hundreds of years before that, just as it was in 2006 and just as it is in 2024. You'd think we'd have made more progress by now. It's just SAD that we haven't. I've always enjoyed this episode. Top tier season 1 episode. I'm so glad you did as well.

Also, that shopkeeper definitely changed the story to make Eli the stereotypical "angry black man" and that racist murderer "soft spoken". He was just as complicit. It's tough to know that someone you've known and worked for and been loyal to for 18 years wouldn't have your back in the end. I don't blame Eli for his anger. I'd have felt the same way.
