So idk if anyone said it in the live but the reason why Gideon left is because the actor became uncomfortable by how dark the show was. He said it took a mental toll on him, and he left do other things. If you were to ever go back and rewatch season 2 you'll actually see Gideon becoming more and more weary as the season progressed. It's also why they are being harsh with kinda "cutting Gideon out." The actor did not want to come back and the show didn't want the audience to think that he would come back.
