This would probably be "drag and drop" if it was plugged into any Windows PC. It's probably using MTP instead of USB Mass Storage, which isn't fully implemented on macOS - it's why a lot of these nuggets don't show up, like the Sansas that have been in Lucky Dips.

I think Phillips Songbird is just a branded version of the open source Songbird media player https://getsongbird.net/, but whereas the Phillips version only works on Windows, the standard version works on MacOS too.

...at least it was, looks like it was discontinued in 🥁 2013, and the last version was not compatible with macOS Catalina and later.

I had a video Walkman back in 2010 that was still mini-USB, and I was able to sync it with Windows Media Player with no issues. I can't believe that Philips would try that proprietary software nonsense.
