With 98 you want a PS/2 mouse especially since he'll need the serial port free for Palm Pilots and other serial things. Ah yes. Windows 98. One of the operating systems that would throw a fit if you had too much RAM in your computer.

I think that mouse would have actually worked with 98 if you popped in the 98 CD it asked for, the USB HID driver wasn't always included back in those days
