i’m gonna say it. first

Anonymous

Hi my first Parton video upload

Anonymous

Awesome!! An aspirational collection you got there!

Anonymous

I'm gonna say it too. first Italian.

Anonymous

Nooooooo

Anonymous

hello dankpods man

Anonymous

i’m over here with a pair of airpod pros and some studio monitor speakers, and a few other speakers and i thought i’d overdone it a bit, now i have a new level of insane to aspire to

Anonymous

ily dank. You convinced me to buy those samson sr850s, and made me realize what I had been missing listening to music with my old crappy headphones.

Anonymous

I wonder if Mr Pods knows Zylbrad🤔

Anonymous

haha this video was great!:)

Anonymous

Loved both the patreon and main video! I've had the krakens for a while and seeing somebody but the sound into words was pretty surreal, especially as before I got a decent pair of headphones that was all I had. Very interesting!

Anonymous

Very nice

Anonymous

I’ve been waiting all day and you delivered amazingly

Anonymous

Tbh calling something the "Maserati of headphones" is a pretty big insult in 2020 given the cars poor quality nowadays

Anonymous

Do you have a fan mail box thing?

Anonymous

love the headphone videos! found you from the ipod vids and found out you're a fellow audiophile. cant wait for the next one!

Anonymous

Those headphones look so cool! I’m tempted to pick up a pair of Grado SR60s for how good the price is for them! Keep up the good work, DankPods!

Anonymous

frank!!!!!!!!!! every video that has frank in it is blessed by her stink

Anonymous

Sammy 850s top rung scrub tree! I feel like a top rung scrub :')

Anonymous

what microphone do you use? it sounds amazing and mine sucks

Anonymous

im using some very custom porta pros rn and they are lovely, trying to get my hands on a pair of suns for cheap but the used market is awful rn i run my porta pros with the ksc75 ear clips and yaxi pads which help a lot with comfort and soon im going to mod on an mmcx cable and make some balanced cables for the memes https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/j4k6m2/i_got_some_porta_pros_the_other_day_i_liked_them/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

Anonymous

Both great videos, I own the Razers and I love em, I'll have to disagree with 7.1 though. Its physically impossible to push 7.1 through a 2.0 headphone jack, the "7.1" you're hearing is just clever programing and a marketing gimmic. Look up the barbershop on youtube and ull get an idea of what they are doing. If anyone thinks i'm wrong please let me know, I don't wanna be spitting bad facts.

Anonymous

I'm thinking about getting some shure srh1540 cans. I've got some dt770 80 ohms which I like but need a tad more mid presence, Meze 99 Noir which are fun but too much bass, and akg k371 which are detailed but a bit harsh and not comfortable for me. Hoping the shures are the ticket.

Eggicus Roundplumpius

Omg I just realised that I have the same Ikea chair 😂. Also, I saw this on eBay and wondered if you might be into this for a video: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Boxed-Rare-iTunes-Motorola-RAZR-V3i-M-Maroon-Unlocked-Mobile-Phone/124253676046

Eggicus Roundplumpius

Note: they do say they only ship to the UK but I'm sure someone would be willing to be the middleman 👍

Anonymous

My dude lemme change your world: use one of your high-end pairs of headphones plus a ModMic. :)

Anonymous

i wonder if the sr60s are any good for mixing? looking for an open back pair under $100 for mixing when i can't use speakers, k240s (the cheaper "studio" ones lol) were also on my radar

Anonymous

Great video this week, but you missed a couple of the big bois. The senheiser pc37x (or whatever the non-drop equivalent is) has always been my go to recommendation. Other than that awesome though. Love the new mic.

Anonymous

If you ever end up looking at budget headphones you should try the Koss KSC75 (though I don't how cheap they are with Australian pricing).

Anonymous

Damn, what is that iPod "DJ TECH" thing?

Anonymous

Love the main video and this after show video! Wouldn’t mind a video on phone accessory microphones... just throwing the idea out there. Great video!

Anonymous

I can't wait until I can save up for some decent headphones

Anonymous

finally went a bought a pair of dt900 pros. they are coming next week and I'm really excited!

Anonymous

Very cool, but can we see... nuggetphones horde?

Anonymous

im buying the sammies and nobody can stop me

Anonymous

Damn I should've gotten to you sooner! If you want incredibly cheap headphones that manage to have at least decent quality, try these: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01A0VQOCQ?pf_rd_r=2NVS0BEPAYKYN8Q2HRWJ&pf_rd_p=edaba0ee-c2fe-4124-9f5d-b31d6b1bfbee Speakers being whatever, the microphone is incredible for the price point, and I thought you might be interested.

Anonymous

I expect some proper DJ beatmatching when you review that big stinky ipod DJ mixer back there :)

Anonymous

As a person born in the UK, when you said BEANS I felt that..

Anonymous

Real talk though, hearing the comparisons in the public video over the horrifying ear device helped me realize what you meant by like, cymbals being flat and such.

Anonymous

I noticed that Thomas poster, good taste dank

Anonymous

Yo Dank, those ears are the ones used for a lot of ASMR content. Hearing a Frank hiss would be awesome

Anonymous

I honestly cannot wait for the video on those Stax headphones. Electrostatic headphones are so interesting.

Anonymous

I would love if you review my new fave budget cans the Philips shp9500s rtings raves about them. https://www.rtings.com/headphones/reviews/philips/shp9500

Anonymous

Really loved this weeks vid with the gaming headphones; my Arctis 3 works really well for me personally. But my friends still complain the mic on it isn’t very good, or as good as my older plantronics headset. I’d love to see some kind of follow up vid in the future where you try to pair good stand alone mics with audiophile headphones that are decent for gaming and listening as well. Cheers.

Anonymous

on your main channel video listening to the arctis 5 test through arctis 5's might be the most pointless thing youve ever made me do. these are my daily drivers on my pc haha. i have some senns and (sorry) beats that i got for a really good price so thats my excuse haha.

Anonymous

I have two pairs of these at work, they’re amazing for basically dirt cheap.

Anonymous

Sony MDRQ22LP Ear Clip

Anonymous

Love how many pairs of headphones you have, because I've always thought my hoard of headphones was bad... I have about 10 pairs. What we do for the love of music, my friend.

Anonymous

Commenting here instead of YT so my comment isn't drowned out. I've had Arctis 5's for about 8 months now. The built in DAC for the USB audio just isn't very good. I have a mediocre Soundblaster sound card, and there's a noticeable difference in quality, PARTICULARLY with the microphone. Going through a decent DAC, the Microphone actually sounds fantastic. All of the tinniness is gone, it actually sounds like a proper microphone. I could provide a sample if you're curious. My old headset though was probably my favorite, an Audio Technica ATH-PDG1. Got em for $90, they're open back and share the same platform as another one of AT's proper headphones, can't recall which one though. Unfortunately the 3.5mm jack died and the store was out of stock, so I warranty exchanged them for the Arctis.

Anonymous

I'm not sure if the Arctis 3 has USB audio, but try using a separate USB dac/sound card. Significantly improved mic quality. I'm just using a $50 Soundblaster X.

Anonymous

I just ordered a pair of Samson SR850's then cried when i saw them on the noob rack :( xD

Paul Douglas

We use those Audio Technicas for QAing video at work and I completely agree. They sound pretty dang good, but the build is so disappointing. Considering what they go for, the squeak factor is mental

Anonymous

TBH I really liked your headphone reviews, the mic tests where the best >__<' but yeah probs going to track down some DT 770 pros now just got to wait for the new mixer to come in so I can find out what the max ohms the por thing can push.

Anonymous

Just realising why I recognised the sound in the latest video

Anonymous

it literally sounds like someone put a sock over the cymbs, which is exactly how he described it. i finally understand

Anonymous

Was hoping the SR850s you convinced me to buy would get a shout out and you did not disappoint 😊

Anonymous

My father passed away earlier today. After the funeral and all of that I pick up my phone and will you look at that, a new dankpods video! Mate, even in one of my darkest days, you still manage to get a laugh or two out of me. If for that alone, your channel is worth every penny I could ever put in support. Thanks, Wade.

Connor Black

Good to see the Samsons at the top of the "not quite god tier" rack. I've had the pleasure of listening to a few of the cans you have on the god rack (my cousin mixes professionally and has a small collection) and I get why the Samsons aren't on there for sure, it's a canal of difference, but for the price the Samsons are godly cans in their own right.

Anonymous

So sorry for your loss, brother. I hope you and your family are doing alright. <3

Anonymous

I was wondering the same thing and I hope he does. Curious if it will make me happy or not with my purchase. Regardless though looking forward to the laughs.

Anonymous

I got a pair of Grado SR325e. Absolutely most uncomfortable headphones I’ve worn in a while. But brilliant sound. I went out and bought super big earcups and now they work brilliant. They deserve to be one level higher, but I understand because they are expensive ($300 usd).

Anonymous

oh god after watching this i've decided that I need more headphones, my Senny 598SRs and 380Pros aren't enough. Time to run out of money lol

Anonymous

Used to have the AT M50x, but pretty much what you said, they sound amazing, but they get squeaky as hell. I now have Bose Headphone 700s since I'm on trains most of the time nowadays, and those just completely kill the background noise of the train (id say those are only worth it if you can get a large discount on them, they are not worth their MSRP)

Anonymous

And thinking that I’m happy for just having 2 pairs of average but good headphones and a dirtbud 😂

Anonymous

I went on the hunt for some better headphones after seeing some of your headphone related vids but there weren't a whole lot of popular options here in NZ, at least not the prices I wanted. Ended up with a pair of Grado SR 80i's and Bang & Olufsen H6 Gen 1's for cheap. Still pretty new to it all but they're working well. Just started on custom cables for them too.

Anonymous

SR850 gang represent, 3 years with my pair and they still going strong

Anonymous

Honestly with you on the PortaPros, I had a pair in college which I got for under £30 and really liked them but not enough to stick with them for more than a few years and these days Koss want over £50 for them which is crazy when you can get so much better for that money now.

Anonymous

Crazy to see you use Meze headsets! That's what I run!

Anonymous

did you ever try the Superlux ones? They should be also very good for their money. A real bang for the Buck

Anonymous

I have the Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless, and one thing I notice with them is, they creak, like a door at your nan's. They sound good when you configure your EQ, and they sound great and a lot more features then the Arctis 5, but hey, became a patreon today, so your welcome :)

Anonymous

My daily driver headphones I've had since mid 2016 are a set of AKG K240s (not made in Austria though, and only the 55ohm version), and I really like how they sound for most things. Only problem I've noticed with them (which I think has developed in the past few years) is that anything super bassy turned up loud starts rattling the drivers a little bit. Anything Portishead is a prime candidate to start rattling the headphones, lol

Anonymous

Nice! This is the only channel I always come to see the after show on patreon! Looking forward to the stax review ;)

Anonymous

Love seeing the collection here, and I'm really thinking about getting the Grado SR60s. Actually, it's because of you that I got my hands on the Samson SR850s, and I am so glad I did. They're the best headphones I've owned so far, and I can't go back to using cheap PC headsets anymore because of them. They're also the only headset I've ever wanted to use with my portable minidisc players (normally I just use JBL Live 100s). I wish I had found your channel sooner; even though I'm not an iPod user, I find your videos really interesting and entertaining. You have some great reviews, and they are always cracking me up.

mia

i use the AT M40x a lot (mostly for playing bass cause its really good sounding) but I have the same complaint as you for the M50 :/ hopefully i can upgrade soon! great work with the vids

Anonymous

Where do u get most of these (im tryna get myself a pair of HD SIXHUNDOS) ive always loved listening to music and i realllyyy wanna get into headphones and stuff!

Anonymous

Regarding the headset video, if you happen to do a sequel or something, i recommend checking out the Logitech g935's, I've had em for a while now and as far as my audio newbie ears can tell, they sound pretty damn good. the mic is passable by all means, and they definitely have that bass hump, but there's detail i can hear with these that i cant with my Sony MDR-XB950B1's, which granted, theyre obviously bass focused, but they were about the same price regardless.

Anonymous

Yo Dank, you should check out the Massdrop x Sennheiser HD6XX. I suspect there may be a reason they are cheaper than the OG's

Anonymous

I’m surprised you haven’t done a vid on the Bose Quite Comfort 35s (2) wireless and wired audio

Anonymous

I own the k712pro's and I have opted out of leaving it hanging with the elastic strap like you do with your favourite ones. It can deteriorate the elastic material and can cause loose fitting headphones. Just something to think about, I guess. Love the vids!

Chewie

Beyerdynamic themselves frequently have "seconds sales" where they sell blems/exdisplay etc units at a pretty nice discount. I got my DT1990 pros from there and they arrived spotless and pristine.

dankpods

nah, they aren’t mixing cans I’d get the 240’s or the DT770’s

dankpods

Yea they are calibration equipment first but a real cheap mic for that kinda stuff

dankpods

Also if folks want me to do headphones reviews I gotta have a jurys worth to consult with!

dankpods

Nah top run is great cans but just don’t have a place on the crowded rack

dankpods

Oh totes if I had ONE pair of Grados the 325’s are fantastic. The 60’s are a steal and I do prefer the Hemps so the poor guy is in no mans land for me

Anonymous

Listening to this through my Astro A40’s!

dankpods

Yea they aint bassy aye, if you want studio cans with awesome bass grab some DT770’s

dankpods

I used to have some until the ANC coudn’t handle light breezes on walks so they sadly went back

Anonymous

You have a good point, I had QC 35s but I was randomly assaulted on the street about a month back and this guy damaged my DJI Drone and my headphones because “he doesn’t like drone pilots” sounds about right for Scotland. 😂

Anonymous

Man ngl, I’d love to hear all those headphones through the ear mic thingy

Anonymous

Have you heard of Skull candy Crusher? They have a slider for bass. I'd be really interested to see your view on them. They sound great to me, and I love the variable bass, but I have no idea what I'm listening too 😂

Anonymous

Listening through my Tin T2’s (excellent $50 dollar dirty-bud replacement). Probably wouldn’t do much next to your LCD-2’s, but they’re a great place to start if you want to look into budget IEM’s!

Anonymous

this mans headphone collection is on a level of my shoe collection

Anonymous

Dude i found the IGrados on ebay. They absolutely rock for like 35 bucks. None of the Koss flyweights get close. And they sound great with any iPod. Not comfy tho.

Anonymous

HD540's were shown no love :(

Anonymous

yaxi pads tame the bass and improve the soundstaging and comfort of the portapros. You should do a whole video devoted to them. Just make sure you're thorough and even if you don't like them you'll earn tons of headphone cred

SilvyTheBat

Oi, if want you a good Senny gamin' cans. look yourself to the PC38x by Senny an Drop

Anonymous

Sleepy Frank is so cute

Anonymous

I'm just jealous now tbh where do you get all the money for these lol

Anonymous

Ok Dank, I’m feeling that audiophile itch and I blame you completely. Now the question is, Sony MDR7506 or Grado SR60e with the Fiio LittleGlassNugget for a first time audiophile experience?

Anonymous

from us lol... if he has 5000 patrons he gets at least $5000 USD per month

Anonymous

I would recommend the Grados. I went from E10K + M50x --> E10K + SR80e and they sound absolutely wonderful! I'm biased towards open-back though but that's my two cents.

Anonymous

I got the fiio and the Grados and I love the combination of them. Just keep in mind if you want to fully experience it you'll have to plug the fiio into your phone thru a usbc cable. The Bluetooth does work great and thats how i use it most the time.

Anonymous

Thank you so much for all your content. I've always been the guy who whenever I saw a new pair of headphones always wanted to try them on. I thought I was just weird. Before watching your videos I didn't know critical listening was a hobby. I didn't know that was a thing people did. Now that I know, I've bought the HyoerX cloud IIs you recommended and I have a nice pair of sennies I got for 20 dollarie doos off eBay. Also, I lucked out and my new phone (LG Stylo) has a 32 bit DAC. So, high-end audio and critical listening is going to be my new hobby.

Anonymous

Is it time from the shrekphone pro yet ?

Anonymous

I got the samson sr850s last night. Excited to hear the quality pretty good price for em got $32 freedom dollars

Anonymous

Oh!!! Have you seen the brand Woojer? https://instagram.com/woojerco?igshid=g4zxqi9qpje You've gotta check it out.

Anonymous

hey would you recommend open back or closed back headphones? im stuck between the dt 770s and 990s from beyerdynamic

Anonymous

Hey Dank! Don’t know if you’ve seen this, but it made me think of you. Pet Acoustics 😹 Pet Tunes Bluetooth Speaker Preloaded with Calming Feline Music, Green https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00NFRSOZI/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_zxgIFbZPPE5H3

Anonymous

5:36 I have the same PS3 steering wheel xD

Anonymous

Your video on the Samsons made me buy them and boy was that a good decision, thanks for influencing it G

Anonymous

Ayyyy, Jason over at CustomCans is an absolute legend.

Anonymous

Really living up to yer name there, eh

Anonymous

No one told me that headphones grow on the headphone tree...

Anonymous

SRM SIGMAs!!!!

Anonymous

You should add the Fostex TH900 MK2 to your collection. I recently got a pair and they sound awesome but they are very amp dependant. They are hand made pieces of Japanese art. Also I fucking love your videos!

Anonymous

What I wanna see now is all of his headphones in a line (worst to best with price, without price, just in an order) and have a short overview of each one. Why it's good, why it's bad, yes or no to buy, and that's it. Just to see his whole collection.

Anonymous

Have you ever tried the Koss KPH30i They're slightly cheaper than the porta pros, but newer with different drivers, a plastic headband that actually locks, and many who have used them prefer them over the porta pros. The sound is more mature and balanced than the porta pros which get most of the credit.

Anonymous

Head-puh-ho-knees

Anonymous

I'm so interested in the Audeze LCD-2, I'm thinking about getting them for myself too

Anonymous

So much headphones. I've got the Beans..🤣

Anonymous

Do a room tour you got some cool biz

Anonymous

So after discovering your channel, I was convinced and caught the bug. Waiting on the Grado SR80’s and the Meze 99 classics to come in so the Fiio Q3 has someone to play with lol. Keep up the great work and would love more headphone vids, maybe some that the 1 Grit could take of.

Anonymous

My dog sleeps like Frank lol, full on muzzle into the floor. I don't know how she can breathe nevermind how it's comfy

Anonymous

Same here bruv. Got some KZ ES4's coming in the mail. Its like a plague it is.

Anonymous

Which rack are the AirPod maxes on xD

Anonymous

did i spot a g29 wheel behind the rack

Anonymous

Could be, but I'm pretty sure that's a Driving Force GT. Had one back in the day of Need for Speed Shift 2 and I loved it

Anonymous

I want to get the hemps for my sister as a birthday present but they’re too expensive :(

Anonymous

Maybe buy her something from the Heritage series instead?

Anonymous

respectful disagree on the portapros! i'm no audiophile, just a broke music teacher in training, but they sound great to me, decently comparable with the dt770s i use at home and more comfortable than my sr850s. i see them less as headphones and more as earbuds for people who hate earbuds, and for hiking or city walking they're just perfect. i'm with you on the build quality but once they're on my head i can't complain. plus i love the 80s vibe lol

Anonymous

That “earbuds for people who hate earbuds” description perfectly sums up why I like them so much too, just so much more comfortable for while I’m at work. Never had an issue with the headband once they’re on, and they’re so light you almost forget they’re on your head.

Anonymous

I'm sold with those Grados. Time to start saving up for those! (Dang, now I wanna watch the Mandalorian S1&2 with those Grados.)

Anonymous

Why is there a wheel behind the hat rack headphones lol

Devon Fitzpatrick

I'm still waiting for a video on that DJ-Tech dual-iPod dock DJ kit. (Finally, a suitable upgrade from my Pioneer DDJ-800? :P)

Anonymous

Given your opinions on portapros, pro4AA, ATH M-50, and your prepencity to personally apologize to viewers who got their feels hurt after you slammed the headphones they own instead of activly insulting the very idea of someone liking the cans you’re reviewing that you also hate: You and Zeos Pantera would make good friends :) (Jk. Love both of yous, just found the contrast in personalities and personal taste pretty funny)

Anonymous

I bought the DT770s just recently despite them not being mentioned in your guide to better music on your iPhone so i'm glad to see them on your holy grails rack! (dont worry i snagged the BTR5 because you did mention it).

Anonymous

I HAD a pair of those porta-pros, i'd completely forgotten until I saw them just now!! wow, that's some memories.

Anonymous

I have that exact setup at home. I bought some DT770s a couple months ago and just bought a BTR5 thanks to DankPods' recommend. I adored the 770s the second I put them on and the BTR5 brings them to a new level. Good stuff.

Anonymous

I personally love my K240's. Weirdly enough, I find them quite comfortable

Anonymous

XB-1000? they used to be my dailys 🤣 still got them but the jack got bent and broken, gotta fix them

Anonymous

140,000 ohms you're going to have to plug these straight into a concert amplifier

Anonymous

Have you ever tried the Hifiman Sundara’s?

Anonymous

My hd25s have had the custom cans treatment. It’s so worth it for the subtle improvement on them

Anonymous

I loved my PortaPros back in the late 2000s/early 2010s ngl, sure they aren't amazing by audiophile standards, but they were light, very portable and still had a way better sound than any earbuds I've ever had and cheap enough that it didn't really matter when teenage me didn't handle them with much care (that said, they were surprisingly durable as well)

Anonymous

Question, what is the best "low cost" closed back (ear fully covered) headphones? I already own the HD6XX and even bought some k-zeds. I feel this would cover me for every possible need in my studio (I primarily work in contemporary music, like avant-garde classical, jazz, and computer music.).

Anonymous

Got me some dt770 80 ohm and am waiting for my btr5 to arrive c:

Anonymous

I'd love to find a 2021 replacement for the venerable ancient Sennheiser HD40

larsloveslegos

Love the HD 600's, my first audiphile headphones. It's like putting on glasses for my ears.

Anonymous

ah of course, the huh-duh six-hungeos
