Hi Stephanie, I saw on a comment that you responded to a few videos ago that you plan to be fully transparent about the spending of the Patreon funds. It's honorable of you to want to do so; but, I think this feels risky given that the Patreon videos are not confidential. Perhaps something that delivers on the transparency on how the money has been spent but not the details. For example, you could keep it simple and just give us an overview of the spending with a pie chart that has a breakdown of the percentages of where the money was spent (e.g. x% was spent on employee salaries, x% went to the drip irrigation, and x% spent on the courtyard, and so on).

I so agree!!! The vast majority of us are not contributing anywhere near a sizable sum. I do appreciate your telling us what you spend the money on, but giving the dollar amounts in any kind of detail is not needed, wanted, nor, I believe, wise. That just isn't our business. Your videos and consistency in providing them is, in all honesty, worth my contribution and then some. Cheers!

It isn't necessary for everyone to know where every last penny has been spent. I like Kimberly McDermott's idea of a pie chart with the percentages of spending.

Yes, the Christmas Cards are a tier benefit of the Marquis and Dauphin levels. I wish I could send them to everyone, I find it very hard to make differences between the tiers, but I have to think of extras for the different levels. I make sure that everyone receives the same extra video content, though ❤️

Great video. Michael Potts is such a calm, happy person. I think Ruth is becoming Lalande’s new “allusive Nick.” We never see her when Michael visits. Of course, not everyone is comfortable in front of a camera. 🙂 Where Isabel and Percy live is idyllic. I would never leave! Looking forward to seeing a review of the accounts. Don’t need the nitty gritty details, but a summary (including successes, challenges and areas for improvement/learning curves) would be enjoyable.

I have way over a hundred cookbooks and I rarely ever cook. But I do enjoy reading them so in another sense, I use them constantly. The main problem for me is storage, because I definitely do not live in a chateau! Thank you for the video!

It made me cry to watch this and so proud of the beauty and wonder of my homeland. I love South Africa with my heart and soul.Many years ago my family left to the UK where I finished school and then onto Australia. I live in New Zealand now but also lived back home in my 20's and 30's. My mom and other family members live there aswell. So I understand as I don't live at home how much time has been force passed to have been without your mom for you. I am so delighted to see you and Gerry back with your mom. It is special and wonderful, with Forever incredible Memories made. I cry in happiness or sadness for others and animals. I had happy and sad tears watching this. My home is uniquely a microcosm of the rest of Africa and safer than most countries there. So everyone visit and be mesmerised and enjoy the incredible exchange rates in your favour. (Go with empty suit cases aswell as The craft, art and clothing is a must to take home.) It has, the Magic of Africa, that once in your blood, born or from a fallen in love visitor and friend, is a vital force forever within one.

Pps: At home a Barbeque is called a Braai. Philip will love the Afrikaans as he will understand all of it. Advise him to buy the dried fruit rather abd especially dried Mangoes, let him try Biltong and Rusks with his first tea in the morning. He will on a Game Trip actually. So excited for you all especially a first timer to experience all. Michael how special of you to have saved thst Paradise in such a beautiful part of the world. The photography there alone must be as I say and Stephanie also does, Epic.

It's so heart-warming to see everyone together. There is Such a great joy in being able to once again do the ordinary together with those that we love! The lovely purple flowers at the beginning of the video are agapanthus and they are native to Africa and also called African Lily. They are in the same botanical family as amaryllis and daffodils. The genus name, “Agapanthus”, derives from two Greek words “agape”, which means “love”, and “anthos”, which means “flower”. The beautiful purple flowers you have in the courtyard at La Lande are alliums. They are related to onions and the tiny blooms are edible. They are another beautiful flower that is one of my favorites!

i agree with all of you, i would be perfectly happy if stephanie only gave gave us a rough overview over the finances, for example in the form of a pie chart but i think, since it's a non profit, there are regulations in place about what and how she has to make the finances public and i imagine it has to be detailed to a certain extent. also, no matter how she does it, the critics and trolls will find something to rant about. if she does a rough overview, they will accuse her of hiding things, if she does it in great detail, they will complain about how much she spends on what, damned if she does, damned if she doesn't. personally i think, when in doubt, take the route of maximum transparency?! stephanie, i hope you enjoy your time in SA and i'm very happy that you're reunited with your mum and that isabelle recovered from covid completely, she's a tough, resilient woman, take that, you stupid virus! i lost my beloved grandma at the age of 96 last summer (not to covid), i miss her dearly and i know the importance of spending time together whenever you can. i know i'm very late to the party but i also wanted to congratulate you, stephanie, on finishing the last year with several bangs, the advent vlogs got better and better towards the end and the concert in the chapel was just so, so beautiful, well done! your aunt and uncle are such lovely, kind, funny people, i'd love to live with them, as their pet ;) and then of course the finishing of the downstairs loo, FINALLY, who'd have thunk it?! it turned out beautifully, a bog fit for an empress, bravo! since i'm right now going through serious chateau-diaries-withdrawals, i have been rewatching old episodes and patreon content for the umpteenth time and i watched an old patreon Q&A from july 2020 (i think) and you talked about the renovation of the downstairs loo and how it will be finished soon and about the importance of quick wins for morale, i had a good giggle :D and thank you for putting all patron's names behind the panelling, that really is a gracious, wonderful gesture! anyway, i hope you make the best of your time off and you come back very soon, reenergized and inspired to show us more of chateau life and renovations, because i'm H U N G R Y!!! lots of love and greetings from austria, matthias ps: do you plan on doing a Q&A once you're back? i have a few questions, where can i post them? pps: if i had one or two proposals that might be interesting to you, what would be the best way to get in contact? i know you get hundreds of messages and i don't want to pile on yours or nati's workload more than i have to.

Hilton Berry So lovely to see that part of the world. My parents had a holiday cottage just outside Port Shepstone that was right on the beach. We lived in Durban and the cottage was a 2-3hour trek then, long before motorways were built in that area!
