You should watch the anime up to the end of Arlong and then stop until season 2.

Vasto

Arlong ends at 44 ep in anime, so its like they done 5-6 anime eps per one live action.

Anonymous

This live-action was an adaption of the manga, not the anime, so some scenes are shown differently in the anime. They also changed some stuff in anime cause it was running on kids' TV in Japan at the time. The "for kids dubbed" created for Western kids for One Piece is too funny!! Haha. Some of the worst dubbing I have seen in anime, well, for me at least, haha. But yeah, I loved rewatching this with you guys. One Piece is one of my favourite animes, and currently, I am on episode 1041. The depth of this anime and the plot and storytelling are top-notch. I hope you guys watch it someday!!!!

Meme Team!

one piece is one of those series where its like a free for all, heros vs heros and villains vs villains, pirates or marines. Characters are so in depth/cool that there are genuinely group of fans that wish the main villains that are introduced later come out on top. Its fantastic

klairvoyance

Agreed. Though I wouldn't mind if they end up committing to the whole journey...it's definitely worth it

watch the anime you won't regret it , because the live action follow the storyline but with many differences from the anime. So even if you watch the anime , if a season 2 of the live action is done you will still have a lot to discover. Of course you do what you wanna do. But I would love to see you guys react to the anime. There is also another possibility , the live action cover 45 episodes of the one piece anime so you can still decide to do the anime then pause after the episode 45 until season 2 of the live action go out. Just an idea i just got.

while there is a plethora of amazing little easter eggs in this, the one I love the most is probably the little musical motif that plays when they first set off on the Going Merry, and that plays right at the end when they have their cast off ceremony, as it is from the OG anime opening. the perfect little reference to add to an honestly pretty amazing OST for the show

Mellorine

Thanks guys. I hope you watch the anime. These 8 episodes covered only around 50 episodes from the anime. I understand that 1070+ episodes sound crazy, but when you get there you'll only want more it is so damn good. I love HxH, Death Note, and My Hero Academia, and I watched all the animes you have on your channel, I love all of them for different reasons, but One Piece has everything together, which's also an exclusive benefit of such a long show that you won't find in short animes. I liked this show. It might've omitted many things and changed a story a bit, but it was able to capture One Piece's vibe, wholesomeness, and fun. If you liked or loved this show, you'll absolutely love the anime.

SomeoneElse

I would LOVE for you guys to check out the anime, but I understand wanting to wait for season 2 of the LA. 2 years until season 2 sounds about right, especially with the writers strike going on, and that's IF it gets a season 2. It was massively popular, broke Netflix records etc, but you never know with Netflix especially with this shows budget which was high. If they don't do a season 2, I hope you guys check out the anime. I've really enjoyed watching your reactions, it would be nice to see more from you! One Piece has a massive fanbase who loves seeing people's reactions. Try to not think of how long it will take to finish, but how long it will last you, because it is a treasure trove of great storytelling that will make you laugh just as much as it will hit you where it hurts lol. Thanks for the reactions!

KevUrb

“We are” playing in the background of their cast off ceremony was perfect! Best anime live action by far and it isnt even close!

Marcus Ssmart

I honestly love the adaptation way better than the anime

KevUrb

What sucks is that Season 2 hasnt officially been green lighted yet. I believe a lot of it has to do with the industry strike :(. Im hoping we dont have to wait longer than 2 years. In regards to the anime, the last few episodes have been really epic!

Anonymous

The anime has some pacing issues, but the story has so much more to it than the live action and some things that happen are very different. I'm glad they did it that way because I get to have a new experience with this and hopefully you can have a new experience with the anime. I would say to check out the One "Pace" version, but I haven't watched it myself.

Vasto

Personally in anime Arlong was way more emotional for me, and definitely my least favourite part of this live action, but overall rest was really decent, about anime, i don't see you guys watching it without skipping the openings/retrospections its saving like 5 min per ep sometimes 7+ also the pacing can be horrible in some arcs in Anime but overall is still worth it and for me its top 1 shounen for its world and characters.

Anonymous

Just to explain what One "Pace" is. One "Pace" is basically edited One Piece anime to be as Oda Sensei (author of the manga) intended it to be, meaning without fillers and extended moments in canon episodes. So it's more or less 1 to 1 with the manga.

klairvoyance

I watched it even without One Pace and it was fine as long as you skip OPs, recaps & EDs...now I'm caught up and wish there was more everyday lmao

ZGMF-X23S Saviour

Zeff was definitely the one who taught Sanji to fight. It's why he was called "Red Leg Zeff," he fought with his legs like Sanji. There have been other good anime adaptations, but they're all Japanese-made. I hear the Bleach live action movie is pretty good for what it is, but I haven't watched it myself so I can't confirm. I think it's on Netflix.

klairvoyance

and even if, at earliest most likely in 3 years...imo the live action deviates more than enough to still be reaction-worthy even with knowledge of the actual story

Mikail B

would be dope if you guys finally decided to watch the anime while switching back and forth with the live action.

Anonymous

without big spoiler, the tease is named smoker, he has a special devil fruit, he is a marine captain

MaxVSTheGames

Well, I speak only for myself, but if you would start reacting to the anime, I would definitely be a patron throughout your whole reaction even if it's years worth of reaction. Reacting to it would be a win-win for everyone. You watch an amazing anime and get years of content and we get to see you guys react to one of our favorite show.

klairvoyance

Usually you're don't spoil something after prefacing it saying you won't spoil...why take away the fun of a cool reveal later on?

ZGMF-X23S Saviour

They probably won't start it until after they finish Bleach at the earliest. Can't imagine they'd watch two long-running shows together, not that I would mind.

J. J.

I would just stick with the LA until it finishes, you've already started the story here - if you start the anime it will mess up expecatations/enjoyment of the LA. The LA isn't just for anime/manga fans, it's to bring in new fans to OP as well.

ZGMF-X23S Saviour

They probably wouldn't watch One Pace since they seem very against watching from unofficial or pirated sources.

N

You guys should really consider watching the anime, especially if the world and the characters intrigued you. This is really good don't get me wrong, but I think the anime is a better medium to experience the rest of the story. I'm sure if they continue they'll do it right, but it'll be harder to adapt the rest of the material with how crazy devil fruits get etc. So I think it's better to use this show as like a companion piece to the anime/manga.

NUCKY

Watch the anime, this Live Action is really good but the anime specially the manga is much better.

Regie Khemvisay

Whether u guys watch anime or not, i can say you'll still enjoy the live action blind or not. I had so much fun watching the LA and have watched the anime 3times already. The pacing in the Anime is definitely slow but will still a good journey. I had so much fun watching you guys' reaction. Imma be watching some new anime and shows with you guys from now on :)

blu_regards

People should really be hoping that a few seasons are green lit and not just a season 2. That way it can get the GoT treatment and have a season coming out each year, or at least not 3 years between seasons. And if they are smart about it, they could even take the actors aging into consideration when adapting the story. Lastly, if your interested in the story, I would highly recommend that at a minimum that you guys do yourselves the favor of blocking OP stuff on social media. The manga is in its final stretch and not even manga readers are safe from spoilers.

Christopher LoBosco Jr.

I urge you guys to watch the anime from the beginning, as much as I love this live action the anime hits so hard and expands on all of the characters you loved from the live action!

SomeoneElse

How can you say it would mess up enjoyment of the LA when so many of us were already OP fans and really enjoyed the LA? 🤔 If the LA is meant to bring new fans to the anime/manga, then them watching the anime would make sense, no?

HeartlandHunny

Even if you only watch through episode 45 (which is what the LA covered), I'd love to see you react to the anime. They really did a great job with this adaptation, but there was a lot of great stuff they had to leave out for time, plus things that were changed, especially to the Arlong Park episodes, like what the pinwheel actually means. It'd be really interesting to see a reaction to the anime from the perspective of folks who watched the LA first!

HeartlandHunny

Also, I don't think anything in the first 45 episodes of the anime would spoil anything in season two. Unlike the LA, which spoiled that Garp is Luffy's grandpa. 😆 That wasn't revealed in the anime until episode 314, and I've seen a few reactors who are early on in the anime get spoiled by the live action. I actually hadn't gotten that far yet myself, but the internet had already spoiled me on that front, unfortunately.

J. J.

There are way more people complaining about x y and z missing from the LA. Point is, it's made so you can enjoy the LA without having seen the anime/manga.

Hal.

How about you watch just up to the Arlong Park arc as a starter because even up to there, there are quite a couple of episodes! And comparing them would also be fun while your LA memories are fresh :)

Angel Zane

I loved your reaction to the Netflix adaptation! I will say that for the most part the story beats are the same but I think when you see the source material, you'll find a new adventure with the same core messages as the OPLA.

rando

I think you should at least watch the anime/read the manga up to (and including) Arlong Park. Everything plays out quite a bit differently in the live action. And specifically Arlong Park I think was just better in the anime. I can see why you might not see any issues in the live action version of this arc, but the anime version is honestly on a different level for this one, it's amazing. So if nothing else watch the anime version of Arlong Park. You can also watch the One Pace version, which is shorter and probably better.

Vasto

Yea most likely it will take 3-4 years for second season in this time even if you guys watch 1 ep a week of One Piece it will get us to 150-200 ep, with 2 a week its 300-400 eps already a third of the series xD

ZGMF-X23S Saviour

Once they get to the later arcs, they might need to watch 3 or even 4 episodes instead of the usual 2-per-week if they want to make any discernible story progress lol; considering the atrociously slow pacing of many of the later episodes and ridiculously long recaps, lots of episodes may as well just be 10 minutes' worth of content.

2023-09-08 01:46:20 So as you see one piece is a huge community, Welcome Aboard! Even you decide to not react to anime episode by episode, please try to react one piece clip especially arlong fight, nami stab scene and shanks save luffy scene. those are better scene compared to live action. As a long time subs of yours and long time watcher of one piece, I can imagine your general impression on this anime. I definitely recommand you to watch One Piece first arc after finishing Bleach with following reason: 1) Better Fight Scene 2) Sometime better pacing 3) More Subs (One Piece fan base really huge and wholesome in general) Although it is one of the best anime adaption right now, it still nowhere near the orginal anime version. It definitely have its highlight moments but animation is still the best media to tell this story. GOOD REACTION keep on the good work, hope you wont feel to stress for this fanbase~

I would patreon consistently to watch you react to the anime... Just saying

Hal.

I never knew about One Pace, and it was a pleasant surprise that hardcore fans run such an enthusiastic project. However, I agree they probably will not go for One Pace for copyright reasons.

Anonymous

Great reactors, anime next pretty please!!! Live action did pretty well adapting most scenes but there are still much more powerful moments in the anime that the live action didn’t quite hit the mark on (zoros introduction, Mihawk introduction, arlong park), I’m also curious to hear your thoughts on anime luffy since I feel he’s a lot different than inaki godoys portrayal (not complaining, a 1:1 luffy would be nearly impossible to get correct imo). Was great watching this series with you guys!

Vasto

Its a way to go but not for them, firstly i wouldn't recommend One Pace for someone watching first time, its great if you dropped/stopped the series and want to come back, or just rewatch as a fan, but for someone going first time not really. Regardless of that aspect, them downloading from pirate sites to react, and us also downloading it for them to sync, is kinda beyond any realistic scenario, and there are even more arguments to not watch One Pace.

Vasto

You are comparing One Piece live action and One Piece anime, not Bleach from my understanding right? I think one of the huge stuff Live Action is also missing are end interactions of Usopp and Sanji, they are all out happy and friendly barely after meeting rest of the crew and doing much really in their "mini arcs", without much reason while in Anime it was justified how they both fought, also the Adventure aspect is kinda missing, if you spend pretty much 1% of time on the Boat while in anime there were many scenes between islands.

kaiho leung

Yes I am comparing One Piece live action and One Piece anime and tbh some yelling moment in live action is much more cringe than I thoguht (sorry to say that) but I think it is much more natural in anime. I need to rewatch East Blue Arc to recall my memory on the interactions of Usopp and Sanji. I think they didnt interact much in here😂

Heavenly Demon

So no spoilers but usopp always tells the truth even when he lies

N

No it was created as a way to reach a new audience with One Piece and hopefully get them to read the manga or watch the anime. If you think they're adapting the rest of the story with LA I don't even know man. Like can you seriously imagine Dressrosa or Wano being in the LA? They'd be like 3 to 4 seasons by themselves. And it takes at least a year and a half to put out a season.

Manny

Read somewhere season 2 script is ready, but they are waiting for the strike to be over before filming to start.

Regie Khemvisay

You guys should watch 1-45 episodes of anime, im not too sure where the LA stops with, but maybe you can watch it after every season of the LA. Would love to see u guys' reaction

Joashane Garrick

Even tho I'm at episode 1082 in the anime. I would be down to watch you guys experience the anime from episode 1 to the end of arlong park (ep 44). It's been enjoyable watching along with you guys and seeing the raw reactions.
