Hi

I've got some new sim work to show off today, and the backlog loops, (I'm now up to date with both standard and alt for the animation so far and they've been color graded)

The big thing I've been grinding on for several weeks of late nights is a new simulation system, a lot of custom code has gone into this, fully simed fur, a new gooier stickier sim and material and fluid<>fur two way interaction.

I've tried working on this very thing a few times in the past and each time I'd hit a roadblock, throw up my hands and dropped the project. Not this time, I've really pushed myself hard for this, every little thing that was wrong I've gone back and fixed a lot where custom solutions needed to be coded they were. and also the reason the mid month update is a few days late.

I've included a compilation video of some of the WIP versions, first getting the tail fluffy then the fluid iterations and a separate video with all the fixes in place.

For the rest of the month I'm going to be working on the little linker animation between the existing animation so far and these loops and prepping for the next bit... filling a foxes belly with burr cream ^_^

I'm also thinking after I finish this animation I'm going to be going for more short form animations so I can iterate the technology I'm using more quickly. I want to be able to freely try out new workflows, lighting, making and using new characters, effects, etc... without being locked into long arcs using the same setups. This will also provide more chances for Executive Producers to vote on things which is something that I really want to do more of.

Another downside of working on longer projects is I just don't get to post as often on social media, more posts = more support = better hardware = better animations. To that end I'll be putting up the final fluid sim tech demo vid on social media soon, I'm hoping that will attract a few more eyeballs on the rest of my work.

So there we go , I hope you like my new reactive fur and sticky simulation, the standard and alt loops and animation so far, and I'll be back later in the month with whatever else I've cooked up by then :D
