Now back to our regularly scheduled harem. We're drawing near to the end, now. A few threads yet to resolve, but there's an end in sight. With Spencer deciding he's going to switch off his eponymous effect, which is a decision he has made and will absolutely stick to, it's just down to see if he can fix things with his girls and get back to business as usual. Get ready for The RA volume 4: hanging out in the lounge playing board games and stuff.

More to come!

This chapter brought to you by SONIC: America's Drive-In!

WDB

Perils of moving to a big city and getting rid of your car, you can't get to a suburban drive-in. Sonic is... I think I've only been there a few times? Not enough to have a go-to meal. I like their breakfast? Still and all, a lot to chew on in this chapter. (Not sorry!) Spencer's inevitably going to change his hastily-made mind and get himself switched back on, but it needs to feel like a decision he really dug into. The best parts of it are all of Spencer's hypocritical blindspots, like his insistence that getting switched back on would be highly unethical and psychologically manipulative, but using peer pressure to convince a half-dozen women to swallow their pride (and swallow Spencer's cock) in order to maintain societal cohesion as Spencer's non-sexual harem, *that's* totally, unambiguously good and pure and altruistic. It's a wonder that Ramona even tries to reason with this self-sabotaging knucklehead. But I'm glad she does, because it's reliably hot and incredibly clever. Spencer refuses to cross certain lines, and Ramona's role is to get him to understand that *he* drew those lines. The things that Spencer thinks of as harmful are just things that he feels bad about; the things he thinks of as helpful are just things he feels good about. For a guy who's made a lot of his identity about shepherding a community, he honestly needs to stop thinking of his charges as sheep, and start thinking of them as smart, capable, sexually-active women. He needs to protect them from the world, not from themselves. A really good chapter, and not least of which for Jean's exceptionally hot/scary/same thing sex scene. Glad to find out that Spencer doesn't hate goth girls! Means I can keep reading this series!
