The decision has been taken: my new Patreon chip die tracing project will involve the 1988 tilemap and sprite brothers 052109, 051962, 051960 and 051937.
They have been decapped and are currently being imaged.

These were used in:

* Ajax (additional 051316)
* Aliens (052526 CPU)
* Block Hole (052526 CPU)
* Crime Fighters (052526 CPU)
* Devastators (051733 protection)
* Gang Busters (052526 CPU)
* Gradius 3
* Missing in Action
* Punk Shot
* Special Project Y (052591 protection)
* Super Contra (052001 CPU)
* The Main Event
* Thunder Cross 2 (054000 protection)
* TMNT
* Ultraman (additional 051316's)

To reduce the excitment that this list might bring you, know that this doesn't mean MiSTer cores for each of these games will come out in the next few days (at least not from me). Again, this is going to be a months-long side project, so patience is still going to be required before anything useable / useful is released.

The important point is that tracing those 4 chips will provide a common base for the video logic of all these games (and maybe others which use evolutions of these chips).

As before, I'll release schematics and verilog code with a permissive license.
FPGA cores and chip repros may or may not come from me in the future. This will only depend on time and motivation.
However I'm fully open about working with other devs who'd like to work on other parts of those systems, such as audio (Jotego already took care of the FM chips), IOs, glue logic, special CPUs, hooking stuff up to SDRAM, to the MiSTer HPS for example...

For this new project, since the 4 chips are from Fujitsu (easy) and not gigantic (months, not years), I'm planning on writing a single paid post once everything will be finished.
Free updates will be posted from time to time to show progress.

I dunno if it's okay to ask (or if I've asked already), but is there any chance we'll see neo geo cd support on the neo geo core in the future? Awesome news in any event =D
