AHHHH I CANT WAIT TO WATCH THESE WITH YALL

CreatureSoul446

Watching both the Attack on Titan and Haikyuu reactions back to back is always kind of funny because hearing Kamiya Hiroshi voice both Levi and Takeda (the black haired teacher w/ glasses) is such whiplash.

blaire, it's great that you noticed how asahi and hinata are similar, the author loves to play with dynamics and symbolism to the point where even their names are involved in this, the 'hi' in asahi (旭) sounds the same as the 'hi' in "hinata" (日向). that's also not just a coincidence as both "hi" characters mean the "sun" (日) in japanese. the character for "nata" in hinata means toward, and the asa in asahi means morning, creds to mix montana for this explanation! both of their names are related to light (sun in this case). you also mentioned how you can see the noya and asahi dynamic, nishinoya (西谷) means west valley, his first name yu (夕) means night. this directly contrasts with asahis last name azumane (東峰) meaning east peak and asahi (旭) meaning morning sun as discussed earlier. they are designed to be complete opposites of each other at first glance: one small, one large, one timid and the other bold and wild. this series are very detailed and beautiful when it comes to present a character, you'll see more of this in the future, with different characters as well

Liv

Nishinoya is the same voice actor as Genya from Demon Slayer!!

Liv

Takeda-sensei is their faculty sponsor and is the modern literature teacher so that’s why he’s so poetic all the time! Also he’s young so everyone forgets to call him sensei all the time

Liv

Kim yeonkoung (the very famous volleyball captain you saw on running man) is soooo cool and she even reacted to haikyuu on her YouTube and was very impressed by the accuracy and attention to detail !

OUR GENTLE GIANT IS HEREEE

Mystical Snow

This!!! I would also like to add the contrast between Tsukishima and Hinata as well as the moon and sun and a couple other things that tie in other characters together like Oikawa and Iwaizumi. Furudate really took his time creating these characters 🥹

Oooof yes after finishing Haikyuu, I watched so much random japanese men's volleyball (even random recommended high school league games). Literally looks and feels just like Haikyuu. Japenese volleyball is so intense. They can keep such long rallies. Also realized watching real volleyball, after haikyuu, how freaking high everyone jumps. Esp Jpn volleyball. Bc you can find really tall avg height for north american teams where they're jumping high, but are so tall that visually they dwarf the net a bit. But japanese volleyball has tall japenes ppl, but ultimately like, more normal heights. And the air they look like they gain, and how freaking high the net looks respectively is insane.

yes!!! Im keeping those explanations for when we get to THAT episode👀 and the episode title

2024-01-23 14:04:31 I didn't expect to be sad because I miss Chungha while watching Haikyuu 😂 But I totally get what you mean PD. I remember what it felt like watching it for the first time. Haikyuu is a very emotionally moving show. It makes you hopeful, it makes you feel like you're able to achieve anything you want and it also makes you nostalgic. Thinking about your past and the realization of: "Wow I totally forgot what it was like back then but now I remember" It's a mix of so many feelings. Haikyuu is so much more than just volleyball while also being fucking great at being an anime about volleyball, you know what I mean? I'm so happy you guys started watching this show
