BABYMONSTER AHYEON + HARAM Introduction + Character Playlist

I noticed you said last two introductions, just in case you didn't notice it, there is also one for chiquita which hasn't been posted yet.

Oh my gosh, idk if it's just me but Ahyeon looked so much like Jennie in that opening shot in the practice room

Christian

Chiquita right now 🧍🏻

After I found out Ahyeon speaks Chinese, I realized: "Oh! So no Jane and Vicky (Chinese trainees), but you (YG) made sure to have a Chinese speaker there, just in case... well played!" Speaking of Ahyeon language skills. I have a question to native English speakers. How hard is it for you to hear that the singer is not a native speaker, when they sing in English? Because in my language, Czech, natives will hear that the person is not from here in a second, since we are the only nation speaking this language (although for example Slovak is so similar that we can talk to each other in our own language and understand each other, we would know when someone from Slovakia would try to pretend they are from Czech Republic). But in case of English, I feel like for natives it has to be so common to hear people talking with so many accents and dialects, so although I assume in general speech you would hear that immediately as well, in singing I kind of feel like it could get not so obvious.

PD you skipped Chiquita's introduction video

Surprised you only noticed the censoring of faces in Haram’s video. Looks like there originally were 10 girls but it was cut down to 7 so YG is censoring those 3 that didn’t make the cut. Those censored faces appear in most of the girls introductory videos.

I was so curious about Haram's introducing video, because although all of them caught my attention a lot a nearly equally, she was the only one I was still wondering about. After watching this video I am not saying she got me, but I can see in her the upcoming development in the future. As Dezzy said himself, similar/the same case as with JiSoo. I have nothing against JiSoo, but when people used to say during BLACKPINK's career that she was a bit behind with that and that, I was like: "Yeah, I see it there too" (Now I am talking about real feedback to BLACKPINK's work, not those random haters...). And now when YG announced her solo debut I was like: "Yeah, this is the perfect moment! She has bloomed to this moment and it will be above perfection!" So I can see Haram "being the next JiSoo" (I don't really like the term "being the next of someone"). About those blurred members. They were in previous videos as well, for example when they celebrated Pharita's birthday. So because of that I assume although YG announced somewhere after the summer of 2020 that the group is ready to debut and were supposed to debut in 2021, there were multiple projects/plans labeled with this name "BABYMONSTER", which got cancelled and this project was actually still in the development and finalising the line up, because if those blurred members were actually the final line up and they got eliminated, they could have shown us, since they are presenting it now as if "someone is about to get eliminated" (which is also another reason, why it is just made for the drama, because some trainees apparently already got eliminated)

I noticed it in the others but it was a lot so I thought it was a bigger group of trainees just training together. I didn’t realize it was whittling down so much

Hey, I'm a native English speaker here. So most of the time, it's quite obvious when someone who didn't grow up in America, speaks English. There's a slight accent (which is not the only give away because you have Southern accents vs Northern accents) but also the way the person pronounces the words. English is difficult to learn because it's very weird and doesn't follow a clear pattern, like why is colonel pronounced kernel? In singing, it's easier for someone's accent or pronunciation to be disguised but you would be able to hear the difference if you watch a clip of that person speaking English.

I would add speaking English is very different than singing in English. Accents usually aren’t heard in singing (ex: basically all British singers don’t sound British when they sing). The only time you can tell when it’s singing is if there’s a pronunciation mistake.

The BabyMonster rumors for the longest time said it was going to be a 10 member group, which is clear in these videos. I think it was PHARITA’s video when you can see 3 blurred girls with the 7 Baemon girls. They likely weren’t selected for the BabyMonster final evaluation that you’re now starting and is being released.

i really love haram's voice for the same reason blaire said like she has such a unique and distinctive voice in the group and it wanst until i watched her introduction video that i noticed that i think the songs they showed her singing here specially the Antisocial one did a better job to show off her voice than the previous performance video

WiseSmellyLegs

Thank you for explaining! You got me with the word colonel... 😅😅 that's really random.

WiseSmellyLegs

So since it is very different, it's actually hard to tell, right? So if we take Ahyeon as an example, would you be able to tell? From her performances here or also the very first solo performance from YG's channel. I'm not a native, so who am I to judge that, but at first with the very first video I was thinking she might have been Korean American

As a side note: I would suggest to treat recording a bit more professional like a "job" and leave the food for the breaks in between. Its also way more healthy to have a dedicated break instead of eating during "working". Most Patreons are here to see your reaction and get your commentary. You eating is very distracting. Not only to the viewer but I imagine to you as well. Half the time you're looking down on your food, concentrating on eating or having your mouth full, when you would have some comment. So you're missing stuff and loose on the commentary. Personally as somebody having misophonia its really hard to get through reactions where somebody is eating, even if eating noises are kept to a minimum. Normally I would stop watching. I only powered through this because its you and I'm really interested hearing your thoughts. Of course the misphonia is a "me" problem. The general loss in quality for your commentary is not. Just wanted to point out where I see some room for improvement. Also: I hope my english wasn't to bad and I could get my point accross without sounding or coming across as rude. Of course no offense intended. PS.: Looking forward to the missing Chiquita reaction ;)

With Ahyeon, yes. Her first live performance video, it’s really not that noticeable except for the second half of the song. But in her introduction videos, you can clearly hear how her pronunciation isn’t perfect. Which it doesn’t have to be! It’s impressive that she taught herself how to speak English, and honestly, as long as she can hold her own in a conversation, who cares that her pronunciation isn’t perfect.

Yo. I’m gonna take this to heart. I am actually gonna include this into my plans.
