Going a bit fast and loose, but we cover some good ground in this one! Putting together a digital matte painting of a city from (nearly) scratch.

If anyone wants the buildings I made in the video for anything, here's a project file with them and the geonodes setup here. I didn't clean things too much, but it should be fairly self explanatory.

Here's the asset download page for the harbor video texture from a few years back.

And here's the new city shimmer video texture I've been using. And a scaled down version (the other one's a bit big.) Although be warned! The lights are exceptionally shimmery in this one. It's not subtle. I thought the more shimmery the better, but this is... perhaps too shimmery for a lot of uses.

Also this video's sort of a sequel to this old video! (lots of sillhouettes and video textures).

Modeling a Distant City

Going a bit fast and loose, but we cover some good ground in this one! Putting together a digital matte painting of a city from (nearly) scratch. I've got some assets and links over on the patreon post!

I made something similar a few months back to make a small slum/fishing town. Making cities with Geometry nodes is fun when you figured out how scattering works

Using geometry nodes to instantiate objects like that is so smart, I've been doing it with particles still

Hi, Ian! Can you do tutorial about cloth simulation? And probably software like "Marvelous Designer" in combination with blender and animations on characters from your pack or from Mixamo. Thanks!

As an architect the phrase "there is really only so many ways you can make a square look interesting", really resonated with me haha

Thats crazy Ian, some of the things you do and the way you go about certain things blows my mind. It opens my mind up to think outside the box too. Keep up the awesome work bro 🤜🤛💯
