Also in the beginning I was thinking this definitely seem like the typical kid that becomes a school shooter. Not exactly turned into curses. Mahito loaded them with his cursed energy and transformed their bodies and messed with their heads. They're more like meat puppets. BTW Keep in mind what "Work is shit" guy said about creating a pact when explaining his technique. It plays a part in later parts of the series.
