I remember DBZ used to be on during dinner time, and I'd try my damn hardest to get my parents to have it ready after, that or I'd try to have them record it at the very least. Still was tricky to watch it perfectly linear from beginning to end, and I got into the series a bit later than other peeps. Also I remember reading Naruto in Shonen Jump before it even became an anime and took the anime community by storm. I LIKED NARUTO BEFORE IT WAS COOL, BOI. Lmao. For manga, I've had various phases. Basically I'm extremely on and off when it comes to manga. Obviously Shonen Jump is where it started for me. Later on I started buying graphic novels once a friend told me where to get them... read Samurai Deeper Kyo (that might've been my first ecchi if you don't include Naruto's Harem Jutsu). S-cry-ed as well, some og Dragon Ball. Fast forward to more recently, been trying to get back into manga more, there's a bunch I want to know more about, but I'm so easily distracted these days and it doesn't hold my attention as much as it used to, even though I enjoy it. However I did manage to get a good start on JoJo Part 6: Stone Ocean, been making decent progress on that one during quarantine.

My top 3 2019 anime was Vinland Saga, Mob psycho 2, and Dr stone. Demon slayer lacked in my opinion. I liked the art and animation that was given but I hated the constant CGI put into it. In my eyes I don't care how good they try to make the CGI look it still ruins the animation for me completely. The first season so far is in typical to average territory in terms of story. I did not like a lot of the characters. Tanjiro is very bland in the first season so far. His whole character so far is all about his sister. His sister has more personality and is more likable than him from the way I see it. Wasn't a fan of Zenitsu and especially the pillars. I am looking forward to the clear story development that happens with almost any series after their "prologue" or whatever you wanna call it. Vinland was the very dark horse that no one was watching when it came out but it was the best anime airing at that time for me. Dr Stone was great although I had a problem with the lack of animation. Even if it isn't needed to have great animation I still saw many scenes where they completely skip out on animating some simple scenes by throwing in a still panel with no movement at all. Too many still shots where they could have put some simple animation in it to make it feel more alive and entertaining. Everything else was great of course. Mob Psycho season 2 was just simply amazing. The development with Mob in this season was phenomenal. The dude is so outgoing and confident compared to season 1. Reigan got a great little mini arc for his relationship with Mob. The final big arc came out of nowhere with that huge episode where you think Mob's family was straight up killed. As for MHA I always just enjoy that more than anything for the multiple different emotions that it constantly draws out so I don't normally ever put it in my list anyways. Also going back to demon slayer I honestly enjoyed the final episode way more than episode 19. Everyone focuses on the episode 19 moment where you just get a simple 5 minutes of a good fight and great animation and good music but the part with Micheal Jackson aka Muzan in the final episode just hit way harder to me. Now of course like I have been saying this is all just my view on what we got in 2019. I will always have things to pick on with all anime whether or not it is more or less because nothing is perfect but if everything was perfect you would more than likely get tired of the perfection. Anime is all about being creative and different and having flaws. It appeals to a variety of different audiences and preferences.... Great podcast guys.

Great analysis man, and I can definitely agree on the Dr Stone and Demon Slayer points to an extent, I did thoroughly enjoy the CGI with DS, it just made everything more fluid for me. Glad you enjoyed the episode though man!

Half the time I don't get notifications for replies on patreon so I either never see them or I happen to look back at my comment but yea of course it is different strokes for different folks. I don't really like any CGI but someone else could think it is very adaptable and usable in anime. I just always prefer the typical drawing OG type of animation. Part of why I love MHA is that they never use any CGI and always go the OG drawing route no matter what. Even with unbelievable animations that normal anime would just use the CGI route with they still go all in on the drawings. So obviously anime without CGI are gonna get my bias but that is just me. I can take CGI but when it isn't necessarily needed to be used I just don't like it being implemented. Idk overall I just always feel like anime is anime because of the amazing drawing animation and not something you would find in a video game or whatever.... They do use CGI for video games don't they? Correct me if I'm wrong all I know is that it is called CGI and it looks totally different in anime...

Wait shield hero came out in 2019??? I thought it was 2018.....? If it did I might have to switch out Dr Stone with Shield hero cause I loved that first season.
